The Knowledge that Leads to Wholeness is the first book to specifically illustrate how the major Gnostic myths underlie Jungs theory of individuation. It is a compelling and in-depth examination of a life-changing journey that begins with the author discovering the forgotten secrets of the Gnostics. These secrets are gradually unveiled as the author and his loyal dog, Gold, are initiated, each in their own way, to put the ancient knowledge into practice. Dr. Lloyd explores the esoteric side of Carl Jung and reveals the connections between Jungs pivotal theory of individuation, i.e. the journey to wholeness, and the powerful, visionary myths told by the pioneers of the psyche, the Gnostics. He details what happens to a person who is on the road to wholeness, how the person will change, and how a new divine-human identity will be born into the world as a result of undertaking this transformational odyssey. -KIRKUS DISCOVERIES Review - Did Carl Jungs principles of psychology have Gnostic origins? A Marine Corps Ph.D. explores the complex mystical possibilities. Lloyd splits his expansive hypothesis of the souls journey into three vital steps (preparation, undertaking and re-birth) in discovering Jungs path to wholeness. He credits Jung with saving his life by way of unlocking his imagination (the souls voice) and spiritual mindset. The author familiarizes readers with the Gnostic religious movement, practitioners of an intensely spiritual inner exploration, who believed that humans are not bound to experiences solely of the body and mind. His literary gift to Jung is these comparative ruminations, all exuding a great amount of imagination and provocative thought. Running parallel to the authors spiritually progressive interests is his adventuresome interaction with and imaginal dog named Gold, who discovers two seeds of knowledge. The first rediscovers the spark of divine life, whereby humans are one and the same with God, and the second amplifies Jungs individuation theory that the human ego must relate to the unconscious mind to achieve psychological health. Unerringly throughout his narrative, Lloyd grafts Gnostic myths with Jungian wisdom. He focuses on the psychic creator and king of the material world Demiurge in association with second-century Gnostic visionary Valentinus, whose tragic myth of Sophia tells of a restless female deity who travels outside of herself searching for wholeness rather than looking inward, and her ultimate repentance. Comparatively, Jung also writes of humans who restrict themselves to their five senses rather than tapping into the core strength of their imaginative visions where uncanny experiences might spring forth. As Lloyd (and Gold) survey principles of higher consciousness, the self, the transformative life-cycle process, and the concluding Syrian lyrical myth Song of the Pearl as they are juxtaposed against Jungs theories, the author also cites Gnostic challenges to contemporary religious beliefs as in the re-imagined genesis of Jesus of Nazareth. Most interestingly, Lloyd inserts Jung into his narrative to quiz his arbiters as to whether they have the desire to discover the mystery of their existence. Unfiltered hokum for some, but those who are open to it will find much-needed nourishment and direction for their searching souls. --Nielsen Business Media, 770 Broadway, New York, NY 10003 646-654-7277 fax 646-654-4706 [email protected] Visit www.robertcharleslloyd.com

Imagine a rope braided out of seven strands of twine, forming a circle so that even the ends of the rope are woven together. That is an image of human wholeness. This book proposes seven aspects to human wholeness: intellectual, psychological, emotional, physical, sexual, spiritual, and aesthetic. After examining each of these aspects, this work presents a spirituality of relationship. It also explores how human wholeness is a basis for relationship. Two people relating to each other out of each person's wholeness provide the occasion for an experience of the divine. All relationships begin with some connectivity to an aspect of human wholeness. As both parties enter more deeply into their relationship, more connectivity is achieved. By reflecting on the experiences of one's life in dialogue with a trusted friend, a person discovers the freedom to be who he or she is in the presence of the other and receives back the gift he or she offers to the other in total freedom. This transcendent aspect of a relationship can enable friends to discover God in each other, as each other. Jesus serves as a model for human relating; in him all aspects are woven together into a whole human being.

You may be wondering why I've written a book on wholeness, and why the topic is wholeness now. Every fiber in my being truly believes that whole life belongs to us in Christ, and the moment for wholeness is now. Jesus died for us to be made whole now-not when we die and go to heaven. Let me start by introducing myself. My birth name is Adepeju Adeite Idowu Enitan Eniola Christina Odufunade. My father's name is Prince Adepoju Olayeni Odufunade and my mother is Princess Sikirat Adunni Odufunade (surname Lawal). I am married to Omotayo OrederuMy father, Prince Adepoju, died three days after I was born. Father did not die a normal death, father was killed by the political opposing party during the 1960s Nigeria political uproar. Again, why wholeness. Adepeju, which is my birth and legal name, means completeness in royalty or wholeness in royalty. It is my birth name given to me by my father, who did not witness my naming ceremony. On the third day after I was born, father picked me from the hospital and brought me to the house. He went on a journey to another town to visit his friend, and the mob saw him on his way, and killed him. So father did not come back to his family and his newborn baby. However, father had already given my name to my stepmother. As if he knew he was not going to live to see his baby, father told my stepmother that if anything should happen to him, I should be named Adepeju Adeite. On the eighth day, as Yoruba culture is, I was given the name Adepeju Adeite as directed by my late father. The scripture says train up a child in the way he should go, and when the child is grown he will not depart from it. My earlier years of Anglican creed and bible memory verses later in life became very useful. Those words became anchors to me. What I will like to share in this book is that yes, my birth name is Adepeju, which literally means wholeness, fullness, or completeness in royalty. However, as a born-again believer washed by the blood of Jesus, the scripture says that you are already complete, you are already made whole and you are also a royal priesthood and a holy nation. However, how do we manifest this wholeness in our present lifetime? In my own case, I had to pass through many challenges and crises in my personal life and ministry. Some of the challenge stems from the truth that I was raised by a single mother. But, by the special grace of God, I was able to walk in consciousness of the finished work of Christ. It may take trials and tribulations to manifest the wholeness, for the Scripture says in James 1:2-4: "My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete". You see that word perfect and complete meaning wholeness through trials that enables us to come to spiritual maturity, and the place of spiritual maturity is our place of wholeness. The path of wholeness in this book is the path that I have walked and am still walking through the different troubles that I have gone through. From a little girl looking for her late father, to crisis in marriage, I have been able to count all joy, and the trials and challenges has helped me to produce patient, patient has produce its perfect work in my journey to wholeness. The place of wholeness is the place of eternal life, eternal life is not just that we live forever, it is a place of intimacy with God, oneness with God, been in the now moment, the present moment all the time. The nine pathways laid down in this book has help me tremendously, and I have no doubt, that you, my beloved readers will achieve a great result. Be Blessed as you read

Body Knowledge: A Path to Wholeness provides a critical exposition of the philosophy of Michael Polanyi, a twentieth century Hungarian scientist and philosopher. Professor Long focuses on Polanyi’s controversial multi-disciplinary work that charts a new vision of knowledge, the knower, knowledge seekers, and the philosophical foundations of science. Long integrates Polanyi’s work into contemporary philosophical and scientific discussions about consciousness, knowledge, and the role of the knower-as-person. Polanyi’s pioneering work restores the wholeness of body, mind, and spirit.

Critically examining the Western, secular approach to formal education, the author contests the value of an education system focusing solely on the intellectual and physical aspects of human development. The methodological aim and structure of this approach are compared to those of Islam which Dr. Al Zeera notes gives credence to the importance of spiritual and religious factors, as well as scholarly ones, with the overall objective of forming whole and holy human being who, instead of resisting the paradoxes of life, uses their interrelatedness as a means of personal and societal development. One interesting factor examined within the broader framework of the study is the area of female spirituality, an element, which the author argues, is vastly under-represented in prevalent Islamic literature. This study is a holistic view of knowledge and a sociological discussion adopting an unconventional approach of using the author’s own personal experiences as the basis for debate and analysis. We are invited to enter the world of understanding and observation to experience for ourselves an unusual approach to dialectical thinking.

The world is changing; culture is shifting. Never has safety and security been more desired. What shakes also spills. Pressure spills to the surface. And when struggles become visible, safety becomes more invaluable. We only encounter true freedom and wholeness when we know we can speak and hear truth with no fear of retribution. Look at the ministry of Jesus. He created spaces of safety. He also never blamed people for how they got sick. Jesus' invitations are never based on whose struggles are more easily dealt with. In His Kingdom, in His house and under His care, there is no 'us' and 'them'. Jesus said over and over that He came for the sick, the broken, the oppressed, depressed, those caught in chains. He came for us. Each person, as well as every part of who we are, body, soul and spirit, matters to God. And if it matters to God, it must matter to us. With the world changing so are people's struggles. In years past what worked in prayer and ministry may not work today, because people's concerns and experiences of personal difficulties have changed. And just with anything else we should be growing in how we learn and deliver ministry. God wants to bring people into wholeness. And one of the greatest acts of kindness we can do is provide a safe place in order to witness people's struggles, so that we may love, care for and pray and minister to them more effectively.
