In a sense, the Keys for Discipline merely help you gain a clearer understanding of God's instructions for everyday life while reminding you of the negative outcomes of the lack thereof. Self-Discipline is necessary and vital in the life of every Believer. Because it's not always comfortable or easy, people resist it, pretend it's unnecessary, or avoid it all together. God is clear in His word about what happens when there is no discipline or self-control in our lives. God's instruction on discipline enables you to choose wisely followed by your actions, thoughts, and behaviors in order to accomplish a goal. It gives you the power to overcome those things that are hazardous or harmful to the Believers way of living including addictions, procrastination and laziness, and to follow through with whatever you do. This book covers various characteristics of spiritual self-discipline including the ability to reject instant gratification of the flesh and the subliminal messages from the devil and his crew. The Keys for Discipline is a unique approach of expressions for common sense living of a godly life skillfully in an ungodly world. These nuggets of truth fit in every arena of life --home, school, work, church, or traveling abroad. It's designed is to teach the Believer not only how to have self-discipline, but why we need it including the benefits thereof. Although most Believers acknowledge its importance, few do anything to strengthen it based on the Word of God leaving them with unpleasant and sometimes dangerous or deadly results.

When Communication Became a Discipline argues that speech and journalism professors embraced the concept of communication between 1964 and 1982. They changed the names of their scholarly societies and journals and revised their academic curricula. Five “strands” of scholarship became and remain central to this transformation. Communication is not a traditional academic discipline, but its scholars convinced their colleagues to understand and embrace it. When Communication Became a Discipline presents an argument with historical evidence that illustrates scholarly creativity at its finest.

This Summer 2009 (VII, 3) issue of Human Architecture: Journal of the Sociology of Self-Knowledge, is devoted to the theme “Sociological Re-Imaginations in & of Universities.” As part of the journal’s continuing series critically engaging with C. Wright Mills’ “sociological imagination,” i.e., the proposition that the best way to theorize and practice sociology is via a continual conversation between the study of one’s personal troubles and that of broader public issues, the present issue turns its attention to fostering sociological re-imaginations in and of universities. Several faculty, recent graduates or alumni, and current undergraduate students advance insightful, critical perspectives about their own learning and teaching experiences and personal “troubles,” and broader university, disciplinary, and administrative “public issues” that in their view merit immediate attention in favor of fundamental rectifications of outdated procedures and educational habita that continue to persist at the cost of more creative, and in fact more scientific and rational, approaches to production and dissemination of knowledge. Contributors include: Satoshi Ikeda, Sandra J. Song, L. Lynda Harling Stalker, Jason Pridmore, Festus Ikeotuonye, Samuel Zalanga, Donald A. Nielsen, Anne Bubriski, Penelope Roode, Belle Summer, E. M. Walsh, Ann Marie Moler, Minxing Zheng, Andrew Messing, Jillian Pelletier, Christine Quinn, Trevor Doherty, Lisa Kemmerer, and Mohammad H. Tamdgidi (also as journal editor-in-chief). Discipline written by John Clifford Holt and has been published by Motilal Banarsidass Publishe this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995 with Buddhism categories.

Discipline: The Canonical Buddhism of the Vinayapitaka is a penetrating analysis of a heretofore neglected, yet centrally important portion of the Pali Canon. In identifying the pivotal role of discipline in the bhikkhu quest for nibbana Professor Holt finds that Vinaya rules represent a practical implementation of the Budha's Dhamma. Specifically, adherence to this monastic code theoretically facilitates an overcoming of asavas, mental dispositions that foster attachment to the self and thus perpetuate the process of samsaric kammic retribution. The formulation of Buddhist monastic law, therefore, need not be seen as the result of casuistry; rather, it is the consequence of a conscious attempt on the part of the early Buddhist tradition to identify behavioral expressions that at once generate and reflect a calmed, detached and disciplined mental and spiritual state. The author has also examined the significance of the principal rituals of Buddhist monasticism as they are prescribed within the Vinaya text. He interprets these rites as cultic celebrations of discipline which, in turn, legitimate the Sangha's claim to be the embodiment and reservoir of the Buddha's teachings. The claim supported the Sangha's role of occupying a mediating position between the spiritual needs of the laity and the authority and the spiritual exemplar of Buddhism, the Buddha. In short, Discipline, written from the perspective of the history of religious approach, contributed significantly to the increased understanding of the dynamics of the Buddhist religion in its formulative stages.
