There is a great deal of deception in the present Church world regarding The Law. A.W. Pink explains a great deal of the divine role of Law – and it's very different than the lawless interpretation of many of the current day “church” teachers. Even in Pink's day there was already a great amount of lawlessness and deception. Pink explains:“The term Antinomian signifies one who is against the Law. There is little need for us to pause and offer proof that this is an age of lawlessness. In every sphere of life the sad fact confronts us. In the well-nigh total absence of any real discipline in the majority of the churches, we see the principle exemplified. Not more than two generations ago, tens of thousands, of the loose-living members whose names are now retained on the membership rolls, would have been dis-fellowshipped. It is the same in the great majority of our homes. With comparatively rare exceptions, wives are no longer in subjection to their husbands (Eph. 5:22,24); and as for obeying them (1 Pet. 3:1,2,5,6), why, the majority of women demand that such a hateful word be stricken from the marriage ceremony. And what of conditions in the world? The abounding marital unfaithfulness, Sunday trading, banditry, and a dozen other things that might be mentioned, all bear witness to the frightful wave of lawlessness which is flowing over the country.”

There's a big difference between judgment and love, obligation and freedom, a wage and a gift. The difference characterizes an extraordinary amount of our day-to-day experience, often dividing fear from hope, and death from life. At the heart of Christianity lies a similar and related dynamic: between the Law and the Gospel. Far from being a reductive or antiquated distinction, understanding where one ends and the other begins allows a person to see both the Bible and themselves-indeed, the whole world!-in a fresh and enlivening way. Written with the non-theologian in mind, this short volume unpacks the good news of God's grace with practicality, humor, and a whole lot of heart.

The Saint S Spiritual Delight And A Christian On The Mount written by Thomas Watson and has been published by Puritan Publications this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-02-01 with Religion categories.

This work is a combination of two of Watson's rare treatises that were taught consecutively to his congregation. The first is called "The Saint's Spiritual Delight" which covers the first part of Psalm 1:2, “But his delight is in the Law of the Lord.” He explains what spiritual delight is, how it relates to the Law of God, the fountain of spiritual delight in Christ, and then covers hypocrisy, conscience, holy delight and thankfulness. His second treatise comes from the latter half of Psalm 1:2, "...and in his law doth he meditate day and night." This is a wonderful guide for biblical meditation and one of the best Puritan works on the subject aside from its brevity. He covers the nature of meditation, the duty of meditation, the subjects of meditation, time for mediation, the usefulness of meditation, the excellency of meditation and certain rules for mediation. This is not a scan or facsimile, has been updated in modern English for easy reading and has an active table of contents for electronic versions.

Man makes external things beautiful and better, but his sinful bent needs a constant check from an absolute standard. That absolute standard is the Moral Law of God, critical for man's code of conduct to have a peaceable family, civic communities and nations to survive. It holds him accountable as it is deeply embedded in the multitude of laws in every nation. When that standard is removed from the public arena, a nation or a family looses it's moral pinning and gradually deteriorates towards chaos and anarchy. Secondly, if you're a Christ believer, don't be deceived that you are no longer constrained by the Moral Law now that you're saved. It holds you accountable. You should be the first one to uphold it in your own life and in the society. Moral Law is the anvil, which makes or breaks a family or a nation. There is no middle ground!

Augustine And Modern Law written by RichardO. Brooks and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-07-05 with Law categories.

St. Augustine and Roman law are the two bridges from Athens and Jerusalem to the world of modern law. Augustine's almost eerily modern political realism was based upon his deep appreciation of human evil, arising from his insights into the human personality, the product of his reflections on his own life and the history of his times. These insights have traveled well through the ages and are mirrored in the pages of Aquinas, Luther and Calvin, Reinhold Niebuhr, and Hannah Arendt. The articles in this volume describe the life and world of Augustine and the ways in which he conceived both justice and law. They also discuss the little recognized Augustinian contributions to the field of modern hermeneutics - the discipline which informs the art of legal interpretation. Finally, they include Augustine's valuable discussion of church/state relations, the law of just wars, and proper role and limits of coercion, and the procreative dimensions of marriage. The volume also includes an extremely useful, definitive bibliography of Augustine and the law, and will leave readers with an increased appreciation of the contributions which Augustine has made to the history of jurisprudence. No one can read Augustine and these articles on his view of the law without taking away a new view of the law itself.
