This book examines the unintended consequences of top-down reforms in Iran, analysing how the Iranian reformist governments (1997–2005) sought to utilise gradual reforms to control independent activism, and how citizens responded to such a disciplinary action. The Green Movement of Iran in 2009 was a turning point in Middle East social movements. It was a non-violent movement which tried to resort to democratic ways to win. The detailed reasons of the Green movement failure has been taken into account at three level: Micro, Meso and Macro .And by using the political opportunities theory - internal factors, environmental and external effective factors in the failure of the Green Movement were also studied. I wrote this book as a Master thesis in May 2013 at Eastern Mediterranean University but I didn't defend it. Now I would like to publish it as it is.
