The gripping third volume of the sweeping Oneiro tetralogy. An audacious contingent desperately casts off the miraculous island of Oneiro in the midst of Earth's agonizing worldwide death throes. They set themselves on a bold course for a star seven light years distant, confronting an interstellar voyage approaching decades. Their destination: Kosmas Kentrikos. An incredible planet, home to millions of years of immeasurably advanced study and the titular center of the galaxy. Their vessel: Gauntlet. An interstellar world-ship. The most astonishing space vehicle ever navigated by man. Their Captain: Philip Carr, a human unique to planet Earth, soon to be unique to the galaxy and perhaps all the cosmos themselves. The Kosmains: Tens of millions of advanced beings from throughout the galaxy united by a common calling and all united by a vital interest in Captain Philip Carr. Their prodigious journey enjoys an idyllic beginning. Life is nearly luxurious aboard Gauntlet permitting its crew to develop and create exceptional diversity. Captain Carr is then absented by a mandatory two year geriatric sleep. Upon returning he discovers a disturbing new Gauntlet under his command. Dark changes were wrought throughout the world-ship, some threatening to the success of their mission and the very survival of the few remaining vestiges of mankind. With supreme urgency Phil is called to draw upon his gifts, risking his life to actualize his inherent ordination to evolve into Verteror ... one of the very few of such among the untold trillions of sapient life forms that pass through this universe. Humans were far from the sole envoys within Gauntlet's crew and compliment. A contingent of life forms, known and unbeknownst to Carr pervades Gauntlet at many levels. The Captain commanded the quintessential motley crew, as each entity pursued its own machinations, while Phil's command grew daily more threatening and labyrinthine. Oneiro leads the reader from the beautiful shores of a halcyon Aegean island, under the sea to the interior of an extinct volcano, through deep space to the limits of the galaxy and the veritable edge of space-time itself.

"Dystopian Decibels: The Illusion of Urban Utopia and the Peculiar Allure of Chaos" invites readers into a thought-provoking exploration of a world where the urban landscape teeters on the brink of dystopia. This gripping narrative serves as a cautionary tale, unraveling the seemingly enchanting façade of a metropolis to expose the discordant symphony that echoes within its walls. The book delves into the heart of a society that has succumbed to the allure of chaos, where the relentless cacophony of urban life masks the underlying disquiet. As the narrative unfolds, the illusion of an idealized urban existence is peeled away, revealing the underbelly of societal discord. The city, once envisioned as a haven of progress and prosperity, becomes a battleground for the clash of ideologies, the struggle for power, and the inherent chaos that arises from the pursuit of unchecked desires. The metaphorical "decibels" symbolize not just the literal noise but also the societal uproar, the political discord, and the psychological tumult that characterizes this disconcerting world. The book prompts readers to question their own perceptions of urbanity, inviting reflection on the trade-offs between progress and the potential pitfalls of unchecked ambition. "Dystopian Decibels" is not merely a work of fiction; it serves as a mirror to contemporary society, urging readers to scrutinise the choices and compromises made in the pursuit of an idealised urban utopia. Through its pages, readers embark on a journey that challenges assumptions, navigates the complexities of societal structures, and forces a reconsideration of the boundaries between order and chaos. Intricately woven and richly detailed, "Dystopian Decibels" stands as a cautionary tale that reverberates with relevance, encouraging readers to question the true cost of an urban utopia built on the peculiar allure of chaos

I firmly declare that I am not an Atheist but an advocate of Advaita i.e., world is one, and all of us are one. Atheists also call the world as an illusion, but as an Advaitist I do believe that all of us are God just veiled by senses. As German Mystic, Meister Eckhart says: “The eye in which I see God is the same eye in which God sees me.” Atheist denies the existence of God which could lead to immorality in our life though under illusion. I do believe in contacting various levels of energies available in the cosmos as per Vedic Shastras for various types and levels of happiness to live a good life, though, it is illusion. The cosmos to me is an illusory field. Beyond the concept of Cosmos lies the web-wave field which is discussed extensively in this book. Atheist defines the final power as infinite which has no motive and thereby does not grant human wishes, whereas I do believe in the infinite atman called as Paramaatma which absorbs us in its web-wave field of pure bliss and never again to give us the illusion of birth death cycles. If one merges with it he escapes the illusion of birth and death. To the question of existence of God, I had explained in this book that during the cycles of birth and death through the illusory field there are various degrees and levels of cosmic power which does helps to mitigate the illusory effects and come out of the illusory field to merge with Paramaatma. I do make a distinction between consciousness and illusion. Both are same but marginally different. In consciousness one has the awareness whether inside or outside the body. Consciousness permits to have awareness outside the body. It could have a motive. But illusion exists inside a body and not necessarily outside the body. Illusion is a particle that pertains to the matter and its awareness is inside a body only. But consciousness is not. Consciousness exists outside the body too but inside the illusory field. Outside the body there is no illusion. Illusion gets dissipated when the body no longer exists totally with its senses. All senses pertain to illusion. All our scope, our sciences and philosophy, particularly life, death, rebirth, beliefs pertains to the body which gets the illusion, because the body is matter. Vedas and Adi Shankar Acharya call illusion as Maya, and consciousness as Prajnaa. The illusion has to be perfect for all of us during the illusory life, giving us the utmost happiness in all walks of this life. Everything to us happens only in illusion and so we must evoke the divine power to be happy in this illusion in the short life and thereafter free us from this illusory world. On this score the invocation of divine or cosmic energies are absolutely a must. Though it is easier to talk about illusion in theory, in practical life it is not easy either. Everyone has their daily routine to follow, like attending their work, begetting children, raising children, getting them married, owning property, engagement in business or agriculture or profession and so on. No one can quit these and gloat on illusion. Except for a very few no one would sacrifice anything or give up their rights, based on a concept called illusion or the illusory field. They feel real during their sojourn in this worldly life and they would like to feed their senses with pleasures. One would not gift his house to charity because of the fact that everything is illusion, as they find these philosophical talks are not practically appealing. They feel they are living a real life. A life in which they own and have to own properties, joy, children, education, as if they are going to live for long. The idea to write this book came to me as I went through Vedic / Upanishad teachings. Whether the world we live is real? Or illusory? Therefore, the main idea of this book is to make an honest attempt to investigate who is behind our lives, and if so, why is he required to play the drama of creating us, and what he wants to achieve through our creation. More fully what is that cosmic code that is behind creation? Physics describes it as fermions and bosons. But it is more than that. It is illusion. Fermions and Bosons themselves come from illusion. Particularly illusion of existence. Everything we feel, see, hear, touch, and smell is illusion. This illusion defines an impartial God or infinities. The illusion can alone define an impartial God. Many religions have come out with answers recently during the last 2200 years or so, but I find the Upanishads and other spiritual texts and teachers in India offer answers to this question conforming to modern physics and experiments. This is what this book is all about. An inquiry into secret of Human life. Most of the religious texts describe God in human form. The prophets or teachers are described as an incarnation or children of God or to whom God revealed himself in a place, at a time and handed over the words of wisdom. The main purpose of all religious texts is to tell humanity that there is a super power who is watching us and he would guide us to heaven where he lives, if we live our human lives conforming to the teachings laid down by his messengers or prophets. If such conformity is not accepted, then we would be doomed to hell. Or in other terms there would be no salvation for such person. The biggest irony is God also permits them to kill persons who do not follow such religious teachings. God treats them as enemies. The enemies of God must be killed. The tribes who are enemies of God can be killed. Well this is the irony. When God must be all LOVE, one fails to understand that such God asks for killing, when he can kill them himself. Why seek the help of other humans to kill fellow humans when he can himself do the killing? And again, why should he kill after creation. If so, why create at all! Why create such evil persons at all in this earth, who steal, or cheat or commit adultery, or who murder others? What is the purpose of such creation and evaluation? What is the purpose of God having such a character? Persons who are responsible in writing these texts know very well that unless you use the name of God no one is going to believe their own writings. Every piece of their own advice has to be stated as if they come from the mouth of God himself for mankind to believe. Their own opinions are stated as if they originated from God. Therefore, God is a convenient tool. This book goes into the semantics of the main topic that Cosmic code is illusion and I have used scientific, philosophical, mathematical, and Vedic teachings, to prove clearly my conviction, that the world we live is only illusion. It is not for the sake of writing a book I have written but it is out of my own strong feeling that the Universe has to be illusory to have an Impartial God. I trust the readers will find it interesting and get convinced.

Telling The Truth written by Barbara C. Foley and has been published by Cornell University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-03-15 with Literary Criticism categories.

Barbara Foley here focuses on the relatively neglected genre of documentary fiction: novels that are continually near the borderline between factual and fictive discourse. She links the development of the genre over three centuries to the evolution of capitalism, but her analyses of literary texts depart significantly from those of most current Marxist critics. Foley maintains that Marxist theory has yet to produce a satisfactory theory of mimesis or of the development of genres, and she addresses such key issues as the problem of reference and the nature of generic distinctions. Among the authors whom Foley treats are Defoe, Scott, George Eliot, Joyce, Isherwood, Dos Passos, William Wells Brown, Ishmael Reed, and Ernest Gaines.

No one knows where it came from. Or why, for that matter. Maybe the Stronghold has always been there. Silent. Foreboding. Expectant. Generations came and went. Wars raged. Kingdoms rose and fell. But the Stronghold stood and observed the history as it was written before it in blood, fire, and tears. Not a single soul has ever made it inside the Stronghold. But some sure tried... A parable of despotism and religious oppression, "Stronghold" was banned in its country of origin. It took Kesha Bakunin years to rewrite the book in English. With censorship on the rise in many parts of the world, it might be the last chance for him to share this cautionary tale about the most insidious kind of tyranny-one which is welcomed by its subjects as virtuous. The secret of the Stronghold awaits its claimant. The question is who will have the courage to peek inside. *** > "A powerful statement that lingers in the mind long after its initial reading, demanding multiple rereads to reveal all the gems layered within its complex tale. Readers of political parables and fiction that hold familiar settings and thought-provoking insights into the origins of repression and tyranny will find Stronghold a frightening read." - D. Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Review > "An epic and bold story of power and justice." - Joseph Haeger, Independent Book Review > "A sincere, urgent, and deeply personal plea to all its readers to remember that every society is just a step away from a tyranny." - Chris Vittriano, Vittriano Book Review > "Defied all my expectations [...] Extremely well written." - Ashley Mongrain, Cabinet of Curiosities > "Compelling, challenging, and utterly fascinating work [...] Skillfully juggling a seemingly impossible plethora of various timelines, settings, and characters, Bakunin builds to a thrilling series of revelations that keep readers turning pages nonstop [...] This is a winner." - The Prairies Book Review

This book comprehensively assesses the growing importance of project data for project scheduling, risk analysis and control. It discusses the relevance of project data for both researchers and professionals, and illustrates why the collection, processing and use of such data is not as straightforward as most people think. The theme of this book is known in the literature as data-driven project management and includes the discussion of using computer algorithms, human intuition, and project data for managing projects under risk. The book reviews the basic components of data-driven project management by summarizing the current state-of-the-art methodologies, including the latest computer and machine learning algorithms and statistical methodologies, for project risk and control. It highlights the importance of artificial project data for academics, and describes the specific requirements such data must meet. In turn, the book discusses a wide variety of statistical methods available to generate these artificial data and shows how they have helped researchers to develop algorithms and tools to improve decision-making in project management. Moreover, it examines the relevance of project data from a professional standpoint and describes how professionals should collect empirical project data for better decision-making. Finally, the book introduces a new approach to data collection, generation, and analysis for creating project databases, making it relevant for academic researchers and professional project managers alike.
