"Read this book and learn how best to protect our democracy." --Tom Steyer, founder of Need To Impeach The reasons Donald Trump must be impeached — as per the Founding Fathers — and what you can do to help make that happen Three veteran constitutional attorneys say there’s no way around it: The Constitution demands that Donald Trump must be impeached. And in clear language using compelling logic rooted firmly in the Constitution, they detail why the time to start is now—not in the indefinite future after criminal investigations have ended. In fact, much of Trump’s impeachable conduct lies outside the scope of ongoing federal criminal investigations. Citing charges such as accepting illegal payments from foreign governments, using government agencies to persecute political enemies, obstructing justice, abusing the pardon power, and the undermining freedom of the press, they provide the factual and legal basis for eight articles of impeachment. In short, they argue, abuses threatening our constitutional democracy should be dealt with by the remedy that the Constitution provides for a lawless, authoritarian president: impeachment. And an informed citizenry should be part of the process. After all, they say, impeachment is not a constitutional crisis — impeachment is the cure for a constitutional crisis.

Ten million people have signed a petition demanding the impeachment of Donald Trump. Googling the term 'impeach Trump' yields 95 million hits. A new Member of Congress, on the day that she was sworn into office, said: "Impeach the m*th*rf*ck*r!" "HIGH CRIMES" explains why. Here is a uniquely engaging 'take' on a political movement constantly in the news: SPECIFICS - Here, at last, is a comprehensive compendium of Donald Trump's high crimes and misdemeanors: not only the collusion and obstruction of justice addressed in the Mueller Report, but also Trump's impeachable divided loyalties, corruption, conflicts of interest, emoluments violations, pervasive obstruction of justice, habitual abuse of power, campaign misconduct, sexual misconduct, tax evasion, and incessant conduct unbecoming a President. In fact, it's hard to identify an impeachable offense that Donald Trump hasn't committed. HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE - Read about not only the 'high crimes and misdemeanors' of Donald Trump, but also those of 35 other officials who have faced impeachment (including Presidents Nixon, Clinton and Andrew Johnson). Here is much-needed historical context on the subject of impeaching Donald Trump: Trump is measured against the worst scoundrels of American political history, and he comes out worse than them. In fact, Trump's high crimes and misdemeanors make them look like amateurs by comparison. COMPREHENSIVE RESEARCH - No, you don't have to read them, but there are almost 500 endnotes here. (In the end, of course.) Trump's own high crimes and misdemeanors are cited directly to news reports, the Mueller Report, etc. The impeachment stories of other corrupt officials go all the way back to primary sources, like the Congressional Record, House Reports, Cannon and Hinds House Precedents, etc. - often, in their own words, and the words of the Congressmen and Senators who passed judgment on them. SOPHISTICATED ANALYSIS - Author Alan Grayson served in Congress, and he voted on two impeachments. That helps to bring the impeachment process to life.

With a foreword by New York Times bestselling author and former confidante of Donald J. Trump, Michael Cohen, the official report of materials supporting the first-ever second impeachment of a President of the United States—complete with US Constitution included. In 2019, Donald Trump became only the third US President to be impeached by the House of Representatives on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of congress. In January 2021, he became the first President in American history to be impeached for a second time. Though no sitting president was ever convicted, will Trump be the first there, too? Still in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, which the president has also been accused of handling poorly, and an ongoing refusal to concede his loss to rival candidate Joe Biden, Donald Trump is said to have provoked his followers to storm the US Capitol in Washington, DC, resulting in a shocking protest-turned-violent in an effort to stop the official Electoral count in certifying Biden's victory. The unprecedented event led to the deaths of at least five people, as well as the President being banned from all major social media, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and more, due to risk of inciting more violence. This groundbreaking report—released by the House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Jerrold Nadler—covers Trump's conduct leading up to January 6, 2021, the attack on the capitol, his response to the insurrection, and provides a compelling argument as to why there is an immediate need to consider impeachment despite Trump having only seven days left in office.

Trump On Trial written by Kevin Sullivan and has been published by Scribner this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-08-25 with Political Science categories.

A compelling and masterful account, based on fresh reporting, of the investigation, impeachment, and acquittal of President Donald Trump, a ferocious political drama that challenged American democracy itself. In the spring of 2019, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi did not favor pursuing Trump’s impeachment. Her view was: “He’s just not worth it.” But by September, after a whistleblower complaint suggesting that Trump had used his office for his political benefit, Pelosi decided to risk it. The impeachment inquiry led to charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, a gamble that ultimately meant Trump would be the first impeached president on the ballot in US history. Pulitzer Prize–winning Washington Post reporters Kevin Sullivan and Mary Jordan have crafted a powerful, intimate narrative that concentrates on the characters as well as the dramatic events, braiding them together to provide a remarkable understanding of what happened and why. Drawing on the deep reporting of Post journalists as well as new interviews, Sullivan and Jordan deliver a crisp page-turner with exquisite detail and scenes. They put readers in the room for both sides of the now-famous phone call between Trump and Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky on July 25, 2019, revealing the in-the-moment reactions of those listening to the call in Washington, as well as the tension in Kyiv, as aides passed notes to Zelensky while he was talking to Trump. Sullivan and Jordan deftly illuminate the aims and calculations of key figures. Pelosi’s evolution from no to yes. Trump’s mounting fury as “the I-word” became inevitable. Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell firmly telling Trump on the phone about the Senate trial: You need to trust me. Trump on Trial teems with unexpected moments. House member Elissa Slotkin, a Michigan Democrat, alone at the National Archives, walking amid the nation’s founding documents, weighing her vote on impeachment. Fiery Republican congressman Matt Gaetz of Florida, a favorite Trump warrior, deciding to lead the storming of the secure room in the US Capitol basement, where witnesses were testifying. The authors paint vivid portraits of the men and women branded by the president’s supporters as foes from the “deep state”: Ukraine experts Fiona Hill and Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman; ambassadors Marie Yovanovitch and William Taylor. The narrative spools out amid Trump’s nonstop tweeting and the infinite echo chamber of social media, which amplified both parties’ messages in ways unknown during past impeachments. Sullivan and Jordan, aided by editor Steve Luxenberg, follow the story into the aftermath of Trump’s acquittal and the president’s payback for those whom he believed had betrayed him. The retributions took place as the nation reeled from a devastating pandemic and widespread protests about racial injustice, with another trial looming: the 2020 election.

The official report from the House Intelligence Committee on Donald Trump’s secret pressure campaign against Ukraine, featuring an exclusive introduction by Pulitzer Prize–winning author and biographer Jon Meacham For only the fourth time in American history, the House of Representatives has conducted an impeachment inquiry into a sitting United States president. This landmark document details the findings of the House Intelligence Committee’s historic investigation of whether President Donald J. Trump committed impeachable offenses when he sought to have Ukraine announce investigations of former vice president Joe Biden and his son Hunter. Penetrating a dense web of connected activity by the president, his ambassador Gordon Sondland, his personal attorney Rudolph Giuliani, and many others, these pages offer a damning, blow-by-blow account of the president’s attempts to “use the powers of his office to solicit foreign interference on his behalf in the 2020 election” and his subsequent attempts to obstruct the House investigation into his actions. Published here with an introduction offering critical context from bestselling presidential historian Jon Meacham, The Impeachment Report is necessary reading for every American concerned about the fate of our democracy.

The Politics Of Presidential Impeachment written by Daniel P. Franklin and has been published by State University of New York Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-08-01 with Political Science categories.

The Politics of Presidential Impeachment takes a distinctive and fresh look at the impeachment provision of the US Constitution. Instead of studying it from a legal-constitutional perspective, the authors use a social science approach incorporating extensive case studies and quantitative analysis. Focusing on four presidents who faced impeachment processes—Andrew Johnson, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and Bill Clinton—they examine the conditions under which presidential impeachment is likely to occur and argue that partisanship and the evolving relationship between Congress and the president determine its effectiveness as an institutional constraint. They find that, in our contemporary political context, the propensity of Congress to utilize the impeachment tool is more likely, but given the state of heightened partisanship, impeachment is less likely to result in removal of a president. The authors conclude that impeachment is no longer a credible threat and thus no longer an effective tool in the arsenal of checks and balances. The book also offers a postscript that discusses the impeachment of President Donald J. Trump.
