The Everything Bubble chronicles the creation and evolution of the US financial system, starting with the founding of the US Federal Reserve in 1913 and leading up to the present era of serial bubbles: the Tech Bubble of the '90s, the Housing Bubble of the early '00s and the current bubble in US sovereign bonds, which are also called Treasuries. Because these bonds serve as the foundation of our current financial system, when they are in a bubble, it means that all risk assets (truly EVERYTHING), are in a bubble, hence our title, The Everything Bubble. In this sense, the Everything Bubble represents the proverbial end game for central bank policy: the final speculative frenzy induced by Federal Reserve overreach. The Everything Bubble book is the result of over a decade of research and analysis of the financial markets and economy by noted investment analyst, Graham Summers, MBA. As such, this book is intended for anyone who wants to understand how the US financial system truly operates as well as those interested in the Federal Reserve's future policy responses when the Everything Bubble bursts. To that end, The Everything Bubble is divided into two sections: How We Got Here and What's to Come. Combined, these sections represent a blueprint for all things finance and money-related in the United States. This knowledge is now yours.

There are crashes and then there are Crashes. But what turns an ordinary downturn into an era-defining crisis? What makes the difference between an event like the Wall Street Crash of 1929 and a brief bear market? The answer lies in financial exuberance: speculative mania that appears to be making everyone rich, only to end up making everyone much, much worse off. Historian and professional investor Alasdair Nairn predicted both the dotcom and subprime collapses, and in this compelling new book shares the evidence that we are living through such a period of deadly excess right now. Markets appear to be going up and up, but they have got perilously ahead of themselves. Danger lies in every single investable asset class. What some have called the ‘Everything Bubble’ has inflated to unprecedented proportions. And now the bubble is about to burst. Nairn lays bare the level of danger with unprecedented detail and pieces together the steps that brought us to the precipice. Lastly, he points out options open to those willing to act now to avoid future harm to their wealth. As we near the end of the Everything Bubble, don’t be one of those caught out!

Why the global economy has become increasingly unstable, and how financial “de-carbonization” could break the pattern of bubble-driven wealth destruction. The global economy has become increasingly, perhaps chronically, unstable. Since 2008, we have heard about the housing bubble, subprime mortgages, banks “too big to fail,” financial regulation (or the lack of it), and the European debt crisis. Wall Street has discovered that it is more profitable to make money from other people's money than by investing in the real economy, which has limited access to capital—resulting in slow growth and rising inequality. What we haven't heard much about is the role of natural resources—energy in particular—as drivers of economic growth, or the connection of “global warming” to the economic crisis. In The Bubble Economy, Robert Ayres—an economist and physicist—connects economic instability to the economics of energy. Ayres describes, among other things, the roots of our bubble economy (including the divergent influences of Senator Carter Glass—of the Glass-Steagall Law—and Ayn Rand); the role of energy in the economy, from the “oil shocks” of 1971 and 1981 through the Iraq wars; the early history of bubbles and busts; the end of Glass-Steagall; climate change; and the failures of austerity. Finally, Ayres offers a new approach to trigger economic growth. The rising price of fossil fuels (notwithstanding “fracking”) suggests that renewable energy will become increasingly profitable. Ayres argues that government should redirect private savings and global finance away from home ownership and toward “de-carbonization”—investment in renewables and efficiency. Large-scale investment in sustainability will achieve a trifecta: lowering greenhouse gas emissions, stimulating innovation-based economic growth and employment, and offering long-term investment opportunities that do not depend on risky gambling strategies with derivatives.

In this sequel to the 2017 best-seller, The Everything Bubble, Graham Summers, MBA presents and analyzes the major macroeconomic developments that have occurred since that time, focusing specifically on global policymakers' responses to the 2020 pandemic.Building on the framework initially presented in The Everything Bubble, Graham outlines what policymakers got wrong regarding the shutdowns as well as how the US Federal Reserve and Federal Government unleashed inflation via outrageous amounts of stimulus/ money printing between 2020 and 2022. After examining the implications of these developments for the financial system, Graham presents what he sees as the future of monetary policy, specifically, what policies the US Federal Reserve and Federal Government will be forced to implement when the next crisis or recession hits. The second half of the book is devoted to providing guidelines for investing in this new climate from two perspectives: avoiding the most common mistakes investors typically make and how to employ proper risk management to maximize returns. Building on the strategies Graham has developed over 20 years as a market strategist, Into the Abyss gives readers a new framework for thinking about the markets and investing in the post-pandemic era.

THE DOWNTURN IS HERE! Harry Dent has been predicting for some time that we are about to enter a prolonged downturn, one that will be looked at by historians as a classic economic depression, due to demographic factors: one of the largest generations in history - the baby boomers - are leaving the workplace, either due to planned retirement or involuntarily (due to layoffs or not being able to find work), which will have a profound impact on all sectors of our economy. This economic downturn could have been swifter and the pain much less had the Fed allowed it to happen naturally. However, due to several rounds of quantitative easing, essentially pumping "free money" into the economy, the Fed has not only delayed the inevitable, but they have ensured that the downturn will be much longer and much more severe than it could have been. Harry Dent believes that the Fed cannot keep the bubble from popping much longer - and when it does pop, every individual will need to be prepared for a period he calls an "economic winter". In this book, you'll learn the personal and business strategies that will be essential to protect and preserve your assets and the few areas of the economy that will still do well during this winter period. This is essential reading for everyone, especially during a crisis.

“What will not surprise you is the wisdom, wit, and insight that Alex Pollock and Howard Adler bring to this indispensable guide to financial prophecy. The future may be a closed book, but you must open—and read—this one.”—James Grant, Grant’s Interest Rate Observer “Surprised Again! will demystify finance for students and give experts a deeper understanding of things they thought they knew.”—Christopher DeMuth, Distinguished Fellow, Hudson Institute and former President, American Enterprise Institute “A masterful survey of the financial sector and its post-COVID dependence on easy money from the Federal Reserve. This book is the first place to turn for a clear exposition of key financial topics—housing, municipal debt, pension funds, student loans, cryptocurrencies, and more. The reader will be surprised yet again at the extent of financial problems lurking below the surface.”—Thomas H. Stanton, Johns Hopkins University About every ten years, we are surprised by a financial crisis. In 2020, we were Surprised Again! by the financial panic of the spring triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic. Not one of the 30 official systemic risk studies developed in 2019 had even hinted at this financial crisis as a possibility, or at the frightening economic contraction which resulted from the political responses to control the virus. In response came the unprecedented government fiscal and monetary expansions and bailouts. Later 2020 brought a second big surprise: the appearance of an amazing boom in asset prices, including stocks, houses, and cryptocurrencies. Alex Pollock and Howard Adler lived through this historic instability while serving as senior officials of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Their book lays out the many elements of the panic and its aftermath, from the massive elastic currency operations which rode to the rescue by financing the bust with unprecedented government debt, to the consequent asset price boom, which included a renewed bubble in house prices financed by government guarantees. It considers key leveraged sectors such as commercial real estate, student loans, pension funds, banks, and the government itself. It reflects on how to understand these events both in retrospect and prospect.

In their 2004 book The Coming Collapse of the Dollar, James Turk and John Rubino advised readers to bet against the housing bubble before it popped and to buy gold before it soared. Those were literally the two best investment ideas of the decade. Now Turk and Rubino are back to say that history is about to repeat. Instead of addressing the causes of the 2008 financial crisis, the world's governments have continued along the same path, accumulating even more debt and inflating even bigger financial bubbles. So another -- even bigger -- crisis is coming. Whether it ends up being called a "crack-up boom" or "the End of Paper Money" or "the Second Great Depression," it will change everything, from the kinds of investments that create new fortunes to the kinds of money that most of us save and spend. Among many other things, the authors explain: * How governments are hiding the scope of the problems they face. * Why the world's paper currencies will soon stop functioning as money. * How you can protect your savings from the threats posed by this transition from "unsound" paper currencies to "sound" money like gold and silver. * How you can actually make money -- perhaps a lot of it -- during this transition. "Because the Money Bubble involves the world's major currencies rather than just a discrete asset class like houses or tech stocks, its bursting will be both far more devastating for the unprepared and far more profitable for those able to understand it and act accordingly. Our goal is to usher you into this small but happy second group." -- James Turk and John Rubino, The Money Bubble

The Essential Retirement Guide written by Frederick Vettese and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-11-12 with Business & Economics categories.

Retirement planning is difficult enough without having to contend with misinformation. Unfortunately, much of the advice that is dispensed is either unsubstantiated or betrays a strong vested interest. In The Essential Retirement Guide, Frederick Vettese analyses the most fundamental questions of retirement planning and offers some startling insights. The book finds, for example that: Saving 10 percent a year is not a bad rule of thumb if you could follow it, but there will be times when you cannot do so and it might not even be advisable to try. Most people never spend more than 50 percent of their gross income on themselves before retirement; hence their retirement income target is usually much less than 70 percent. Interest rates will almost certainly stay low for the next 20 years, which will affect how much you need to save. Even in this low-interest environment, you can withdraw 5 percent or more of your retirement savings each year in retirement without running out of money. Your spending in retirement will almost certainly decline at a certain age so you may not need to save quite as much as you think. As people reach the later stages of retirement, they become less capable of managing their finances, even though they grow more confident of their ability to do so! Plan for this before it is too late. Annuities have become very expensive, but they still make sense for a host of reasons. In addition, The Essential Retirement Guide shows how you can estimate your own lifespan and helps you to understand the financial implications of long-term care. Most importantly, it reveals how you can calculate your personal wealth target - the amount of money you will need by the time you retire to live comfortably. The author uses his actuarial expertise to substantiate his findings but does so in a jargon-free way.
