The Fellowship is a fast-paced, action/adventure thriller, which wends its way through exotic locales all the way to its shocking, slam-bang finish. After working his entire life to become wealthy, aged billionaire Jonas B. Dawson decides, why should smart, deserving young people work until retirement to live it up on a nest egg? Wouldn’t it be better to have it all up front while young and better able to enjoy it? This is the premise of Dawson’s fellowship, one million dollars given to Shawn Dawes, fresh out of the University of Chicago, with no strings attached. Simultaneously, Dawson’s largest business rival, James Hunt Robinson has discovered that Dawson is building a nuclear facility of unspecified purpose in the Idaho Rockies. As Shawn and his girlfriend Lisa travel the globe, they find themselves on a rapidly spiralling collision course between Dawson, Robinson, and the Fellowship.

Between 1961 and 1989 in East Germany, the Cold War border was crossed through the "Berlin Fellowship," an ecumenical visitation program. Under the watchful eye of East Germany's security police, the Stasi, East German Christians welcomed guests from the US into their congregations and homes for an hour, an evening, or a weekend of discussion, shared meals, and worship. The voice of 'the other' through Eastern recollections and perspectives on this unique form of koinonia reveal how fellowship can be missional and transformative. This book examines the intercultural history of the Berlin Fellowship during the Cold War. (Series: ContactZone. Explorations in Intercultural Theology - Vol. 14)

The Meinertzhagen Mystery written by Brian Garfield and has been published by Potomac Books, Inc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

Tall, handsome, charming Col. Richard Meinertzhagen (1878-1967) was an acclaimed British war hero, a secret agent, and a dean of international ornithology. His exploits inspired three biographies, movies have been based on his life, and a square in Jerusalem is dedicated to his memory. Meinertzhagen was trusted by Winston Churchill, David Lloyd George, Chaim Weizmann, David Ben Gurion, T. E. Lawrence, Elspeth Huxley, and a great many others. He bamboozled them all. Meinertzhagen was a fraud. Many of the adventures recorded in his celebrated diaries were imaginary, including a meeting with Hitler while he had a loaded pistol in his pocket, an attempt to rescue the Russian royal family in 1918, and a shoot-out with Arabs in Haifa when he was seventy years old. True, he was a key player in Middle Eastern events after World War I, and during the 1930s he represented Zionism's interests in negotiations with Germany. But he also set up Nazi front organizations in England, committed a half-century of major and costly scientific fraud, and -- oddly -- may have been innocent of many killings to which he confessed (e.g., the murder of his own polo groom -- a crime of which he cheerfully boasted, although the evidence suggests it never occurred at all). Further, he may have been guilty of at least one homicide of which he professed innocence. A compelling read about a flamboyant rogue, The Meinertzhagen Mystery shows how recorded history reflects not what happened, but what we believe happened.

Militant Minority written by Benjamin Isitt and has been published by University of Toronto Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-05-21 with History categories.

Militant Minority tells the compelling story of British Columbia workers who sustained a left tradition during the bleakest days of the Cold War. Through their continuing activism on issues from the politics of timber licenses to global questions of war and peace, these workers bridged the transition from an Old to a New Left. In the late 1950s, half of B.C.'s workers belonged to unions, but the promise of postwar collective bargaining spawned disillusionment tied to inflation and automation. A new working class that was educated, white collar, and increasingly rebellious shifted the locus of activism from the Communist Party and Co-operative Commonwealth Federation to the newly formed New Democratic Party, which was elected in 1972. Grounded in archival research and oral history, Militant Minority provides a valuable case study of one of the most organized and independent working classes in North America, during a period of ideological tension and unprecedented material advance.
