Excerpt from The Fats and Oils Situation, Vol. 170: Jan. 31, 1955 Increased exports are expected to reduce the carryover of food fats on September the end of the l95h 55 season. (most of the stocks at the beginning of the present crop year were owned by CCC.) Stocks will be substantially below the levels of the two previous years, despite-the record production in prospect. The decline would be the first major reduction of the postwar period, but total stocks, including butter, at the beginning of 195 5-56 still will be considerably larger than in any year prior to l953-5h. Excerpt from The Fats and Oils Situation, Vol. 195: March, 1959 Exports and domestic use of food fats and oils are expected to rise to new highs in the 1958-59 marketing year, but the record supply is much greater than probable market outlets, and a sharp increase in carryover on October 1 is likely. Most of the increase will be in soybeans though lard and vegetable oil stocks may be somewhat larger. These prospects indicate that prices of edible oils and lard during april-september 1959 will continue below the same months of 1958. Excerpt from The Fats and Oils Situation, Vol. 158: Nov.-Dec. 1952-Jan. 1953 Supplies of food fats in the current crop year are at a record level. Production is down compared with last year but stocks on October 1, the beginning of the crop year, were larger. Total disappearance, domestic plus exports, may be somewhat less than the year before and some increase in ending stocks probably will take place. The price depressing effect on vegetable oils of these large supplies, however, are being counter-balanced by the large quantities of cottonseed oil acquired by CCC under the support program for cottonseed. Excerpt from Fats and Oils Situation, Vol. 217: March 1963 Supplies of food fats and oils through next September, the end of the current marketing year, are expected to be slightly larger than last year. Ex ports and domestic use probably will continue high and likely will set new records for the entire 1962-63 marketing year. Carryover stocks next October l are expected to be about as large as last year, as reduced stocks of soybeans (on an oil equivalent basis) probably will about offset the anticipated increase in stocks of edible vegetable oils and lard. Butter stocks probably will be about as large as on October l, 1962, but otherwise the greatest since l95h. Current prospects indicate that prices of edible vegetable oils and lard probably will continue to remain relatively stable during april-september 1963. Cottonseed oil prices are expected to average at least as high as in the first half of the marketing year (october-mareh 1962-63) but slightly-below the april-september 1962 average. Soybean oil prices probably will average slightly higher in the second half of the 1962-63 marketing year than in the first half and somewhat above the april-september 1962 average.
