In this verse-by-verse study of Ephesians we will travel back to the creation of the Church by God through Jesus and discover all that God intended His Church to be. Find out what it means to be Christ-like, while learning why and how to use your spiritual gifts. We are all God's children whether we are a husband, wife, child, employee or employer, study how we are to relate to one another. The second part of this study is devoted to spiritual warfare. In this section you will use both the Old and New Testaments to witness God's character and read His promises to us as we fight in this unseen realm. He has given us armor and weapons to fight and defend ourselves while telling us the battle is His. Stephanie Pavlantos truly loves God's word. Raised in Dayton, Ohio as one of six children in a loving Christian family, she was strongly influenced by her father who she says modeled the importance of prayer and studying Scripture. Stephanie also credits a "godly mentor" who taught her the truths of God's word. She earned a B.S. degree in Biology from Ohio Northern University and is a certified histotechnologist. In addition to other experiences, Stephanie spent two years of her career doing cancer research. Throughout her life, she has always been active within the church, teaching many women's Bible studies as well as both children and adult Sunday school classes. She and her husband Mike have three children who she home schooled. Currently she is a stay-at-home mom, a church board member, and Sunday school superintendent.

“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” —1 Peter 5:5 A battle rages within every one of us every day. It’s the clash between our sense of stubborn self-sufficiency and God’s call to recognize that we’re really nothing without Him. It’s pride versus humility. And it’s a fight we can’t win without looking repeatedly to Christ and the cross. C. J. Mahaney raises a battle cry to daily, diligently, and deliberately weaken our greatest enemy (pride) and cultivate our greatest friend (humility). His thorough examination clarifies misconceptions, revealing the truth about why God detests pride and turns His active attention to the humble. Because pride is never passive, defeating it demands an intentional attack. The blessing that follows is God’s abundant favor. “This is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit.” —Isaiah 66:2, ESV God clearly states that He is drawn to the humble. He’s also clear that He opposes the proud. These two, humility and pride, cannot coexist. Where one is fostered, the other is defeated. Which will you pursue? When you acknowledge the deception of pride and intentionally humble yourself, you become free to savor abundant mercies and unlikely graces. You will find a new life is yours—a life God richly favors. A God-glorifying life you don’t want to miss.

Feeling worn thin? Come find rest. The Blue Ridge Parkway meanders through miles of rolling Virginia mountains. It’s a route made famous by natural beauty and the simple rhythms of rural life. And it’s in this setting that Hannah Anderson began her exploration of what it means to pursue a life of peace and humility. Fighting back her own sense of restlessness and anxiety, she finds herself immersed in the world outside, discovering a classroom full of forsythia, milkweed, and a failed herb garden. Lessons about soil preparation, sour mulch, and grapevine blights reveal the truth about our dependence on God, finding rest, and fighting discontentment. Humble Roots is part theology of incarnation and part stroll through the fields and forest. Anchored in the teaching of Jesus, Anderson explores how cultivating humility—not scheduling, strict boundaries, or increased productivity—leads to peace. “Come unto me, all who labor and are heavy laden,” Jesus invites us, “and you will find rest for your souls.” So come. Learn humility from the lilies of the field and from the One who is humility Himself. Remember who you are and Who you are not, and rediscover the rest that comes from belonging to Him.

How do I humble myself? Humility, according to the Bible, is not something we can just up and do. Both the negative and positive examples of Scripture—from Pharaoh to Rehoboam, from Josiah to Ahab, from Hezekiah to Manasseh, and even to Christ himself—teach us that humility first comes from the hand of God. He initiates the humbling of his creatures. And once he has, the question confronts us: Will you receive it? Will you humble yourself in response to his humbling hand, or will you kick against him? This concise, accessible study of Scripture’s humble-self language uncovers two surprising lessons about the pursuit of humility in the Christian—both what we cannot do and also what steps we can take.

The Humble Church written by Martyn Percy and has been published by Canterbury Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-03-31 with Religion categories.

In this bold and provocative invitation, Martyn Percy imagines what the post-pandemic Church might look like and sets out what it needs to learn. It argues that the Church needs to stop obsessing about itself – its size, its strategies to shore up decline, its waning public influence – and rediscover how to live as the body of Christ. In other words, what does it need to do in order to become more like Christ? As Christ poured out his life for the sake of others, he considers ways in which the Church might imitate Christ in practice today. Whenever Jesus visited anywhere beyond the confines of the Jewish community he immediately became socially useful, and so this extols such virtues as humble service in the community, not because it is an effective way to grow the Church, but because it is faithful to Christ’s own example. Avoiding responses such as exasperation, righteous anger at shortcomings or wishful thinking about returning to the past, he sets out a vision for the Church's future that is both biblical and christological. Incisive, imaginative and engagingly written, this will resonate deeply with many lay and ordained members of the Church.

Pride And Humility written by John Brenneman and has been published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-09-01 with categories.

The following essay on Pride and Humility appeared some time ago in the Herald of Truth, and is now published in pamphlet form with additions and improvements, at the request of some of the brethren who have thought it proper and needful to republish the same for distribution, as a warning and a call to the proud, and an admonition and encouragement to all Christian believers, especially Mennonites, to remind them of their duties toward themselves and their children. May the God of grace (without whose help and blessing all our efforts are vain) grant his blessing on this humble work, which was written from good motives, and may it be a powerful and effectual voice of warning to many hearts, to convict them and move them to reflect, in this precious day of grace, on their soul's eternal salvation and peace. Yea, God grant that it may be a refreshment and a blessing to many a lukewarm and weary heart, and that it may redound to his honor alone, is the ardent prayer of the humble writer. Amen.

Humble Pie written by Carol Bonomo and has been published by Church Publishing, Inc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-03-01 with Religion categories.

Take a quick look around – politicians, entertainers, sports figures, and even our own circles of family and friends: Humble pie is not on the menu. It’s a me-first society that turns pride into a virtue and humility into a vice. But Christians – especially those who follow the Rule of St. Benedict – are encouraged to embrace humility as a virtue that leads them closer to Christ. And in this upside-down Benedictine world, we reach humility not by descending to the depths but by climbing, joyfully, to the top of a ladder. In this honest, funny, touching book, Carol Bonomo, a Benedictine oblate – a person vowed to live according to the fourth-century Rule – reconciles the conflict between the world’s call and Benedict’s more gentle admonition as she examines the twelve rungs on Benedict’s ladder against the backdrop of the liturgical year. From the first rung, obedience, during Advent, to the twelfth, constancy, during the feast of All Saints, Bonomo studies what it means for a contemporary Christian to climb the ladder of humility that leads to perfect, fearless love. Bonomo, with a light hand and a sense of humor, takes readers along on her down-to-earth spiritual adventure.
