This is an extraordinary new fable from one of the world's greatest living novelists, two-time Booker Prize winner and Nobel Laureate. David is a small boy who comes by boat across the ocean to a new country. He has been separated from his parents, and has lost the piece of paper that would have explained everything. On the boat a stranger named Simon takes it upon himself to look after the boy. On arrival they are assigned new names, new birthdates. They know little Spanish, the language of their new country, and nothing about its customs. They have also suffered a kind of forgetting of old attachments and feelings. They are people without a past. Simon's goal is to find the boy's mother. He feels sure he will know her when he sees her. And David? He wants to find his mother too but he also wants to understand where he is and how he fits in. He is a boy who is always asking questions. The Childhood of Jesus is not like any other novel you have read. This beautiful and surprising fable is about childhood, about destiny, about being an outsider. It is a novel about the riddle of experience itself. J.M. Coetzee was the first author to win the Booker Prize twice and was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2003. His work includes Waiting for the Barbarians, Life and Times of Michael K, The Master of Petersburg, Disgrace and Diary of a Bad Year. He lives in Adelaide. 'Coetzee is a master we scarcely deserve.' Age 'Coetzee gradually, with great intelligence and skill, brings to extraordinary - possibly divine - life an ostensibly simple story.' Weekend Australian 'A theological and philosophical fable of considerable brilliance, power and wit. Coetzee hasn't done anything as fine and beautifully executed as this since Disgrace.' Canberra Times and Age '[A] quiet, haunting novel...Coetzee's calm, emblematic prose lifts the plot into something redolent with metaphor and mystery...Any statement can become a symbol; every event is suffused with potential revelation; something magical is always present and just out of reach...It's a memorable accomplishment, turning the everyday into the almost everlasting.' Weekend Herald (NZ) 'Double Booker Prize-winner Coetzee's fable has a dream-like, Kafkaesque quality. Are we in some kind of heaven, purgatory or simply another staging post of existence? Clear answers are elusive, but this is a riveting, thought-provoking read and surely Coetzee's best novel since Disgrace more than a decade ago.' Daily Mail 'Written with all of Coetzee's penetrating rigour, it will be an early contender for an unprecedented third Booker prize.' Observer 'The Childhood of Jesus represents a return to the allegorical mode that made him famous...a Kafkaesque version of the nativity story...The Childhood of Jesus does ample justice to his giant reputation: it's richly enigmatic, with regular flashes of Coetzee's piercing intelligence.' Guardian 'The sense of calm, furthered by Coetzee's spare prose, is very unsettling...These are not the horrors of Waiting for the Barbarians, this is the horror of banality.' Independent on Sunday

Planet Jesus Trilogy written by Douglas Brode and has been published by Sunbury Press, Incorporated this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-02-25 with Fiction categories.

Where The Twilight Zone meets The New Testament is where 'Flesh and Blood, ' the first volume in the PLANET JESUS trilogy, takes place. In his latest novel, Douglas Brode, now collaborating with his son Shaun L., retells the old story of The Christ with a new twist: The angel Gabriel, who descended from the stars to impregnate Mary, wife of Joseph, with a Divine Child was actually an ancient alien. His purpose was to create a high-level hybrid race so that civilization on earth could rapidly advance. In "Book One: Flesh and Blood," Brode and Brode tell the tale of Jesus' childhood, from the earliest known adventures to that moment when, at age twelve, the Biblical hero appears to disappear from Israel. In "Book Two: Body and Soul," the team will offer an explanation of the so-called Missing Years. "Book Three: Hope and Glory," will re-evaluate the Return, the Mission, and the Crucifixion for 21st century readers. What the Bible takes at face value as inexplicable metaphysical occurrences will be analyzed in a realistic manner, if according to the belief (as expressed in such influential books as CHARIOTS OF THE GODS) that ancient deities, as crudely recorded on the walls of caves and later presented as sophisticated artworks) were not the product of early humankind's imagination but their attempts to document our First Encounters with extra-terrestrial beings. PLANET JESUS also develops the ever-expanding theory that The Savior may well have been a woman: The Daughter, rather than the Son, of Man. Think of this as "Close Encounters of the Christ Kind."

'Still Being Jesus' is an account of the historical Jesus being continually reincarnated after his death on the cross. Yet rather than returning to be worshiped, he has chosen to simply live in the periods he finds himself. The story begins with Jesus describing his first reincarnation 150-years after his death, taking the reader back to Palestine after the Jewish revolt and the destruction of The Second Temple. Once there, Jesus comes face to face with the legacy of Christ, and is forced to confront the fact that he is no longer in control of his own story. In the ensuing chapters, Jesus recounts some of the lives he has lived where significant personal experiences occurred. In Arabia during the rise of Islam, as a Cathar before the massacre at Beziers, as a young African man captured and brought to a Jamaican sugar plantation, and a coal miner growing up in Yorkshire during the rise of the industrial revolution. These different lives are told by including the compelling issues that changed humanity in these periods, as well as portraying Jesus personal views while he lived anonymously among friends and family, trying to make the best of each new life he experienced. There is no biblical theme here. This is a story about humanity, with Jesus as the central character expressing his opinion on issues like the hypocrisy of organized religion, the abhorrence of the slave trade, and the despair and bleakness brought on by the industrial revolution. Yet the underlying message is that there is always hope, through good and bad, and there is always progress toward a brighter future where people are less intolerant and more inclined to do unto others as they would have others do unto them. The thread of the story is survival, but there is also a message that we can do more than just survive. Jesus argues that we have advanced by increasing our general understanding of morality and justice, just as much as we have advanced due to our science and technology. Yet the story of humanity is obviously not over, and in fact appears to be at one of its most critical points as we move through the nuclear age and continue to deal with our modernity. Yet the answer to one central question always remains hidden to him, why is he still here?

“Both the knowledge of a scholar and the imagination of a poet are brought to bear upon Jesus as child, boy, and man. . . . A bold speculative adventure” (Harold Brighouse, Manchester Guardian). In Robert Graves’s unique retelling, Jesus is very much a mortal and the grandson of King Herod the Great. When his father runs afoul of the king’s temper and is executed, Jesus is raised in the house of Joseph the Carpenter. The kingdom he is heir to, in this version of the story, is very much a terrestrial one: the Kingdom of Judah. Graves tells of Jesus’s rise as a philosopher, scriptural scholar, and charismatic speaker in sharp detail, as well as his arrest and downfall as a victim of pitiless Roman politics. Bringing together his unparalleled narrative skill and in-depth expertise in historical scholarship, renowned classicist and historical novelist Robert Graves brings the story of Jesus Christ to life in a strikingly unorthodox way, making this one of the most hotly contested novels Graves ever wrote—and possibly one of the most controversial ever written. It provides a fascinating new twist to a well-known story, one that fans of this historical period are sure to love. “This is not reading for the easily shocked; it definitely presents Jesus as a sage and a [poet], if not divine. It moves, as does all Mr. Graves’ writing, at a brilliant fast pace, and with a tremendous style.” —Kirkus Reviews
