"The Laney Saga" is an historical fiction about the ancestry and lives of Titus and Hannah Laney. The book is actually three books, depicting the ancestry of Titus, the ancestry of Hannah and finally, their life together. The book begins in the year 69 AD with the Roman army. Over the course of the next 300 pages we see how Laney ancestors dealt with hunger, marauders, the elements, the Black Death, religion, and persecution. You will be enthralled with Hannah's ancestors: characters such as Dei, Carlin, Teige, Liam, Sophie and Carrie. You will be equally impressed with the ancestors of Titus: Derry, Boruck, Harold, Joseph and Olaf. Some of the characters actually existed such as Hugh Slaini, Teigena Lann, Dubslane, Finn, O'Dubhshlaine and Johann Lennich. This book is a walk through history as we see what molded our ancestors and made them the men and women that still influences their descendants to this day. There is romance, anger, religious persecution, witchcraft, plague, war and even a fight in the coliseum at Rome. The Roman Empire, Druids, Feudalism, the Thirty Years' War, sailing the Atlantic, wagon trains, Indians and the Revolutionary War are all mentioned. The book begins with Titus and Hannah's ancestors caught up in 69 AD in a war with Rome. It concludes with one of their ancestors serving in the military in Iraq. This story embellishes the many amazing accomplishments of women throughout America during these transitional years and is based loosely on the lives of four actual women. The story covers the years 1880 through 1969, with brief glimpses back into the Creek Indian Wars and the War Between the States. Lizzie has a lifetime struggle with religion, racism, elitism, disappointing love affairs, death, war, women’s suffrage, and the change from horse and buggy to men landing on the moon. Indeed, Lizzie LaBeau lived a full life, and the reader will have a greater appreciation for what women like her have accomplished over the years. And the final chapter will tug at your heartstrings.

I was surprised when a friend told me he wasn't aware that St. Bernard had ever had a college. After thinking about it for a moment, I realized it had been almost thirty years since St. Bernard College closed its doors. That was what motivated me to write a book about my experience there. I attended St. Bernard College from August 1966 until May 1970. It was a time when St. Bernard College strived with attendance peeking during those years. Also of significance, various sports were putting St. Bernard on the map. The 1967-68 basketball team was outstanding, winning their conference championship in one of the highest scoring games in conference history. In writing the book, I mention many other things that went on there, including campus activities, other sports and the professors, priests and students of the college. The book emphasizes two primary things: that outstanding basketball team of 1967-68 of which I was a member, and the influence Coach Charles Richard had on his athletes, students and the college itself. You will take a walk down memory lane as you read about what it was like at St. Bernard College in the late Sixties.
