Review: "In this work, R. Bruce Hull argues that environmentalism will never achieve its goals unless it sheds its fundamentalist logic. The movement is too bound up in polarizing ideologies that pit humans against nature, conservation against development, and government regulation against economic growth. Only when we acknowledge the infinite perspectives on how people should relate to nature will we forge solutions that are respectful to both humanity and the environment." "Infinite Nature opens doors so that nature can be seen from the scientific understandings proffered by anthropology, evolution, and ecology, to the promise of environmental responsibility offered by technology and economics, to the designs of nature envisioned in philosophy, art, law, and religion. Along the way, Hull helps us find the common ground created out of many natures - the place where sustainable and thriving communities are possible."--BOOK JACKET

Philosophizing Ad Infinitum written by Marcel Conche and has been published by SUNY Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-05-09 with Philosophy categories.

An original and insightful account of nature and our place in it from one of France’s preeminent historians of philosophy. One of France’s preeminent historians of philosophy, Marcel Conche has written and translated more than thirty-five books and is recognized for his groundbreaking and authoritative work in Greek philosophy, as well as on Montaigne. In Philosophizing ad Infinitum, one of his most remarkable and daring books, Conche articulates a unique and powerful understanding of nature, inclusive of humanity, as infinite in time and space—ever self-renewing, eternal, and beyond complete understanding or control. In today’s world the notion of infinity is at the core of the crisis humanity faces understanding nature. For the last two hundred years economies have been running at full speed, fueled by the implicit belief that natural resources are infinite; however, it is clear that they are not and that humanity needs to radically rethink the foundations of environmental and economic systems. Conche seeks to begin this rethinking, illustrating along the way insightful and sometimes unorthodox ideas about Plato, Aristotle, Epicurus, Montaigne, Nietzsche, Bergson, and others. “Philosophizing ad Infinitum: this book paints a perfect picture of the life of Marcel Conche, a natural-born philosopher. His aptitude to question absolutely everything drove him to the pre-Socratics, even at an early age, in his relentless quest for the truth. With Montaigne, the thinker to whom he feels most akin, Marcel Conche stands tall as an exceptional figure in contemporary French philosophy, renewing and enriching a great philosophical tradition.” — Françoise Dastur, University of Nice Sophia Antipolis

You would be hard-pressed to find someone who categorically opposes protecting the environment, yet most people would agree that the environmentalist movement has been ineffectual and even misguided. Some argue that its agenda is misplaced, oppressive, and misanthropic—a precursor to intrusive government, regulatory bungles, and economic stagnation. Others point out that its alarmist rhetoric and preservationist solutions are outdated and insufficient to the task of galvanizing support for true reform. In this impassioned and judicious work, R. Bruce Hull argues that environmentalism will never achieve its goals unless it sheds its fundamentalist logic. The movement is too bound up in polarizing ideologies that pit humans against nature, conservation against development, and government regulation against economic growth. Only when we acknowledge the infinite perspectives on how people should relate to nature will we forge solutions that are respectful to both humanity and the environment. Infinite Nature explores some of these myriad perspectives, from the scientific understandings proffered by anthropology, evolution, and ecology, to the promise of environmental responsibility offered by technology and economics, to the designs of nature envisioned in philosophy, law, and religion. Along the way, Hull maintains that the idea of nature is social: in order to reach the common ground where sustainable and thriving communities are possible, we must accept that many natures can and do exist. Incisive, heartfelt, and brimming with practical solutions, Infinite Nature brings a much-needed and refreshing voice to the table of environmental reform.

This book is my contribution of intuitive epistemology. This book discusses many new understandings of ultimate reality but, primarily, new understandings of the nature of God, the nature of man, and the nature and origin of our present universe. God is described as not personal, not all-powerful, not all-knowing, and not all-present. Individualized man is described as the unknowing expression of God. The universe is described as composed, in part, of the formless realm, the physical realm, the purgatorial realm, the spiritual realm, and the infinite void. The transbeingness of man is described as formless man, physical man, purgatorial man, and spiritual man. Individualized man, a nonspecific term for individualizations of infinite man, is described as alternately existing in two realities. The first reality is core reality. In core reality, individualized man is in total self-conscious unity and harmony with God. Thus, in core reality, individualized man exists in a mental self-realizing state of total harmony and bliss. The second reality is objective reality. In objective reality, individualized man experiences his infinite existence. This experiencing of existence is described as the purpose for individualized mans existence. Also, a fundamental understanding of this book is understanding the difference between real experiences and nonreal experiences. All functions within ultimate reality comprise real experiences. All experiences self-consciously created by individualized man are nonreal experiences. It is through the creative experiencing of objective existence that individualized man understands himself, God, and the purpose for his infinite existence. Finally, this book describes heaven and hell. Individualized man self-punishes himself for all his wrongdoings; God punishes no one. Hell is reserved for the individualizations of man that self-consciously reject God, but real physical hell is not a place of punishment.

During an age we are challenged with issues of racial, gender, economic, and environmental disparity, it is critical to understand the ways in which we are all truly one. Drawing on scientific principles, The Infinite One illuminates some of the reasons why you, and everything you can sense around you, is incredibly sacred and unified. From the space around you to each and every moment of your existence, it is all worthy of deep respect and admiration. How you see your own life, your relationship with others, and your relationship with the universe will be challenged. The eventual conclusion is that many things you might draw differences to are both infinite and one. If we are to achieve sustainable harmony between all people and life, we must be ready to embrace nature's important revelations.
