It is true, that without the flight of Dr. Sven's ship, the Earth would still be as far ahead; the Martians would still have come, but that does not detract from the honor and glory forever associated with the names of Professor Wilhelm Riehm, the founder of the science of transmutation, and Dr. Jarl Svens, who developed it. I challenge Martia, the super race of Mars, to bring up a scientist to compare with either of these two: And I may add that quite by accident I came across the little sub-plot which goes with story of the arrival of the First Martian. I'm certain no one ever heard of Gregory Stewart before.

In late May of the year 2027, Mothership, Mars One, settled into orbit around the red planet with ten astronauts on board. Mars One carried four unmanned descent vehicles that would become a habitat for humans on the surface of the red planet. The fifth vehicle was a reusable shuttle with seats for eight astronauts or the equivalent cargo. Over the next 36 hours, all four of the unmanned habitat module were separated from the Mothership and guided to a safe landing on the surface below. Then the grapples holding the shuttle to the Mothership were released and thrusters eased it clear. When the descent window opened, the retrorockets fired, and eight humans were on their way to the surface of Mars for a stay of two years or more.The pair of astronauts who remained in orbit would return Mars One to Earth during the 2029 Earth-Mars opposition. The ship would carry five passengers and nearly a half ton of soil, rock, and mineral samples. Mars Two, with a new crew on board, would take its place in Mars orbit with a payload of five more descent vehicles and replacement personnel. Two years later Mars One would be back with four modules full of equipment and supplies and an unmanned reusable shuttle with a cargo bay. The cargo shuttle would eventually make a total of eight round trips to the surface to deliver supplies on demand. How all this came about is a story to be told.
