The Paradigm of the Kingdom of God This book traces redemptive history, from the Garden of Eden to the New Heaven and Earth, through the paradigm of the kingdom of God. Jesus Christ's saving work is the supreme event in all history, but it takes place within the context of the kingdom. When we follow God's plan of salvation through the kingdom's progress, the events unfold like an immense novel because we see God's divine providence revealed through both biblical and secular accounts. God initiates the kingdom paradigm when he tells Adam and Eve to be "fruitful and multiply . . . and rule" (Gen. 1:28). This is a mandate to establish God's righteous kingdom on the earth, and it is repeated to Noah and then Israel. But the story of the Old Testament is that Adam and Eve, Noah and his family, and Israel, all sin and rebel and cannot establish God's kingdom. The New Testament tells us about Jesus Christ, the Son of God, coming to earth to become one of us. He begins His ministry by proclaiming, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel" (Mark 1:15). Jesus begins to fulfill the kingdom mandate. He is fruitful and multiplies through spiritual children. And Jesus begins to rule: He teaches, casts out demons, calms storms, heals the sick, raises the dead, and feeds the hungry. He establishes a kingdom of His faithful followers. But Jesus must also die for their sins, and rise again, so that they can be declared righteous, fit for God's kingdom. After Jesus ascends to heaven and establishes the Church, the kingdom advances through the Church's ministry. Understanding redemptive history through the kingdom paradigm differs from the long standing interpretations of Dispensationalism and Covenantalism. These views are considered in this book, but the focus is on how the kingdom is central to God's design for history. Following its progress helps us see our location and roles in the fulfillment of God's divine plan. This can inform our faith and increase Church unity as we glorify God through His amazing plan of redemption.

The gospel is not about a law you must keep.It is about receiving a life that will keep you. It is not about living this lifeout of fear. It is about living a life of faith. It is not about rules. It is about arelationship with the Father. The message of John the Baptist and of Jesus is simply this; repent, for thekingdom of God is at hand. The kingdom of God is one paradigm shift away. Oneof the meanings of the word repent is to change your mind. It also means to changeone's bent, or to turn about. Many times, when we preach repentance, we preachwhat we turn from, but we never emphasize what we turn toward. Many have turnedfrom law and religion, only to turn toward the bondage of sin. Or they have turnedfrom the bondage of sin, only to trade it for the bondage of religion. The messageof this book is primarily to help you turn toward the present reality of the kingdomof God. The gospel of the kingdom is not just about a ticket to heaven someday. Itis about receiving the Holy Spirit that will allow you to live the abundant life as acitizen of the kingdom of God right now. The message that John the Baptist wasdeclaring was that of another form of government called the kingdom. It was comingon the scene, and would replace the government of the law.The Message Bible, in II Corinthians 3:7-9 calls the old covenant the governmentof death and condemnation. It was a constitution chiseled on stone tablets. The newcovenant is the constitution of the kingdom and is a government of affirmation. Itis written on the fleshly tablets of our heart. It is the government of the living spirit. This book will help you turn toward the Lord. When our heart turns toward theLord, the veil will be taken away. This book will help you make the paradigm shiftfrom law to grace.

For 2000 years, we have preached a gospel focused on being saved from hell and going to heaven. We have made Jesus our Savior and Lord but not our King. We have focused on planting churches and finding the best way to run church services, meetings, and programs. In the interim, we have not been valuing our life here on earth but instead looking to the heavens awaiting the return of Jesus. Despite the Kingdom of God being the most important message of all time that Jesus spoke on, like the elephant in the room, we have simply ignored it or treated it as an abstract concept. Some have filed it away in the too-hard basket. For King and Kingdom recovers this lost paradigm. Bringing to the fore a lost King and Kingdom, it challenges us to consider how we should be living our daily lives accordingly within it. "I hereby sentence you to an unending process of sighting, seeing, seeking, seizing, being seized, searching, soaring, singing, speaking and, yes, sharing in the unconfined realm of His limitless Kingdom with no borders, no horizons, no yesterdays, no tomorrows, no waiting, no weeping over the past, no worrying over the future, living in one eternal NOW in the family of God." Jack R. Taylor (Papa Jack Taylor) Cosmic Initiative (unpublished edition)

What is the Kingdom of God understanding in Roman occupied Palestine as depicted in Mark’s narrative is the goal of the book. The book stresses the social and political dimension of the Kingdom of God in Mark against a always futurist, eschatological and spiritual understanding of the concept. The Book then draws implications from the Mennonite Brethren church of Congo to see whether a shift paradigm of this concept can bring more empowerment and social, economic and political vision of this conservative organization.
