How each of us can become a therapeutic presence in the world. Images and sounds of war, natural disasters, and human-made devastation explicitly surround us and implicitly leave their imprint in our muscles, our belly and heart, our nervous systems, and the brains in our skulls. We each experience more digital data than we are capable of processing in a day, and this is leading to a loss of empathy and human contact. This loss of leisurely, sustained, face-to-face connection is making true presence a rare experience for many of us, and is neurally ingraining fast pace and split attention as the norm. Yet despite all of this, the ability to offer the safe sanctuary of presence is central to effective clinical treatment of trauma and indeed to all of therapeutic practice. It is our challenge to remain present within our culture, Badenoch argues, no matter how difficult this might be. She makes the case that we are built to seek out, enter, and sustain warm relationships, all this connection will allow us to support the emergence of a humane world. In this book, Bonnie Badenoch, a gifted translator of neuroscientific concepts into human terms, offers readers brain- and body-based insights into how we can form deep relational encounters with our clients and our selves and how relational neuroscience can teach us about the astonishing ways we are interwoven with one another. How we walk about in our daily lives will touch everyone, often below the level of conscious awareness. The first part of The Heart of Trauma provides readers with an extended understanding of the ways in which our physical bodies are implicated in our conscious and non-conscious experience. Badenoch then delves even deeper into the clinical implications of moving through the world. She presents a strong, scientifically grounded case for doing the work of opening to hemispheric balance and relational deepening.

"This book pioneers the integration of EMDR with ego state techniques. and opens new and exciting vistas for the practitioners of each." --From the foreword by John G. Watkins, PhD, founder of ego state therapy "This read truly does have something for everyone who works with trauma and dissociative processes." --American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis "The editors have gathered many experts in the field who explain in clear informative ways how to expand the clinician's abilities to work with this terribly injured population. This book blends concepts from neurobiology, hypnosis, family systems theory and cognitive therapy to enhance treating this population. It is a well written book that the novice as well as the seasoned clinician can benefit from." --Mark Dworkin, author of EMDR and the Relational Imperative "[This book] conveys complex concepts that will be of interest to seasoned therapists... with a clarity that will appeal to the novice as well. This is really a wonderful text with many excellent ideas and I highly recommend it to anyone who treats trauma." --Sarah Chana Radcliffe, M.Ed.,C.Psych.Assoc. Author, Raise Your Kids without Raising Your Voice "I believe that this book is a significant contribution to the fields of psychology and EMDR. It is the first of its kind... anyone who reads this will gain greater confidence in using EMDR and ego state therapy witih highly dissociative and complicated clients." --Sara G. Gilman, in Journal of EMDR Practice and Research, Volume 3, 2009 "This is a book about polypsychism and trauma. It offers a number of creative syntheses of EMDR with several models of polypsychism. It also surveys and includes many other models of contemporary trauma theory and treatment techniques. The reader will appreciate its enrichment with case examples and very generous bibliographic material. If you are a therapist who works with patients who have been traumatized, you will want this book in your library." --Claire Frederick, MD, Distinguished Consulting Faculty, Saybrook Graduate School and Research Center "Training in EMDR seems to have spread rapidly among therapists in recent years. In the process, awareness is growing that basic EMDR training may not be adequate to prepare clinicians to effectively treat the many cases of complex trauma and dissociation that are likely to be encountered in general practice. By integrating it with ego state therapy, this book may just serve as a crucial turning point in the development of EMDR by providing a model for productively applying it to the treatment of this important and sizeable clinical population." --Steven N. Gold, PhD, President Elect, APA Division of Trauma The powerful benefits of EMDR in treating PTSD have been solidly validated. In this groundbreaking new work nine master clinicians show how complex PTSD involving dissociation and other challenging diagnoses can be treated safely and effectively. They stress the careful preparation of clients for EMDR and the inclusion of ego state therapy to target the dissociated ego states that arise in response to severe and prolonged trauma.

She's seen slave dungeons in Ghana. Genocide in Rwanda. Systemic sexual abuse in Brazil. Child abuse and domestic violence in the US. After forty years of counseling abuse survivors around the world, Dr. Diane Langberg, a world renowned trauma expert, remains certain that what trauma destroys, Christ can and does restore. This book will convince you, too, of the healing heart of God. But it's not a fast process, instead much patience is required from family, friends, and counselors as they wisely and respectfully help victims unpack their traumatic suffering through talking, tears, and time. And it's not a process that can be separated from the work of God in both a counselor and counselee. Dr. Langberg calls all of those who wish to help sufferers to model Jesus's sacrificial love and care in how they listen, love, and guide. The heart of God is revealed to sufferers as they grow to understand the cross of Christ and how their God came to this earth and experienced such severe suffering that he too is "well-acquainted with grief." The cross of Christ is the lens that transforms and redeems traumatic suffering and its aftermath, not only for the sufferer, but it also transforms those who walk with the suffering. This book will be a great help to anyone who loves, listens to, and seeks to help someone impacted by trauma and abuse. There is no quick fix, but there is the hope for healing through the love of God in Christ.

Theories of human mental abilities should be consistent with what is known in neuroscience. Currently, tests of human mental abilities are modeled by cognitive constructs such as attention, working memory, and speed of information processing. These constructs are in turn related to a single general ability. However, brains are very complex systems and whether most of the variability between the operations of different brains can be ascribed to a single factor is questionable. How you can learn more about and be a part of neuroscience including: Basic knowledge about your brain A guide to the field of neuroscience Discoveries of the past, present, and predictions of future possibilities Controversy within the field How technology has changed the ways brains are studied The impact discoveries and findings have on you How you can change and influence neuroscience I will strip away the inherent complexity of the science and steer you to insights that will enrich your relationships, improve your wellbeing, and increase your productivity. Brainsights is a thinking person's self-help book. It is for those that can't wait to dig into the science, knowing what awaits them is the wisdom to make a difference in their own lives and those of others.

The Love Trauma Syndrome written by Richard B. Rosse and has been published by Da Capo Lifelong Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-10-12 with Self-Help categories.

Love is one of the most exhilarating emotions we experience--unfortunately, it is also one of the most painful and sometimes traumatic. The unresolved emotional scars from a broken heart can manifest as a "love trauma syndrome." Until now, a love trauma was thought to precipitate other common psychiatric conditions, such as depression or adjustment disorders, but these generic psychiatric ailments are not adequate for articulating the full and unique character of the condition following love trauma. The Love Trauma Syndrome: Free Yourself from the Pain of a Broken Heart fills the need of patients feeling isolated, ashamed, or alone in their anguish. Dr. Richard Rosse, a psychiatrist with expertise in the area of emotional breakdown, provides a concrete path to help people understand this condition. At times, the syndrome can seriously diminish the sufferer's quality of life, and dramatically impair social, academic, and occupational activities. Dr. Rosse warns that there can also be bouts of severe manifestations, things go horribly wrong. Patients may end up committing suicide. A few become so obsessed by their lost loves that they are driven to stalk, attack, or murder these persons and then ultimately commit suicide. However, most patients suffer alone and in silence without ever resorting to an act of physical violence.Dr. Rosse clearly explains that Love Trauma Syndrome is a clinical disorder of "too much memory" in which the past intrudes upon the present to influence thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to a much greater extent than is expected. It can also be associated with a variety of other behavioral problems: the avoidance of future loving relationships, nervousness, feeling "unreal" or out of place, anger, and sleep disturbances. The book will educate mental health clinicians on how to recognize and treat people with the syndrome, and Dr. Rosse discusses a variety of psychotherapeutic and pharmacological treatment options and their rationale. The Love Trauma Syndrome is the first book to describe the condition and to present a full array of self-help strategies and specific techniques tailored to help those suffering from a love trauma. Designed for both lay and professional audiences, it is the ideal resource for anyone--male or female, young or old, gay or straight--hurt by love to understand what to do to escape the bleak prison of misery.

This book will be of interest to those who work with trauma, who have an interest in understanding new ways of looking at the role of trauma in our lives and finding resolutions to trauma. Vivian Broughton follows the theoretical and practical work of Professor Franz Ruppert, the German psychologist who has devoted his work to understanding the dynamics of trauma. The book sets out a history of trauma study, Ruppert's theories and developments that include early attachment trauma and the transgenerational impact of historical family traumas, and the methodology of the Constellation of the Intention as the means to find resolution from trauma. Vivian brings her own perspective to Ruppert's work including extensive thoughts from a psychotherapeutic perspective. However the book is not overly academic and aims to inform anyone, professional therapist or not, on the general topic of the impact of trauma on the individual and society.

Angela is a well-established health professional who has dedicated her professional life working on releasing trauma in a natural, nurturing way, returning her clients to their natural state of wholeness. She calls it 'The Journey Home'. She states we came on to the earth a perfect being knowing that whatever we wanted we could have. Throughout this highly insightful concise book, she informs you, the reader, how you took on your story, trauma, and life events that impact how you see yourself today. With a background in psychology and neurobiology, she states the average person 95% of the day has a thought going on, which means, 95% of the behavior during that day, is programmed and managed by the subconscious. When you understand your life is not controlled by the conscious mind, which is wishes and desires. It is controlled by the subconscious which has been programmed by observing other people, you then get to see how your life becomes an expression of their behavior. The programming of your subconscious started in the last trimester of pregnancy and was intense from zero to, one, two, three, four, five, six, and by seven the programming is less. So, the first seven years of your life are programmed. Angela informs you how this happens in the book. You may ask "how do I know what my programs are"?Read the book, you will find out and be able to release them, quite simply and quickly engaging in The Advancing Heart Protocol(TM) a method that connects with the wisdom of the heart and the energy of the unified field to release emotional patterns, loops, memories, thoughts, beliefs, and triggers that hold you back from expanding your business, your life, your relationships, and your health.
