A little girl prepares to make her grandmother’s favorite meal in Matt Stine's and Elisabeth Weinberg's Little Chef, an energetic picture book illustrated by Paige Kaiser... "Making excellent use of white space, Keiser employs what looks like watercolor and pen and ink to portray Lizzie in perpetual motion as she demonstrates her culinary prowess. With amazing curly hair that sometimes appears almost as big as she is, Lizzie could be a biracial child given her dad's brown skin and her mom's lighter complexion. The recipe in the backmatter will inspire young readers to follow Lizzie's fearless lead."--Kirkus, starred review

Noting that the documents pertaining to the Battle of the Little Big Horn are often garbled in editing and quoted out of context, Loyd J. Overfield set out to compile the original orders, letters, and telegrams that put a great fighting machine into motion and soon conveyed the shock of its destruction. Far more readable than today's official documents, they carry the sound of individual voices and clearly state the circumstances surrounding Custer's fall. The communications of this collection begin with Custer's successful plea to President Grant, who in a fit of pique had originally forbidden him to join his regiment in fighting the hostile Indians. A series of carefully spelled-out field orders is followed by a letter from Major Marcus Reno asking for medical aid for his wounded men after two days of fighting. Included are dispatches from Reno, Gen. Alfred H. Terry, Col. John Gibbon, Capt. Frederick Benteen, and Capt. E.W. Smith. The rosters of officers and enlisted men who fought at the Little Big Horn will be of interest to Custer buffs and historians and also to family genealogists trying to trace ancestors who made history there. Overfield has provided primary sources that amount to a detailed postmortem of events from participants only too aware that history would ask questions.

AWARD WINNING PICTURE BOOK BIOGRAPHY OF THE CHEF WHO KICKSTARTED THE FOOD TRUCK MOVEMENT. Chef Roy Choi calls himself a "street cook." He wants outsiders, low-riders, kids, teens, shufflers and skateboarders, to have food cooked with care, with love, with sohn maash. "Sohn maash" is the flavors in our fingertips. It is the love and cooking talent that Korean mothers and grandmothers mix into their handmade foods. For Chef Roy Choi, food means love. It also means culture, not only of Korea where he was born, but the many cultures that make up the streets of Los Angeles, where he was raised. So remixing food from the streets, just like good music--and serving it up from a truck--is true to L.A. food culture. People smiled and talked as they waited in line. Won't you join him as he makes good food smiles? Jacqueline Briggs Martin, author of the Caldecott Medal winner, Snowflake Bentley as well as Farmer Will Allen and the Growing Table, and Alice Waters and the Trip to Delicious continues her Food Heroes series with Chef Roy Choi on people who change what and how we eat. Big Little written by David Lovett and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-07-28 with categories.

David loves cooking for his youngest son, Lennox (he refers to them both as Len and Pa and dishes up big and little serves for them both, which is where the name of the book is inspired by). He cooks food for himself, paring it back where needed to suit his toddler's palate so they can eat together, or with the family. As a self-proclaimed nonna (Italian grandmother), David's cooking is geared towards the simple Italian cooking that everyone loves to eat, but his experience working in commercial kitchens has given him the skills to play with flavour and texture, adding creativity to his family's dishes; dishes such as a mustard and breadcrumb-crumbed cotoletta that takes five minutes to make, is a fuss-free take on crumbing pork, and with much more flavour. Plus, there is lots of pasta inspiration included. There are 101 recipes in the book which are super tasty, easy and a great way to introduce a good variety of food and flavours to toddlers, while giving them the things they (and the family) love to eat, too.
