What do Henry Tudor, Edward of Woodstock, Edward VII and Prince Charles all have in common? They’ve all held the title The Prince of Wales. This book offers a colourful and interesting stroll through the history of the title and the men who’ve held it, as well as speculating about the future of the role. Containing a chronological list of all of The Princes of Wales, the book also provides the reader with a brief description of how they lived their lives, their relationship with their subjects and, if they became the ruling Monarch, an insight into the features that characterised their reign. Discover how the Princes of Wales of history have been involved with love, infidelity, hate, deception, war and even alleged conspiracy and murder! This is the first published book to look in depth at this important aspect of British Monarchy. It is illustrated throughout with black and white photographs and forms an invaluable addition to existing literature on British Royalty.

*Includes pictures of Charles and important people, places, and events in his life. *Includes a comprehensive look at his marriage to Diana and his role in her funeral. "I think it's something that dawns on you with the most ghastly, inexorable sense. I didn't suddenly wake up in my pram one day and say 'Yippee, I -', you know. But I think it just dawns on you, you know, slowly, that people are interested in one, and slowly you get the idea that you have a certain duty and responsibility." - Prince Charles about being heir to the throne The British Royal Family is held in awe across Britain, and they have captured the interest of people around the globe. Queen Elizabeth II is respected for her stately demeanor, Prince William and his new wife, Kate Middleton, are deemed trendsetters and attract attention from media starved for gossip, and nobody has held as unique a place in pop culture as the late Diana, Princess of Wales. In the middle of it all is Charles, Prince of Wales and heir to the throne. As the firstborn son of the Queen, Charles has always been under the watchful eyes of his countrymen and the press, but his relationship with the latter and views of him among the former have long been ambivalent, especially in comparison to the other noteworthy members of his family. Hampered by his own reserved personality and his aloofness to the attention, the man who may one day be King has often been cast as the villain in the central narrative. Charles has never helped his cause by admittedly attempting to steer clear of the media's feeding frenzy, going so far as to describe the media in 2002 "awkward, cantankerous, cynical, bloody-minded, at times intrusive, at times inaccurate and at times deeply unfair and harmful to individuals and to institutions." While comments like that (at a gathering to celebrate journalism no less) are a good way to guarantee bad publicity, the negative portrayals of the Prince of Wales are mostly a result of his disastrous marriage with Diana, a media darling in life and an icon in death. His marriage to Diana and their divorce, along with his longterm affair with mistress (and current wife) Camilla Parker Bowles, remain the seminal events in his life, at least so far as interested spectators are concerned. Charles may never be able to fully overcome his past, but The British Royal Family: The Life of Charles, Prince of Wales presents a comprehensive, objective look at the life of the heir to the British throne, his relationships with his famous relatives throughout the Royal Family, his famous marriage, and his future. Along with pictures of important people, places, and events in his life, you will learn about Prince Charles like you never have before, in no time at all.

Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II has reigned for 64 years, longer than any British monarch in history. During that time the Queen has endured the ups and downs that long life will bring. She was a beacon of hope during and after the Second World War in difficult times when the world faced a precarious future, and she has served as a role model for generations of men and women who continue to be in awe of her commitment to service, sacrifice, and the Commonwealth of nations over which she rules. The abdication of her uncle, Edward VIII, in 1936 turned her family’s world upside-down. When her father was crowned King George VI, Elizabeth was thrust into the eye of the storm as a future queen. A shy and reserved child, she grew into a wise and insightful monarch who has dealt ably with nine British Prime Ministers during her long reign, from Winston Churchill to Theresa May. It was, of course, not always straightforward and the Queen has found herself in hot water several times, most notably during the marriage of Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales. When Diana was tragically killed in a car crash the standing of the Royal Family was probably at its lowest ebb. It is unlikely that we will ever see a monarch reign so long or so effectively again, holding together a disparate group of nations, each with its own aspirations, customs and traditions. Catherine Ryan has written an intriguing biography of one of the most famous women of modern times, who at 91 years old still seems fit and healthy and looks very unlikely to hand over the reins to her successors any time soon.

Edward Prince Of Wales And Aquitaine written by Richard W. Barber and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1978 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

To attempt to write a biography of Edward 'the Black Prince', a legendary paragon of chivalry, without turning first to the chronicler of chivalry par excellence, Jean Froissart, may seem self-defeating, particularly as there is so little light to be shed on the prince's character from other sources. But the classic stories of the school textbooks and romantic histories have held sway for too long without being challenged, and I have therefore tried to work outwards from accounts and 'official' chronicles to arrive at an account of Edward, prince of Wales and Aquitaine, and in particular of the group of men who were his companions-in-arms. Space and time have not allowed me to do as much work on the latter as I would have wished, but I hope that I have been able to show both the prince and his father as part of a close-knit, brilliant group of knights rather than as isolated figures, and to capture something of the prince's life as a great baron and as an almost sovereign ruler in Aquitaine. - Preface.
