If these conditions are not complied with, the patent is rendered invalid. France has a population of forty millions, and is noted for the number and variety of her arts and industries; but many of the processes are carried on by manual labor, which must eventually give way to ingenious machinery, of which, moreover, whether invented at home or abroad, French manufacturers have always shown a strong appreciation.
