Academic Paper from the year 2020 in the subject Business economics - Law, grade: 4,75 / 5, Vrije University Brussel, language: English, abstract: This text analyses why the Four European Freedoms are such important elements of the development of the EU. In our daily life it seems to be normal that we can travel from one European Member State to another without any passport or custom control; that we can live, work, study and do business everywhere in the EU. In every Member State at least more than two-thirds and overall 81% support the related Freedom of "Free Movement of Persons". The Freedom of Movement of Persons is one of the "Four Freedoms" that are fundamental for the EU.

Document from the year 2014 in the subject Politics - Topic: European Union, grade: 2,0, , language: English, abstract: In 1992 the European Union established a huge European Single Market, which includes its 28 Member States as well as Liechtenstein, Iceland, Norway and Switzerland. It contains four freedoms that guarantee free movements of goods, services, capital and people. With a possession of 4.325 Mio. km2 and 493 Mio. citizens it is one of the biggest internal markets on earth. Due to the omitted border formalities people are free to choose their place of residence, university and work place. But also the increasing quantity of goods followed by much more competition on the market in the EU leads to a price advantage for the consumers and therefore to a competitive position on the international market. Furthermore, the European Union framed some rules and additives to regulate the domestic market, like the implementation of a single currency in year 2001. In addition particular minimum standards, common standards for the environment, energy political measures, arrangements for consumer protection, a common transport policy, research funding as well as a solidary contribution for less developed Member States exist or are in process in the new regions which now belong to the EU. But there is still plenty of room for improvement with regard to the implementation of these regulations. Actually critics suppose that the transformation of normal markets in different countries into an internal market for all countries is a dubious method with incidental negative ancillary effects with unpredictable extents for the future. On account of this, the Research Paper primarily implies an explanation of the four freedoms of the European Union’s Single Market considerably. Secondly the main advantages as well as the disadvantages of the internal European trade are carved out and analysed.

Comparative Company Law written by Carsten Gerner-Beuerle and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-05-06 with Law categories.

Comparative Company Law provides a systematic and coherent exposition of company law across jurisdictions, augmented by extracts taken from key judgments, legislation, and scholarly works. It provides an overview of the legal framework of company law in the US, the UK, Germany, and France, as well as the legislative measures adopted by the EU and the relevant case law of the Court of Justice. The comparative analysis of legal frameworks is firmly grounded in legal history and legal and economic theory and bolstered by numerous extracts (including extracts in translation) that offer the reader an invaluable insight into how the law operates in context. The book is an essential guide to how company law cuts across borders, and how different jurisdictions shape the corporate lifespan from its formation by way of incorporation to its demise (corporate insolvency) and eventual dissolution. In addition, it offers an introduction to the nature of the corporation, the framework of EU company law, incorporation and corporate representation, agency problems in the firm, rights of stakeholders and shareholders, neutrality and defensive measures in corporate control transactions, legal capital, piercing the corporate veil, and corporate insolvency and restructuring law.

This Brochure on E-education, Nr. 1, focuses the Web in education, in particular E-education (Electronically Enhanced Education). The text accomplishes many thoughts and observations laid down in the four 2004-2006 Volumes on The Principles of E-education. E-education could not emerge without the Web as an icon for electronic communication and technique. Together with the Net, cyberspace's concepts shaped major domains of modern society, including norms as well as thought patterns and behaviors. E-education covers one of the most influential cultural complexities-intergenerational transference-and is by no means identical with the Web or the Internet. This is one of the interesting perspectives of the Brochure. Students and teachers who experience 'being online', and develop a positive attitude in that regard, are not unbalanced involved in or even enslaved by the Web. E-education integrates Web elements, its data and its Internet provisions with non-electronic devices. Those form a specific Education Environment that sustains the acquiring of a variety of skills, insights and attitudes, which are ultimately the outset of a well-educated citizen. Their establishment of Intranet Sites is a special form of using the Web, with many guarantees not to become involved in the Internet mediated Web vices. The brochure explains how parental fears that their kids will via E-education automatically enter problematic sites, spend time in Internet-driven chat boxes or mail systems, or operate Internet-related handhelds with inappropriate films and texts, are misled in not appreciating the difference between an education Intranet and the Web-related Internet.

Addresses a critical analysis of major media policies in the European Union and Council of Europe at the period of profound changes affecting both media environments and use, as well as the logic of media policy-making and reconfiguration of traditional regulatory models. The analytical problem-related approach seems to better reflect a media policy process as an interrelated part of European integration, formation of European citizenship, and exercise of communication rights within the European communicative space. The question of normative expectations is to be compared in this case with media policy rationales, mechanisms of implementation (transposing rules from EU to national levels), and outcomes.

Investigating the extent to which the European Union can be defined as a "highly competitive social market economy", this edited collection illustrates and tests the constitutional reverberations of Art. 3(3) of the Treaty on the European Union, and discusses its actual and potential transformative effect. In the aftermath of Brexit, and in the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, the book is particularly timely and topical, offering new and deeper insights on the complex and constantly evolving social dimension of the EU, ultimately reflecting on how the objective of (re)constituting the EU as a "highly competitive social market economy" might best be achieved.

The only comprehensive professional handbook on EuroPsy, the European standard and benchmark for education and training in psychology. This book is mandatory reading for anyone involved with accreditation, education, quality assurance, and assessment of standards in psychology. EuroPsy has been accepted and adopted as the European standard for education and training in psychology by EFPA. This book, written by its initiator and leading members of the working groups that set EuroPsy up, is the only comprehensive text available about this European benchmark. It first reviews the development of EuroPsy in the historical context of psychology as science and profession and policies for higher education set by international bodies, and in particular the European Union. This handbook then goes on to address the curricula of university courses and programmes following from the Bologna Agreement, the flexibility allowed to reflect diversity in Europe, licencing and accreditation, and benchmarking, as well as other prerequisites for meeting the EuroPsy standards. These include the use of a competence model to assure professional standards, supervision, continued professional development, supervision, and ethics. Finally, the authors examine the current and future role of EuroPsy in psychology in Europe, including practical examples of how EuroPsy has been applied in practice.

Europe Entrapped written by Claus Offe and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-01-28 with Political Science categories.

Today Europe finds itself in a crisis that casts a dark shadow over an entire generation. The seriousness of the crisis stems from one core political contradiction at the heart of the European project: namely, that what urgently needs to be done is also extremely unpopular and therefore virtually impossible to do democratically. What must be done - and almost everyone agrees in principle on the measures that would be needed to deal with the financial crisis - cannot be sold to the voting public of the core member states, which so far have been less affected by the crisis than those on the periphery, nor can the conditions that core members try to impose be easily sold to voters in the deficit countries. The European Union is therefore becoming increasingly disunited, with deepening divides between the German-dominated ‘core’ and the southern ‘periphery’, between the winners and the losers of the common currency, between the advocates of greater integration and the anti-Europeans, between the technocrats and the populists. Europe finds itself trapped by the deepening divisions that are opening up across the Continent, obstructing its ability to deal with a crisis that has already caused massive social suffering in the countries of the European periphery and is threatening to derail the very project of the European Union. In this short book, Claus Offe brings into sharp focus the central political problem that lies at the heart of the EU and shackles its ability to deal with the most serious crisis of its short history.

Brexit And The Digital Single Market written by Alison Harcourt and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-07-27 with Law categories.

The Digital Single Market (DSM) comprised numerous Directives, Regulations, and other instruments aimed at facilitating cross-border digital services, including access to banking, shopping, streaming, and satellite television across European Union borders without restrictions. With one-fifth of service exports stemming from the digital sector, the DSM was vital for the UK, with the EU representing its largest digital services export market. Brexit and the Digital Single Market examines the important historical role of the UK in DSM development, the consequences of Brexit for the UK's digital sector, and future EU and UK policy trajectories. The book illuminates how the UK continues to innovate in the digital sector but also how it is constrained by external factors both at EU and global levels. It considers how EU policy is taking a new direction in its 2020 Digital Strategy programme which leans towards greater protection of European champions and digital sovereignty, a tightening of its data protection regime, and greater regulatory intervention in digital markets. Timely and unprecedented, Brexit and the Digital Single Market is the first volume to comprehensively cover the implications of Brexit on the EU's DSM. This is an essential read for students and academics in political science and law, as well as civil servants, regulators, and policy makers working within the digital sector.
