A fictionalized account on one man's journey through a "theme park of life" after being implored by his dying fiancee to go and discover... Trapped in a prison of his past so he can't see the possibilities, the gifts and the choices available to him, his journey is our journey. Based on Brendon's experience teaching and coaching, he realizes that people never transform the quality of their lives unless their hearts and minds are truly engaged in changing - they need to have a deep, emotional reason to change. This beautiful, engaging story of love, loss and redemption will connect with people immediately. It will also cause readers to think and reflect on their lives more deeply, become more aware of their own life stories, accept their authentic selves, and become accountable for who they are. Brendon reaches out to engage hearts and minds in transforming lives with emotional edge and mental clarity. What is this golden ticket? And what kind of life does it really gain us admission to? The chapters are arranged into life lessons around 4 gates to transformation: Awareness, Acceptance, Accountability, and Action. "Whatever you do, pay the price of admission for Life's Golden Ticket! This book is entertaining, provocative and loaded with wisdom. Honestly, this is the most original book I've read in years!" (Bill Treasurer, CEO, Giant Leap Consulting and author of Right Risk - Ten Powerful Principles for Taking Giant Leaps with Your Life) "I read the story in one sitting, I just couldn't put it down. I cried, I laughed, I cheered, I wondered where it was all going - and when I finished, I was so thankful for the journey" (K C George, Corporate Program Manager, VISA USA) "Life's Golden Ticket is wise without being preachy, inspiring without forgetting insight, entertaining without sacrificing empowerment. Brendon Burchard shows incredible depth, compassion, and wisdom on every page. He has given us a true gift." (Kelley Graham, Director, Levi Strauss & Co)

The P-NP problem is the most important open problem in computer science, if not all of mathematics. Simply stated, it asks whether every problem whose solution can be quickly checked by computer can also be quickly solved by computer. The Golden Ticket provides a nontechnical introduction to P-NP, its rich history, and its algorithmic implications for everything we do with computers and beyond. Lance Fortnow traces the history and development of P-NP, giving examples from a variety of disciplines, including economics, physics, and biology. He explores problems that capture the full difficulty of the P-NP dilemma, from discovering the shortest route through all the rides at Disney World to finding large groups of friends on Facebook. The Golden Ticket explores what we truly can and cannot achieve computationally, describing the benefits and unexpected challenges of this compelling problem.

A middle grade novel by Kate Egan, Golden Ticket, explores friendship, academic anxiety, and what it means to be special. “It’s practically like a private school,” Mrs. Silver said bitterly. “The best teacher, for such a tiny group of students. Who wouldn’t succeed in a class like that?” She took off her sunglasses to glare at the dad. “Those kids get picked out when they’re seven years old, and they get handed a golden ticket. Of course they become stars.” Eleven-year-old Ash McNulty is one of the “gifted and talented” kids at her school, spending most of her day in a special class with a few other advanced students. As the end of fifth grade rolls around, she should be on top of the world. According to everyone, she’s going to rock junior high! But Ash has a secret: She can’t keep up with her advanced classmates anymore. The minute she asks for help though, everyone will know she’s not who they think she is. She’s not so smart. She might not even be that special. And her parents will be crushed to discover the truth. If Ash can win the Quiz Bowl, though, that will show everyone that she is still on top. If she gets a lucky break ahead of time, all the better. Except that “lucky break” backfires . . . And Ash is left to question everything she thought she knew about school, friends, and success.

It's been over 55 years since Roald Dahl's classic "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" hit bookshelves across the world and yet continues to be one of the most sought-after children's novels. The book was adapted into a movie in 1971 with Gene Wilder in the titular role. The story follows the adventures of five lucky children who win Golden Tickets to visit the magical Chocolate Factory set up by Willy Wonka. The factory is full of surprises and one that leaves onlookers amused! Willy decides to open the doors of his factory to 5 young children for a once in a lifetime experience. Charlie Bucket, one of the main protagonists of the movie, lives with his parents and grandparents in a humble household. They belong to a financially backward community and have cabbage soup on most days. The Golden Ticket that Charlie wins is hidden inside one of Wonka's famous chocolate bars, leaving his grandfather ecstatic! But before he wins his ticket, Augustus Gloop wins the first coveted Golden Ticket. He is an overweight kid who is often at the receiving end of jokes since he loves stuffing his mouth with food. The first girl who wins the ticket is Veruca Salt, an obnoxious kid who throws tantrums to get what she wants. Violet Beauregarde is the other one and an over-enthusiastic girl who ends up turning into a giant blueberry at the factory. Mike Teave is the fifth child to win the ticket and is eliminated from the factory after he jumps into the television. From chocolate fountains to wallpapers that taste like fruits, Wonka puts out brilliant chocolate/candy themed inventions. My personal favorite must be the three-course gum and giant Gummy Bears! In case you are wondering what I'm talking about, read on to find out more!

What do we, as parents, really mean when we say we want the best for our children? Irena Smith tackles this question from a unique vantage point: as a former Stanford admissions officer, a private Palo Alto college counselor, and a mother of three children who struggle to find their place in the long shadow of Stanford University. Written as a series of responses to actual college essay prompts, this witty, raw memoir takes the reader from the smoke-filled lobby of the Hebrew Aid Society in Rome, where Irena and her parents await asylum with other Soviet refugees in 1977, to the overpriced house she and her husband buy in Palo Alto in 1999, to the hushed inner sanctum of the Stanford admissions office. Irena grows a successful college counseling practice but struggles to reconcile the lofty aspirations of tightly wound, competitive high school seniors (and their anxious parents) with her own attempts to keep her family from unraveling as, one by one, her children are diagnosed with autism, learning differences, depression, and anxiety. And although she doesn’t initially understand her children—or how to help them—she will not stop stumbling and learning until she figures it out. The Golden Ticket opens a much-needed conversation about extreme parenting, the weight of generational expectations, and what happens when Gen-X dreams meet unexpected realities. It's a sharp-eyed depiction of hard-won triumphs and of the messy, challenging parts of parenting you won't see on Facebook or Instagram. Above all, it's an invitation to embrace a broader, more generous definition of success.
