Geometry Language And Strategy written by Gerald H. Thomas and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006 with Mathematics categories.

Geometry, Language and Strategy is a way of looking at game theory or strategic decision-making from a scientific perspective, using standard equations from the fields of engineering and physics. To better approximate reality, it extends game theory beyond the two-player set piece. The book begins where former game theory literature ends OCo with multi-person games on a world stage. It encompasses many of the variables encountered in strategic planning, using mathematics borrowed from physics and engineering, rather than the economic models which have not proven to be good in predicting reality. Sample Chapter(s). Chapter 1: Introduction (1,364 KB). Contents: Rules-of-the-Game; Flow of Strategic-Mass; Game Symmetries; Analysis; Graphical Presentation; Applications and Open Problems; Appendices: Thermodynamics; Symmetry in Differential Geometry; Central Strategies; Single Strategy Model; Single Strategy Numerical Solutions; Streamlines; Player Fluid. Readership: Mathematicians and scientists who wish to broaden their understanding of economic possibilities using game theory."

Geometry Of The Passions written by Remo Bodei and has been published by University of Toronto Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-01-01 with History categories.

The passions have long been condemned as a creator of disturbance and purveyor of the temporary loss of reason, but as Remo Bodei argues in Geometry of the Passions, we must abandon the perception that order and disorder are in a constant state of collision. By means of a theoretical and historical analysis, Bodei interprets the relationship between passion and reason as a conflict between two complementary logics. Geometry of the Passions investigates the paradoxical conflict-collaboration between passions and reason, and between individual and political projects. Tracing the roles passion and reason have played throughout history, including in the political agendas of Descartes, Hobbes, and the French Jacobins, Geometry of the Passions reveals how passion and reason may be used as a vehicle for affirmation rather than self-enslavement.

The analysis of Euclidean space is well-developed. The classical Lie groups that act naturally on Euclidean space-the rotations, dilations, and trans lations-have both shaped and guided this development. In particular, the Fourier transform and the theory of translation invariant operators (convolution transforms) have played a central role in this analysis. Much modern work in analysis takes place on a domain in space. In this context the tools, perforce, must be different. No longer can we expect there to be symmetries. Correspondingly, there is no longer any natural way to apply the Fourier transform. Pseudodifferential operators and Fourier integral operators can playa role in solving some of the problems, but other problems require new, more geometric, ideas. At a more basic level, the analysis of a smoothly bounded domain in space requires a great deal of preliminary spadework. Tubular neighbor hoods, the second fundamental form, the notion of "positive reach", and the implicit function theorem are just some of the tools that need to be invoked regularly to set up this analysis. The normal and tangent bundles become part of the language of classical analysis when that analysis is done on a domain. Many of the ideas in partial differential equations-such as Egorov's canonical transformation theorem-become rather natural when viewed in geometric language. Many of the questions that are natural to an analyst-such as extension theorems for various classes of functions-are most naturally formulated using ideas from geometry.

This volume contains the proceedings of the AMS Special Session on Geometry of Submanifolds, held from October 25–26, 2014, at San Francisco State University, San Francisco, CA, and the AMS Special Session on Recent Advances in the Geometry of Submanifolds: Dedicated to the Memory of Franki Dillen (1963–2013), held from March 14–15, 2015, at Michigan State University, East Lansing, Ml. The focus of the volume is on recent studies of submanifolds of Riemannian, semi-Riemannian, Kaehlerian and contact manifolds. Some of these use techniques in classical differential geometry, while others use methods from ordinary differential equations, geometric analysis, or geometric PDEs. By brainstorming on the fundamental problems and exploring a large variety of questions studied in submanifold geometry, the editors hope to provide mathematicians with a working tool, not just a collection of individual contributions. This volume is dedicated to the memory of Franki Dillen, whose work in submanifold theory attracted the attention of and inspired many geometers.

Geometry Transformed Euclidean Plane Geometry Based On Rigid Motions written by James R. King and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-04-26 with Education categories.

Many paths lead into Euclidean plane geometry. Geometry Transformed offers an expeditious yet rigorous route using axioms based on rigid motions and dilations. Since transformations are available at the outset, interesting theorems can be proved sooner; and proofs can be connected to visual and tactile intuition about symmetry and motion. The reader thus gains valuable experience thinking with transformations, a skill that may be useful in other math courses or applications. For students interested in teaching mathematics at the secondary school level, this approach is particularly useful since geometry in the Common Core State Standards is based on rigid motions. The only prerequisite for this book is a basic understanding of functions. Some previous experience with proofs may be helpful, but students can also learn about proofs by experiencing them in this book—in a context where they can draw and experiment. The eleven chapters are organized in a flexible way to suit a variety of curriculum goals. In addition to a geometrical core that includes finite symmetry groups, there are additional topics on circles and on crystallographic and frieze groups, and a final chapter on affine and Cartesian coordinates. The exercises are a mixture of routine problems, experiments, and proofs.

Several Complex Variables And The Geometry Of Real Hypersurfaces written by John P. D'Angelo and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-07-16 with Mathematics categories.

Several Complex Variables and the Geometry of Real Hypersurfaces covers a wide range of information from basic facts about holomorphic functions of several complex variables through deep results such as subelliptic estimates for the ?-Neumann problem on pseudoconvex domains with a real analytic boundary. The book focuses on describing the geometry of a real hypersurface in a complex vector space by understanding its relationship with ambient complex analytic varieties. You will learn how to decide whether a real hypersurface contains complex varieties, how closely such varieties can contact the hypersurface, and why it's important. The book concludes with two sets of problems: routine problems and difficult problems (many of which are unsolved). Principal prerequisites for using this book include a thorough understanding of advanced calculus and standard knowledge of complex analysis in one variable. Several Complex Variables and the Geometry of Real Hypersurfaces will be a useful text for advanced graduate students and professionals working in complex analysis.
