Ireland has many secrets... this is one of them. The legend has been confirmed, the Great Wolf has been born. Abel Casey, a 16 year old student is in for the ride of his life, literally. The Pack princess Pru, she is on a mission to train Abel for his destiny. This is a werewolf story that will take one pack of wolves on the ride of their lives, someone won't survive....will the pack? The Legacy of Kilkenny an incredible journey for these young adults. The reader will be drawn into this romantic yet invigorating story of friends and action. The prophecy has been stated, now it will be lived. 5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Urban Fantasy! A Must Read! The Legacy of Kilkenny is a fantastic read. Devyn Dawson has created one amazing urban- fantasy world. The storyline is strong and fresh, with different werewolf packs, vampires, dream walkers, and seers--and that's just the tip of this awesome adventure. The characters are well-developed and full of personality. This is the first book I've read where the main boy and girl characters were not in love with each other, but it works. Dawson did beautifully with Pru already being in love with Oakley. I didn't dislike Pru for not returning Abel's feelings, and you will see why (no spoilers). I Heart YA Books

The story of Kilkenny is inextricably linked to the history of the Butlers, a family that stamped its mark not alone on Kilkenny but on the entire south east of Ireland. Today Kilkenny Castle stands as a monument to this remarkable family and Kilkenny city owes its existence to them. What was probably one of the most extraordinary facets of the Butlers was the fact that they were most prolific and their many sub branches included the Butlers of Mountgarret, the Butlers of Dunboyne, the Butlers of Carrick and numerous less well known branches such as the Butlers of Maidenhall. The fact that they managed to survive the Cromwellian carve up of Catholic lands is a tribute to their tenacity and intelligence. The various Cromwellian families that settled in Kilkenny did so at the expense of families that were less powerful such as the Shees, the Rothes and the Shortalls and the remnants of the Gaelic families such as the FitzPatricks. Many of these new families such as the Agars of Gowran, the Ponsonbys of Pilltown and the Wandesfordes of Castlecomer left indelible marks in their areas and many fine golf courses and parks exist today because of their industry. The legacy of beautiful houses and well maintained demesnes has all but been lost. Fortunately enough remain to ensure the continuity of settlement so vital to our understanding of history. Other families to emerge such as the Smithwicks, the Bryans, the Powers, the Floods and the St. Georges gave Kilkenny many distinguished and talented men and women who contributed to the advancement of mankind not alone in Ireland but in other far flung lands.

This collection, first published in 1982, brings together thirteen writers from a wide variety of critical traditions to take a fresh look at Joyce and his crucial position not only in English literature but in modern literature as a whole. Comparative views of his work include reflections on his relations to Shakespeare, Blake, MacDiarmid, and the Anglo-Irish revival. Essays, story and poems all combine to celebrate the major constituents of Joyce’s work – his imagination and comedy, his exuberant use of language, his relation to the history of his country and his age, and his passionate commitment to ‘a more veritably human tradition’.
