Did Richard, Duke of York, the younger of the Princes on the Tower, survive his imprisonment? In this revealing new book medieval historian David Baldwin presents an original and intriguing scenario. On 27 December 1550 an old man named Richard Plantagenet was buried at Eastwell in Kent. He had spent much of his life working as a bricklayer at St John's Abbey, Colchester, but, unusually for a bricklayer, he could read Latin. Reluctant to give any account of his background, he eventually told his employer that he was a natural son of Richard III. Yet, if this was true, why was he not publicly acknowledged by the king? Richard III made provision for his other bastards, John of Gloucester and Katherine. The fact that he was called Richard Plantagenet is also revealing. Had he simply been Richard III's bastard, he would have been styled 'of Gloucester' or given the name of his birthplace. And, most tellingly of all, where is the evidence that Prince Richard actually died? David Baldwin opens up an entirely new line of investigation and offers a startling solution to one of the most enduring mysteries in English history and a final exoneration for Richard III.

Marco is to go as the Bearer of the Sign while The Rat goes as his Aide-de-Camp (so-named at his own request). This brings about a revolution which succeeds in overthrowing the old regime and re-establishing the rightful king. When Marco and The Rat return to London, Stefan has already left for Samavia. They wait there with his father's faithful bodyguard, Lazarus, until Stefan calls. The peculiar origins of the Tudor family and the improbable saga of their rise and fall and rise again in the centuries before the Battle of Bosworth have been largely overlooked. Based on both published and manuscript aources from Britain and France, The Making of the Tudor Dynasty sets the record straight by providing the only coherant and authoritative account of the ancestors of the Tudor royal family from their beginnings in North Wales at the start of the thirteenth century, through royal English and French connections in the fifteenth century, to Henry Tudor's victory at Bosworth Field in 1485.

The people of the palace had hidden themselves, and the place was utterly silent.

Lambert Simnel And The Battle Of Stoke written by Michael Bennett and has been published by The History Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-04-11 with History categories.

Within two years of the battle of Bosworth, Henry Tudor was forced to defend his throne against a formidable challenge mounted on behalf of a ten-year-old boy who had been crowned in Dublin as 'Edward VI'. Though presented as the last surviving Plantagenet, the young lad is generally known to history as Lambert Simnel. Lambert Simnel and the Battle of Stoke unravels the tangled web of dynastic politics and rivalries in Yorkist England, seeking a context for the bizarre events of 1487. It considers the political instability and the miasma of intrigue associated with the reign of Richard III and the first years of Henry VII. It seeks to probe the mysteries surrounding Lambert Simnel, raising questions about his identity and the roots and ramifications of the movement that centred on him. Above all, it charts the progress of the conspiracy and rebellion, from the raising of troops in the Netherlands and Ireland to the 'coronation' in Dublin in May 1487, from the invasion of northern England through to the final, bloody encounter outside the village of East Stoke, near Newark, in June. Henry's triumph in the field, the last occasion when an English king personally took to the field against a rival, marked an important stage in the development of Tudor polity. In this revised and updated edition, Professor Michael Bennett offers new information and insights on this remarkable episode in English history, seeks clarity and coherence in accounts of the fast-moving drama, re-examines old and new evidence, including misconceptions and misinformation, and addresses recent theories regarding the identity of the Dublin king.
