Little Apple is a young apple filled with joy and love for his apple family. One day, he discovers his Grandma Apple is not doing so well. Join little apple as he learns important lessons about the cycle of life from the other apples in the apple tree. This story is for children ages 2-7 and encourages readers to discuss the topics of loss, grief, and healing. The stoic philosophers had a saying, 'momenti mori'. it means 'remember, you must die'. This endearing tale hopes to captivate the stoic idea that death is a natural part of life and not to be feared. Little Apple learns what Marcus Aurelius journaled so many years ago, "it is not death that a man should fear, but he should fear never beginning to live."

Under The Apple Tree is a compilation of memories that spans the lifetime of the author. Born in the late 50s, this Montana baby boomer experienced a simple life that entwined hard work and moral values, a time when there was an engrained sense of responsibility that bound folks together. Centered on family, recreation never strayed far from home or the Rocky Mountains. Honesty and integrity were qualities that were the norm in her small rural community. Folks said what they meant and meant what they said; a person was only as good as his or her word. Consumerism was not practiced, televisions were black and white and doctors still did house calls. Recycling and repurposing werent new concepts, they were commonplace. Manufactured goods were made to last and technology was dawdling. In 1969, as a result of a family dispute, her family pulled up roots and moved to the city. The transition from rural living to city dwelling was dissonant and the jump into the 21st century and adulthood wasnt perhaps the smoothest, but this author rose to the challenge, still maintaining those homegrown principles and simple views, in spite of the ebb and flow of everyday life.

As the 20th century dawns, the world is transformed in dizzying ways. But nestled in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains is a place, and a family, out of time—where one young girl will grow to face the challenges of each generation before her—and discover whether she has the strength to overcome them... The eldest surviving daughter of Anna Guinn, Rachel rarely ventures far from her home in the Appalachians, aside from an occasional trip into town to trade a penny for a peppermint stick. Sometimes she yearns for more, but as much as she fears her mother’s unstable mind, she is anchored by the strength of her grandmother, Willa. Freed from an abusive marriage, Willa holds the family together through hardship, all the while fulfilling her role as keeper of her neighbors’ carefully guarded secrets—the most painful of which may be her own. In this isolated, eccentric world where people depend on moonshine to put food on the table, hang talismans to chase away ghosts—and tragedy can strike as suddenly as a coiled copperhead—Rachel wonders what life has in store. Most of all, she worries whether she and her sister have inherited the darkness that lurks inside their mother. Her one respite is the town’s apple orchard, the ally she finds there—and the revelation that she can take her destiny into her own hands, decide what to leave behind—and what is truly worth carrying into the future...

This story is inspired by an Apple Tree, that stood in my grandparent's back yard for many years. It was under that Apple Tree, my family used to gather for happy events, such as birthdays and anniversaries, sad events such as when my Great Aunt Viola died of cancer and even Holidays. The tree meant a lot to my family. It was planted many years ago, when my grandparents bought their home on Tryam St, in Commack, New York.It withstood major hurricanes, winter storms, blizzards and bug evasions. When I was a little girl, I used to collect the apples that had fallen from the tree and pretend to sell them.My grandparents however used it for a different purpose, they used to share the apples with their friends and family and even the homeless when the tree was young and full of life. After my grandparents died, my grandfather first of cancer in 1995, then my grandmother of a heart attack in 2001, the apple tree to die with them, and then a miracle happened. After my grandma died, we moved into her home, the we are being, my parents (my father was my grandparent's son) my husband and myself. The tree did not produce fruit for many years. My parents said that the large rotted-out tree was to dangerous to keep in the center of our yard so close to our house, so they called a tree trimmer to cut-it-down. I was heartbroken because a lot was changing. We were getting ready to sell my grandparents house, my father's childhood home, a home that every single of my Dad's side of the family lived in at one point or another in the 55 years my grandparents owned the home.I didn't want to move, I didn't want my parents to sell the home, and I didn't want our beloved tree to be cut down. So, I secretly prayed to my grandparents for a sign that everything would be ok, and that the move to G.A. would go well for us.On the day the tree-trimmer came, he called my parents, my hubby and myself outside to show us a true miracle, despite the apple tree being dead for many years, a perfect single red shiny apple appeared on the tree. An apple that was not there the day before. We stood in awe. We didn't eat the apple, and we didn't cut down the tree. The tree remined there standing until we sold the house in 2004 and the new owner took over, cutting down the tree and apple with it. An apple that was a miracle. This book is about three fictional families, that come together to save one historic Apple Tree and a historic Cottage from an Evil Empire. The Billmore Family, a powerful, rich and evil empire are hell-bent on buying up most of the land in the small town of Walla Walla, Washington. When some of the land owners refuse to sell their land, accidents happen, and fear runs through the Town.Nick and His wife Kimmy, along with Kimmy's twin sister Regina and her husband Jose are on a mission to stop the Billmore family. When the two pervious owners of the Cottage, Blues and Harmony and their daughter Jazz, and Arnold and his family hear about what was happening, they travel to Walla Walla to see if they can help. The danger is real.
