WORDSONGS-3, Recovery is the third album in The Wordsongs Series. The pains of life do not spare any of us. We all struggle and look for something to ease the pain. This book follows the broken dreams of a lonely man who used drugs and alcohol to cope with the pain in his life. Observe his broken dreams and struggles on side one and his re-awakening to a new life in recovery on side 2. In this inspirational and innovative book, C. Steven Blue presents another great set of heartfelt wordsongs. The Wordsongs Series Each book in this series contains 20 pieces designed to be similar in scope to a music record album, with side one and side two, but instead of songs it is made up of a style of poems called wordsongs. Each book is a concept album, with a general theme running through it, told in verse format. Wordsongs are the original creation of C. Steven Blue, who also created a definition for this concept: word'song, n. [AS. wordsong.] 1. a poem that is like a song or could be a song 2. verses that tell a story in song-like rhythm, often with a refrain 3. a song that you read *Note: The wordsongs in this book are extracted from the 186 page, full-length book by C. Steven Blue: S.O.S. Songs Of Sobriety A Personal Journey Of Recovery. That book took over 20 years to write and covers the first 10 years in the recovery process. My Silver Planet written by Daniel Tiffany and has been published by JHU Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014 with Literary Criticism categories.

Reveals the hidden origins of kitsch in poetry from the eighteenth century. Taking its title from John Keats, My Silver Planet contends that the problem of elite poetry’s relation to popular culture bears the indelible mark of its turbulent incorporation of vernacular poetry—a legacy shaped by nostalgia, contempt, and fraudulence. Daniel Tiffany reactivates and fundamentally redefines the concept of kitsch, freeing it from modernist misapprehension and ridicule, by tracing its origin to poetry’s alienation from the emergent category of literature. Tiffany excavates the forgotten history of poetry’s relation to kitsch, beginning with the exuberant revival of archaic (and often spurious) ballads in Britain in the early eighteenth century. In these controversial events of poetic imposture, Tiffany identifies a submerged pact—in opposition to the bourgeois values of literature—between elite and vernacular poetries. Tiffany argues that the ballad revival—the earliest explicit formation of what we now call popular culture—sparked a perilous but seemingly irresistible flirtation (among elite audiences) with poetic forgery that endures today in the ambiguity of the kitsch artifact: Is it real or fake, art or kitsch? He goes on to trace the genealogy of kitsch in texts ranging from nursery rhymes and poetic melodrama to the lyric commodities of Baudelaire. He scrutinizes the fascist “paradise” inscribed in Ezra Pound’s Cantos as well as the avant-garde poetry of the New York School and its debt to pop and “plastic” art. By exposing and elaborating the historical poetics of kitsch, My Silver Planet transforms our sense of kitsch as a category of material culture.

The Night Sky written by Ann Lauterbach and has been published by Penguin this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-03-25 with Poetry categories.

A scintillating collection of essays on language from one of literature's most supple minds In The Night Sky, her first work of essays, acclaimed poet Ann Lauterbach writes of the ways in which art and poetry are integral and necessary to human conversation. At the center of the book is a series of seven essays, by turns meditative and polemical, that articulate the interstices between Lauterbach's poetics and her experience. She advocates an active encounter with language, at once imaginative and practical, and argues for the importance of art to the well- being of a democratic society. Lauterbach's "nimble and glittering" (Booklist) writings bring us to a new understanding of the relationship between self-knowledge and cultural meaning, as well as demonstrating the ways in which contemporary philosophy and theory might be integrated with practical knowledge.

St John Of The Cross His Life And Poetry written by Gerald Brenan and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1973-05-17 with Literary Criticism categories.

The paperback edition of a very successful and in some ways remarkable book, first published in 1973. Gerald Brenan is well known for his 'expository' works on Spanish history and literature, and now in his eighties he has returned to an early interest in the Spanish mystics to produce an absorbing study of St John of the Cross, one of the foremost of Catholic mystics and poets. The book is perhaps the first in English to combine an objective - but sensitive and lively - account of St John's life with a fresh translation (by Mr Brenan's associate Lynda Nicholson) of his verse.

Rag Water written by Christopher Heffernan and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-05-01 with Poetry categories.

Rag Water, by Christopher Heffernan, is a book of poetry highlighted by several pieces of flash fiction that help tell the story of our lonesome sometimes brutal path through our hopes and dreams to our loses and hard won triumphs. A book that uses at times a tough language to find the delicate balance between our everyday gutters and the further reaches of where we end as human beings and begin to see and even touch what is greater. The light of night shown through Bowery bars at three in the morning. The place where we try to find a frantic common ground in a love breaking apart in hands that only want to hold. Rag Water brings the reader to the edge of the self that most want to ignore, where we see out of the corners of the eye what is petty and selfish and lost, only to be set back on the heels of how beautiful the victory of a simple cup of coffee can be as we see that self square in the face and win it back one moment at at time.

Daybreak On The Water written by Gary Lark and has been published by Flowstone Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-10 with categories.

As a child, Gary Lark camped where a creek joins Oregon's North Umpqua River, "sleeping in the river's voice." Confessing that "there's a part of me still there / surrounded by enormous trees / the river singing me alive," he offers us Daybreak on the Water, his song-cycle paying homage to the Umpqua. Here, the communion among river and poet and reader is palpable: at the fisherman's table, " the platter is passed from hand to hand, / each tongue tasting the river / in the salmon's flesh." This fisherman's river-poems carry what the Umpqua carries, "the wonderment of living things." -Paulann Petersen Oregon Poet Laureate Emerita Daybreak on the Water is a vivid and authentic reminiscence of a rugged, playful, deliberate and reflective life among the wild woods and waterways of Oregon's Umpqua valley. Lark's warmly told and deftly detailed narratives provide a natural and cultural history that will entertain and edify generations of readers. We meet many colorful characters-loggers, anglers, clammers, boatbuilders, poachers, sheriffs, sweethearts and old friends- that allow us to press ourselves "into the tides of each other / releasing our unutterable selves." -Henry Hughes, Oregon Book Award-winning poet and author of Back Seat with Fish
