The Hidden Authorship Of S Ren Kierkegaard written by Jacob Sawyer and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-09-18 with Religion categories.
In this book, Jacob H. Sawyer explores the concept of hiddenness as a means to unlock the intriguing, and oft misunderstood, authorship of Soren Kierkegaard. By understanding the melancholy man as first and foremost a Christian thinker, this work gives special attention to how the form of Kierkegaard's authorial task complements its content, giving particular attention to his use of pseudonyms. The first part of the book addresses the explicit content of the authorship, the second addresses the implicit form in which it was communicated to Kierkegaard's reader, and the third addresses how these can help us understand Kierkegaard's own "hidden inwardness." Through this investigation, Soren Kierkegaard is recognized as an example par excellence of a communicator. He is seen to have attempted to only speak what his own life could uphold, striving to be one who was in Christ the truth.

This volume is a continuation of our series exploring Saint Augustine’s influence on later thought, this time bringing the fifth century bishop into dialogue with 19th century philosopher, theologian, social critic, and originator of Existentialism, Soren Kierkegaard. The connections, contrasts, and sometimes surprising similarities of their thought are uncovered and analyzed in topics such as exile and pilgrimage, time and restlessness, inwardness and the church, as well as suffering, evil, and humility. The implications of this analysis are profound and far-reaching for theology, ecclesiology, and ethics.

Kierkegaard And The Self Before God written by Simon D. Podmore and has been published by Indiana University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-02 with Philosophy categories.
Simon D. Podmore claims that becoming a self before God is both a divine gift and an anxious obligation. Before we can know God, or ourselves, we must come to a moment of recognition. How this comes to be, as well as the terms of such acknowledgment, are worked out in Podmore's powerful new reading of Kierkegaard. As he gives full consideration to Kierkegaard's writings, Podmore explores themes such as despair, anxiety, melancholy, and spiritual trial, and how they are broken by the triumph of faith, forgiveness, and the love of God. He confronts the abyss between the self and the divine in order to understand how we can come to know ourselves in relation to a God who is apparently so wholly Other.

The Paradoxical Rationality Of S Ren Kierkegaard written by Richard McCombs and has been published by Indiana University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-03-04 with Religion categories.
Richard McCombs presents Søren Kierkegaard as an author who deliberately pretended to be irrational in many of his pseudonymous writings in order to provoke his readers to discover the hidden and paradoxical rationality of faith. Focusing on pseudonymous works by Johannes Climacus, McCombs interprets Kierkegaardian rationality as a striving to become a self consistently unified in all its dimensions: thinking, feeling, willing, acting, and communicating. McCombs argues that Kierkegaard's strategy of feigning irrationality is sometimes brilliantly instructive, but also partly misguided. This fresh reading of Kierkegaard addresses an essential problem in the philosophy of religion—the relation between faith and reason.

This bibliography on Sren Kierkegaard carries on the work of Jens Himmelstrup's international bibliography (1962). It collates everything written about Kierkegaard - books, contributions to edited collections, and journals - and also features an appendix of primary text editions and translations. Discussion notes, reviews, etc., are catalogued according to the items they refer to. The bibliography contains more than 5,600 primary entries and is a testament to the expanding worldwide interest in the Danish philosopher. It also remedies the deeply-felt need for a collected overview of the extensive literature on Kierkegaard.

Kierkegaard S Incarnational Mission written by Michio Ogino and has been published by Langham Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-06-30 with Religion categories.
One lacuna in Søren Kierkegaard scholarship is in analyzing his works with his self-described identity as a “missionary to Christendom” in mind. Challenging the international connotation of the term “missionary,” Dr. Michio Ogino examines Kierkegaard’s works in which he identified himself as a missionary writer, to reveal how he considered being a missionary an integral part of being a Christian. By chronologically and empirically examining the writings of Søren Kierkegaard, Dr. Ogino argues that Kierkegaard not only proclaimed Jesus Christ in his homeland but did so in a manner similar to how Christ had done on earth, incarnating the Christian message for his contemporaries. Through this provocative exploration, Ogino lays out how the application of Kierkegaardian mission can help to overcome five recognized barriers in Japanese evangelization. Kierkegaard scholars and readers will find a new understanding of the motivations and reasoning behind his works, and missionaries, not only to Japan but all nations, will be encouraged in how his approach can be applied in their context.

Kierkegaard S Pseudonymous Authorship written by Mark C. Taylor and has been published by Princeton University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-04-23 with Philosophy categories.
This book deals with a central problem in the writings of Soren Kierkegaard, the themes of time and the self as developed in the pseudonymous writings. Arguing that a most effective way to grasp the unity of Kierkegaard's dialectic of the stages of existence is to focus on the dramatic presentation of time and the self that appears at each stage, Mark C. Taylor pursues these themes from the viewpoints of theology, philosophy, psychology, and related areas of study. The author works from the original texts and makes much use of untranslated primary and secondary material. His concluding evaluation offerse a critical perspective from which to view Kierkegaard's interpretation of time and selfhood and indicates the importance of Kierkegaard's work for our time. Mark C. Taylor teaches religion at Williams College. Originally published in 1975. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press.
