This book is about saving the lives of hundreds of “at risk” teens and my struggle as a young boy after migrating to Washington, DC from rural Mississippi in the early fifties. After my mother enrolled me in a public school, the guidance counselor evaluated my record and demoted me one grade. My teachers told me that I was not college material. We were a proud family and this treatment upon arrival only served to ignite a fi re in my mother and me. Not only did I excel, I applied, and was accepted to the prestigious Dunbar High School in Washington. I was sent to Detroit, Michigan by the Johnson Administration with a group of experts to examine the reasons behind the rioting, burning and destruction in 1967. It was there that I received my Masters Degree from Wayne State University in Detroit. It was here that I saw poverty, children who were underserved and uneducated. I saw mothers who were reaching out for assistance and desperately needed a helping hand, and I saw myself and my family in their eyes. HERE was my destiny - God had His hand on my life. Through faith, and working hard, I had overcome some difficult odds. I started on a never-ending path of teaching, mentoring, and child advocacy. I became a counselor for “at-risk” children. I earned my Doctorate from Virginia Tech and State University, I became a guidance counselor, a school principal, an acting Deputy Superintendent and more. I was an adjunct professor. As you continue to read, you will see why and how I feel I was predestined to serve and save the lives of young people. I want to inspire more people to reach out to “at risk” teens. They need more resources and not less.

Are you as close to God as you would like to be? Few Christians would claim to have fallen into overt sin, but many of us have allowed busyness, materialism, and the pursuit of pleasure to erode our spiritual lives. If you have been sidetracked from your journey with God, there is a pathway that leads home. Coming Home offers step-by-step guidance and encouragement to lead you back to your waiting Father. “Spiritual rain for your heart’s desert. Robert Jeffress is a world-class storyteller. Offers an easy to read, conscience-pricking pathway back to the heavenly Father who loves us.” --Bobb Biehl, President, Masterplanning Group International “For those who have strayed… Coming Home is worthy of your reading.” --Adrian Rogers, Host, “Love Worth Finding” “Robert Jeffress is right: living a God-honoring life is ‘no game for sissies.’ Both the culture in which we live and our own natural bent toward sin pull us away from the God we mean to follow. Coming Home points wandering believers back to a Father who not only waits, but welcomes us home again with open arms.” --Ed Young, Pastor, Second Baptist Church, Houston

Inspired by the concept of the prodigal son and based on the author's experiences, this is a unique and intimate story of spiritual awakening. Although largely biographical, it contains elements of an adventure story that follows the exploration of a universal divine essence and a greater reality of spirit. Both simple and profound, it conveys with disarming candidness the immediacy of the soul. This book will prove invaluable to those who are looking for life's deeper meaning in the face of modern challenges, and individuals who are searching for a greater spiritual understanding of the human experience. Included are a chart of the inner realms of the spirit and a CD audio tour of the reflective process.

“The strong, authentic voices of the women sharing their own narratives and awakenings from life without fathers is the power of this book.” —Esme AAMBC Non-Fiction Self-Help Book of the Year AAMBC Breakout Author of the Year He Never Came Home is a collection of twenty-two personal essays written by girls and women who have been separated from their fathers by way of divorce, abandonment, or death. The contributors to this collection come from a wide range of different backgrounds in terms of race, socioeconomic status, religion, and geographic location. Their essays offer deep insights into the emotions related to losing one’s father, including sadness, indifference, anger, acceptance—and everything in between. This book, edited by Essence magazine’s west coast editor Regina R. Robertson, is first and foremost an offering to young girls and women who have endured the loss of their fathers. But it also speaks to mothers who are raising girls without a father present, offering important perspective into their daughter’s feelings and struggles. The essays in He Never Came Home are organized into three categories: “Divorce,” “Distant,” and “Deceased.” With essays by contributors including Emmy Award-winning actress Regina King, fitness expert and New York Times bestselling author Gabrielle Reece, television comedy writer Jenny Lee—and a foreword by TV news anchor Joy-Ann Reid—this anthology illustrates the journey of the fatherless, and provides a space for these writers to express their pain, hope, and healing, minus any judgments and without apology.

The renowned analyst and author here provides deep insight into the process required to bring feminize wisdom to consciousness in a patriarchal culture—as struggle in which many women are more fully engaged today that ever before. Presenting the personal journeys of three wise women as maps, she points the way to the state of inner wholeness and balance she calls "conscious femininity."
