Augustine, the man with upturned eye, with pen in the left hand, and a burning heart in the right (as he is usually represented), is a philosophical and theological genius of the first order, towering like a pyramid above his age, and looking down commandingly upon succeeding centuries. He had a mind uncommonly fertile and deep, bold and soaring; and with it, what is better, a heart full of Christian love and humility. He stands of right by the side of the greatest philosophers of antiquity and of modern times. We meet him alike on the broad highways and the narrow footpaths, on the giddy Alpine heights and in the awful depths of speculation, wherever philosophical thinkers before him or after him have trod. As a theologian he is facile princeps, at least surpassed by no church father, schoolman, or reformer. With royal munificence he scattered ideas in passing, which have set in mighty motion other lands and later times. He combined the creative power of Tertullian with the churchly spirit of Cyprian, the speculative intellect of the Greek church with the practical tact of the Latin. He was a Christian philosopher and a philosophical theologian to the full.

“After the conviction and condemnation of the Pelagian heresy with its authors by the bishops of the Church of Rome,—first Innocent, and then Zosimus,—with the co-operation of letters of African councils, I wrote two books against them: one On the Grace of Christ, and the other On Original Sin. The work began with the following words: How greatly we rejoice on account of your bodily, and, above all, because of your Spiritual welfare.’“ Aeterna Press

The title of this book places man between God, who loves each of us as we do our own children, and the sin that he cannot tolerate. Like Paul, we find ourselves doing the things we do not want to do and failing to do the things we know we should do. We are helpless sinners and cannot save ourselves. But have we as churches and church leaders made things worse by creating a state of confusion about what sin is? Have we become the Pharisees of the twenty-first century? Sin, Man, and the Grace of God gives every Christian an easy tool to discover the truth about sin, not from man but straight from God's word. The sincere hope for the book is stimulate a serious study by clergy to look at what they teach God's followers and why they teach it. God makes it clear that teachers will be judged much more severely because of their ability to lead people astray. The time has come for all Christian denominations to rise up and bring an end to traditions and teachings that do not come from God's word and place unnecessary burdens on man. It is possible to be unified, becoming one church, one faith, and believers of one God just as God himself desires.

For two thousand years, theologians have been attempting to explain the Bible's book of Revelation. The mysterious last plague, also known as the "seventh vial," was explained to John by the angel of the Lord and documented in two chapters within Revelation. For centuries, it was a fiercely debated topic because it had not happened yet-until September 11, 2001. In a comprehensive and enlightening biblical study, Larry Ammons extracts forty verses from the two chapters and matches them with forty events that took place at the World Trade Center at the beginning of the twenty-first century. Through fact-based evidence and Bible epigraphs, Ammons demonstrates how and why the ancient prophecies have come true and reveals by truth, not coincidence, how ten men were allowed powers as kings for an hour and forever changed the world in the process. The Grace of Sin is a unique presentation of facts that examines the seventh plague in the book of Revelation, compares biblical facts with actual events, and reveals shocking truths.

One of the greatest hindrances within the church is that Christians don't believe what God has declared, that those who are in Christ have been freed from both sin, and the law that condemned sin. Scriptures teach that through one man, Adam, sin came into the world, and through that offense, mankind came under bondage to sin. Yet the Bible then explains that the grace that came through Christ much more abounded over the sin that came through Adam, and that Jesus appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.God declared that His grace much more abounded over sin, but the church believes that sin abounds over the grace that came through Christ. We have been taught to believe that our sin can defeat the work of Christ, instead of being taught that as we learn to walk in grace by faith, sin cannot stand. People resist what has been called hypergrace because they fear sin, when the Bible teaches that sin cannot have dominion over those who walk by faith.God has revealed grace so we can understand that there is no barrier between us and perfect fellowship with God. The Old Testament believers were forbidden to come into God's presence, but once Christ conquered sin, the veil that stood between us and God's holiness was torn from heaven's side down to man. Now we are commanded to come confidently before God without fear, because Jesus made and end of sin. Until you understand grace, and how it is the defeat of sin, you will never grow beyond superficial Christianity. My prayer is that this book will be a tool to guide you into faith in His grace.

The Biology Of Sin written by Matthew S. Stanford and has been published by Biblica this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010 with Religion categories.

Can I pray and believe enough to stop sinning? There are heated discussions happening on the conflict between science and faith. This disagreement tends to focus around three main issues, one of them being what causes our sinful behavior. The intense conflict has to do with biblically defined sinful behaviors and if there just might be a biological predisposition for these behaviors. The Biology of Sin speaks to this debate and hopefully brings some resolution to the conflict. As both a Christian and a neuroscientist, Dr. Stanford has seen scientific knowledge distorted to justify sinful behavior and perhaps more disturbingly, he has seen Christians misuse Scripture to demonize and alienate the very ones they should be reaching out to. He suggests that the underlying cause of this problem in the church is a lack of knowledge, both of basic brain function and scriptural teaching. The Biology of Sin discusses sinful behaviors, including adultery, rage, addiction, and homosexuality, asking of each: "What does science say, and what does the Bible say about this behavior?" He then attempts to reconcile the fact that biological predispositions do play a role in behavior which the Bible defines as sinful while always emphasizing the authority of God's Holy Word and the abundant grace he has for those struggling with habitual sin.

In this first volume of Sin, Grace and Free Will, Matthew Knell embarks on a journey through centuries of Christian thought, from the Apostolic Fathers to St Augustine of Hippo. While the themes of sin, grace and free will are familiar to any Christian, Knell provides a comprehensive overview of how people such as Irenaeus, Gregory of Nazianzus and Augustine explored these ideas, following the development of early church philosophy on topics such as the problem of evil and the crucial difference between conscious and unconscious sin, as well as the distinction between body and soul. An indispensable primer for any beginning scholar, Sin, Grace and Free Will presents the writings of Christian thinkers of the early church in context and examines the progress of church doctrine from the nascent model of sin in the Shepherd of Hermas to Origen's analysis of divine influence on human will and Augustine's seminal work on grace and salvation.

We all recognize that we are sinners. We constantly strive to do God's will, and when we fall short, we go to the confessional to experience God's healing mercy in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Yet for all too many of us, when our sins are washed away, the shame of sin may linger on our hearts and plague us even as we resolve anew to follow Christ. This shame is one of Satan's most insidious means of separating us from God's love and forgiveness. With gentleness and wisdom, Fr. Wade Menezes of the Fathers of Mercy shows you how to overcome your shame of sin and surrender to God's mercy. Far from ignoring the reality of sin, Fr. Menezes illustrates the consequences of evil and vice, while reminding you that however great your sin may be, God's goodness is greater. At every moment, He is calling you to Himself. He seeks your love and desires you, with all your sins and all your shame.
