Little Andromeda is a young Ethiopian princess who is sent away from her parents and her palace home on a perilous journey. One day, an evil, selfish man decides to place a curse on her kingdom of Abyssinia, seeking to spread fear and superstition all throughout the land. In a desperate attempt to protect her from his dark, supernatural threat, her mother, Queen Cassiopeia, tells Andromeda to run away from home without giving her any explanation. Despite not understanding why she would do this, Andromeda obeys her mother’s command without question and finds herself in an exciting adventure exploring the mysterious jungles of her kingdom. There, she encounters many surprises, including a young prince named Perseus and his talking pet monkey, Solomon, who are traveling out of their home kingdom, Kenya, on a hunting trip. After she meets Perseus, Andromeda makes her very first friend outside of the palace, and they become very close as they try to solve the mystery about her magical star necklace. However, back at home, Andromeda’s parents and her kingdom’s people are in great danger, and King Cepheus and Queen Cassiopeia must make a huge decision to save their young daughter’s life before it’s too late. Feeling torn between her new friend and wanting to go home, Andromeda must also decide what’s truly important to her before time runs out. Can little Andromeda herself find a way to break the evil spell and save all the people she cares about while discovering why she’s special to her parents at the same time?

Since the beginning of humanity, Ethiopia was the origin of some of the most remarkable and important people in history. The bones of one of the first hominids, Lucy, were found in Ethiopia, and stories of legendary Ethiopians stretch back into ancient history. Some of these legends were so famous that they were recorded in ancient Greek Mythology. One of these is the story of the daughter of ancient Ethiopian King Cepheus and Queen Cassiopeia: Princess Andromeda. Andromeda's beauty was so renowned that it ignited the jealousy of Poseidon, who sent a great sea monster to devour her. But her plight inspired the Greek hero Perseus to intervene in her rescue, and then to marry her. Their story of love and hardship was immortalized as constellations which are still visible in Ethiopian night skies. Filled with gorgeous illustrations by Ethiopian artist Daniel Getahun and printed in English as well as Ethiopian languages including Amharic, Tigrinya and Afaan Oromo. Side-by-side translations support developing readers in building vocabulary and fluency. Ready Set Go Books, an Open Hearts Big Dreams Project, is focused on increasing the literacy rate in Ethiopia through giving readers books with stories in their heart languages, full of colorful illustrations with Ethiopian settings and details. The Legend Of Perseus written by Edwin Hartland and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-05-08 with categories.

The two incidents in the legend of Perseus which stood over for examination in the present volume were the rescue of Andromeda and the Medusa witch. Examining the rescue incident first, as it appears in Murchen and then in sagas, Mr. Hartland points out that, "popular as the story of the rescue of the devoted maiden is, and appealing as it does to the imagination, it is not a little remarkable that it appears to be indigenous only in the Old World." On the other hand, legends of the slaughter of a destructive monster, where there is no specific human being to deliver, not only extend beyond these limits, but frequently form part of the cosmogony of peoples alien in race and occupying distant portions of the globe. The question is, Does this difference in range of two distinct classes of rescue traditions help us to any satisfactory hypothesis as to the origin of the more important of the two -- the Andromeda type? Noting first that the veneration of the lower animals is one of the rudest and oldest forms of religious conceptions, and was kept alive by the "amazing toughness of tradition " in cults of a much higher grade like those of Egypt and ancient Greece, Mr. Hartland goes on to point out that to living gods like these food was a daily necessity, and savage nations, on days of festival or under stress of some great impending calamity, "would not hesitate to give human flesh to such of those gods as were carnivorous. These two factors in the history of savage religion provide the necessary explanation of the monster dragon or serpent and the devoted maiden in the Andromeda tradition. There is left, then, only the rescue incident for elucidation, and Mr. Hartland meets this by the acute suggestion that if, by the concurrence of an advance in civilization and a political revolution, the worship of an animal deity demanding the sacrifice of a human being were suppressed, he would become in tradition a deadly monster, and the milder divinity who succeeded to his place in popular regard would be credited with his conquest and destruction.
