Edgar Wallace was a hugely successful author who over the course of his career produced some 173 books and seventeen plays. These were largely adventure narratives with elements of crime or mystery, and usually combined a bombastic sensationalism with hammy violence. First published in 1929, 'The Ghost of Down Hill' is one of his best-remembered novellas. Many of the earliest ghost stories and tales of hauntings, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. We are republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork.

“The Ghost Stories of Charles Dickens” is a collection of twenty of Charles Dickens's best ghost stories, including his famous “Christmas Carol”. A fantastic teller of macabre tales, Dickens presents his full gothic talents in this chilling collection. The stories include: “The Queer Chair - The Bagman's Story”, “A Madman's Manuscript”, “The Goblins who Stole a Sexton”, “The Ghosts of the Mail - The Story of The Bagman's uncle”, “The Baron of Grogzwig”, “To be Read at Dusk”, “Ghost in the Bride's Chamber”, and more. Charles John Huffam Dickens (1812–1870) was an English writer and social critic famous for having created some of the world's most well-known fictional characters. His works became unprecedentedly popular during his life, and today he is commonly regarded as the greatest Victorian-era novelist. Although perhaps better known for such works as “Great Expectations” and “A Christmas Carol”, Dickens first gained success with the 1836 serial publication of “The Pickwick Papers”, which turned him almost overnight into an international literary celebrity thanks to his humour, satire, and astute observations concerning society and character. This classic work is being republished now in a new edition complete with a specially-commissioned new biography of the author.

Chemistry teacher Redlaw is stuck in the past and obsessed with wrongs done to him. When faced with a phantom twin, Redlaw agrees to erase his memories of past grievances and must endure the unexpected consequences of doing so. The fifth and last of Dickens's Christmas novellas, "The Haunted Man" concentrates more on spirit of the holidays than the holidays themselves and is reminiscent of “A Christmas Carol”. Dickens's Christmas novels perfectly enraptured the spirit of the Victorian Christmas revival and even inspired a number of traditional aspects of the holiday, including seasonal food and drink, family gatherings, dancing, and more. Mrs Zant And The Ghost The Ghost S Touch Fantasy And Horror Classics written by Wilkie Collins and has been published by Read Books Ltd this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-04-03 with Fiction categories.

This early work by Wilkie Collins was originally published in 1885. Born in Marylebone, London in 1824, Collins' family enrolled him at the Maida Hill Academy in 1835, but then took him to France and Italy with them between 1836 and 1838. Returning to England, Collins attended Cole's boarding school, and completed his education in 1841, after which he was apprenticed to the tea merchants Antrobus & Co. in the Strand. In 1846, Collins became a law student at Lincoln's Inn, and was called to the bar in 1851, although he never practiced. It was in 1848, a year after the death of his father, that he published his first book, The Memoirs of the Life of William Collins, Esq., R.A., to good reviews. The 1860s saw Collins' creative high-point, and it was during this decade that he achieved fame and critical acclaim, with his four major novels, The Woman in White (1860), No Name (1862), Armadale (1866) and The Moonstone (1868). The Moonstone, meanwhile is seen by many as the first true detective novel - T. S. Eliot called it "the first, the longest, and the best of modern English detective novels...in a genre invented by Collins and not by Poe." Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900's and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. We are republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions.

This is one ghost who is determined to get his way—no matter what the price—in this frighteningly fun addition to the You’re Invited to a Creepover series. Maggie Kim’s parents have always dreamed of operating their own hotel, so when the historic Wharton Mansion goes up for sale, they see it as the perfect opportunity to open their own ski lodge. This weekend, Maggie and her family are going to check the place out and perhaps even buy it on the spot. But Maggie doesn’t want to move to a run-down old mansion all the way up on a desolate mountain—and neither does the ghost that lives there…a ghost that will stop at nothing to get his way. This tale is a level 4 on the Creep-o-Meter. Super scary!
