The Trifecta Passport Tools For Mast Cell Activation Syndrome Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome And Ehlers Danlos Syndrome written by Amber Walker and has been published by Amber Walker this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-01-27 with Body, Mind & Spirit categories.

The “trifecta” refers to three conditions that commonly occur together: mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) and the hypermobile type of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS). These three conditions are gradually becoming more recognized in the mainstream medical world as more and more patients find themselves struggling with debilitating and often mysterious symptoms. However, recognizing these conditions is only the first step on the healing journey. With the right approach and toolbox, patients can reverse many of these symptoms to find lasting vitality. Written by a Doctor of Physical Therapy who has additional certifications in functional medicine and nutrition and extensive experience in working with these conditions, this book serves as patient guide that empowers individuals to put all of the puzzle pieces together as part of an individualized healing plan. Part One (3 chapters) is an overview of the three trifecta conditions, and Part Two (9 chapters) outlines the important pillars of an essential plan to address any (or all) of these conditions holistically. The book wraps up with a chapter of patient case stories. Accompanying the purchase of this book is access to a free 20-page PDF document that serves as a customizable workbook for readers to use as they read along. The Trifecta Passport dives into topics such as nervous system regulation, mold and other biotoxins, nutrition, exercise, detoxification, mental/emotional health and trauma, structural/musculoskeletal issues and the many underlying root issues (related to hormones, bacterial/viral load, gut health, etc.) that can trigger or exacerbate these conditions. This resource unpacks many different tools and practical treatment options that should be on the radar of patients living with these (and other) chronic conditions. When faced with these labels, it can be overwhelming to weed through all the resources out there to figure out how to move forward with a comprehensive and personalized road map. By helping readers put it all together in an organized manner, this book is a great resource for any patient with chronic illness as well as the caregivers and doctors who support them.

Have you ever had a run-in with the health care system and ended up feeling powerless because you didn't know how to make wise health care choices? Were you ever so pissed off at your health insurer that your inner voice told you "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore"? Have you ever racked up huge medical bills? That's the health care trifecta-powerless, pissed off, and paying through the nose. This book is about how to win the health care trifecta-by making the health care system work for you. Let me illustrate how this can happen by telling you a story. One morning when I was in my mid-40s, I was driving to work at 70 mph in the high speed lane of a Southern California freeway, surrounded by dozens of cars barreling along at the same speed. I suddenly felt like there was an elephant sitting on my chest. I couldn't breathe. I started sweating. I thought, "It can't be a heart attack, I'm too young." I was terrified that I was going to lose consciousness. As I started to move across four freeway lanes to get to the shoulder, I was convinced that not only was I going to die, but I was likely to crash into and kill 12 other people as I lost consciousness. It turned out I wasn't having a heart attack; I was having a panic attack, something I had never heard of until then. I was insured with a health maintenance organization (HMO) at the time, so it took three weeks to get my primary care doctor to approve a referral to see a psychiatrist, which I knew I desperately needed (since my dad was a psychiatrist). I made an appointment to see a shrink that a friend recommended, but who was not part of my HMO, and paid for the visit out-of-pocket. My insurance company didn't want to reimburse me, so I had to fight with them so they would pay me back. And I won. That determination to make the health care system work for me, instead of against me, is a characteristic of the empowered patient. Now, more than ever, we all need to be informed, empowered health care consumers. You've already shown that you're on your way to being an empowered patient-you've picked up this book. I'm going to show you, step-by-step, how to make our broken health care system work for you, too. If your primary care physician dismisses your concerns and runs out the door almost as soon as she comes in; if your health insurance plan doesn't meet your needs; if your insurer has denied you care and you want to fight back-these are all indications that you need to learn your way around our broken health care system so you can get the health care you deserve. This book will show you how.

Your Patient Safety Survival Guide written by Gretchen LeFever Watson and has been published by Rowman & Littlefield this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-08-03 with Health & Fitness categories.

Each year, one out of every four hospital patients in the United States will be harmed by the care they receive. Over 400,000 will die as a result. Dr. Gretchen LeFever Watson's definitive guide empowers patients to be patient safety advocates. It takes a village to combat preventable errors and omissions that cause millions of deaths and sickness in our nation’s hospitals and care facilities. Although most of these deaths are due to human and system errors—not faulty medical decisions or diagnoses—this annual death toll—as well as the millions of additional incidents of survivable patient harm—could be cut in half through consistent use of simple and nearly cost-free safety behaviors. In Your Patient Safety Survival Guide, Gretchen LeFever Watson delivers a patient-centered blueprint on how to transform the patient-safety movement so that millions of unnecessary illnesses and deaths in hospitals, outpatient facilities, and nursing homes can be avoided. She provides key safety habits that people must learn to recognize so they can be sure hospital personnel use them during every patient encounter. She also explains how addressing the most common safety problems will set the stage for tackling a wide range of issues, including healthcare’s role in the overuse of opiate painkillers and its related heroin epidemic. Watson’s call for a more sensible societal response to medical and human error in hospitals promotes a timely and full disclosure of all mistakes—an approach that has been proven to accelerate the emotional recovery of everyone affected by patient safety events while also reducing the financial burden on hospitals, providers, and patients. Readers will learn how to: • Change behavior to catch medical errors before they result in illness or death. • Prevent the spread of dangerous infections in hospitals and other care facilities. • Leverage the power of basic safety/hygiene habits. • Eliminate mistakes during surgery and other invasive procedures. • Avoid medication errors and the overuse of opiates • Raise awareness and inspire civic action in their communities.

Handbook Of Service Science Volume Ii written by Paul P. Maglio and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-10-16 with Business & Economics categories.

The second volume of this successful handbook represents varied perspectives on the fast-expanding field of Service Science. The novel work collected in these chapters is drawn from both new researchers who have grown-up with Service Science, as well as established researchers who are adapting their frames for the modern service context. The first Handbook of Service Science marked the emergence of Service Science when disciplinary studies of business-to-customer service systems intertwined to meet the needs of a new era of business-to-business and global service ecosystems. Today, the evolving discipline of Service Science involves advanced technologies, such as smartphones, cloud, social platforms, big data analytics, and artificial intelligence. These technologies are reshaping the service landscape, transforming both business models and public policy, ranging from retail and hospitality to transportation and communications. By looking through the eyes of today’s new Service Scientists, it is anticipated that value and grand challenges will emerge from the integration of theories, methods, and techniques brought together in the first volume, but which are now rooted more deeply in service-dominant logic and systems thinking in this second volume. The handbook is divided into four parts: 1) Service Experience--On the Human-centered Nature of Service; 2) Service Systems–On the Nature of Service Interactions; 3) Service Ecosystems–On the Broad Context of Service; 4) Challenges–On Rethinking the Theory and Foundations of Service Science. The chapters add clarity on how to identify, enable, and measure service, thus allowing for new ideas and connections made to physics, design, computer science, and data science and analytics for advancing service innovation and the welfare of society. Handbook of Service Science, Volume II offers a thorough reference suitable for a wide-reaching audience including researchers, practitioners, managers, and students who aspire to learn about or to create a deeper scientific foundation for service design and engineering, service experience and marketing, and service management and innovation.
