The love we share for entrepreneurship is a book for those of us who feel deep satisfaction when real-life problems are being solved. These are problems that affect the lives of people around us and problems that we cannot ignore. I am writing this book to showcase what we can achieve when we set up our minds for success. And what we can do when the journey gets tough. This book includes learnings from various female entrepreneurs who started social businesses in a country that became my second home over the past ten years: South Africa. It also serves as a medium for me to reflect on what I have learnt from my past life experiences while studying and working in the field of entrepreneurship education.

Why Startups Fail written by Tom Eisenmann and has been published by Currency this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-03-30 with Business & Economics categories.

If you want your startup to succeed, you need to understand why startups fail. “Whether you’re a first-time founder or looking to bring innovation into a corporate environment, Why Startups Fail is essential reading.”—Eric Ries, founder and CEO, LTSE, and New York Times bestselling author of The Lean Startup and The Startup Way Why do startups fail? That question caught Harvard Business School professor Tom Eisenmann by surprise when he realized he couldn’t answer it. So he launched a multiyear research project to find out. In Why Startups Fail, Eisenmann reveals his findings: six distinct patterns that account for the vast majority of startup failures. • Bad Bedfellows. Startup success is thought to rest largely on the founder’s talents and instincts. But the wrong team, investors, or partners can sink a venture just as quickly. • False Starts. In following the oft-cited advice to “fail fast” and to “launch before you’re ready,” founders risk wasting time and capital on the wrong solutions. • False Promises. Success with early adopters can be misleading and give founders unwarranted confidence to expand. • Speed Traps. Despite the pressure to “get big fast,” hypergrowth can spell disaster for even the most promising ventures. • Help Wanted. Rapidly scaling startups need lots of capital and talent, but they can make mistakes that leave them suddenly in short supply of both. • Cascading Miracles. Silicon Valley exhorts entrepreneurs to dream big. But the bigger the vision, the more things that can go wrong. Drawing on fascinating stories of ventures that failed to fulfill their early promise—from a home-furnishings retailer to a concierge dog-walking service, from a dating app to the inventor of a sophisticated social robot, from a fashion brand to a startup deploying a vast network of charging stations for electric vehicles—Eisenmann offers frameworks for detecting when a venture is vulnerable to these patterns, along with a wealth of strategies and tactics for avoiding them. A must-read for founders at any stage of their entrepreneurial journey, Why Startups Fail is not merely a guide to preventing failure but also a roadmap charting the path to startup success.

Why work for someone else when you can call your own shots, pursue your dreams, and find success on your terms by starting your own business? So many people end up bored with their jobs, stuck in the corporate grind, never following their true passions. As wildly successful young entrepreneur Cameron Johnson shows, you don't have to live that way. We've entered a new age of entrepreneurship, with the Web making it easier than ever to start and run your own company. As Johnson's remarkable story reveals, the entrepreneurial way of life is a great way to make sure you love what you do -- and it offers the potential to achieve extraordinary success by following your gut instincts and going for what you really want. What about the risks? Don't you need lots of money? Don't most start-ups fail? Johnson shares his essential secrets to entrepreneurial success that show you how he got into the life at very low risk, and, with very little money, took an idea that excited him and ran with it, achieving great success and satisfaction with businesses he loved. He didn't have an MBA; he didn't even have a college degree. But he had learned the simple yet vital secrets he reveals. Cameron Johnson is a seriously happy entrepreneur who started his first business when he was nine with $50 and a home computer. Before he'd turned twenty-one he'd started twelve successful businesses and was offered $10 million in venture capital to grow his hot Web company CertificateSwap.com -- praised by Entrepreneur magazine as one of the Web businesses helping the tech industry get its groove back -- even bigger. He has never taken out a loan or racked up any debt, and every one of his businesses has been highly profitable -- so profitable that he made his first million before graduating from high school, and he's put away enough cash so that he could retire today. But that's the last thing on earth he'd want to do; he's much too happy starting up new companies. Through the story of his own impressive career so far, in You Call the Shots, Johnson takes you behind the scenes of entrepreneurial success and empowers you to hit the ground running with your own great business idea, no matter how young you are or how little money you have to invest.

A Roadmap For Bootstrapping Entrepreneurs written by Donald Stern and has been published by Page Publishing Inc this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-12-28 with Business & Economics categories.

We hear every day about the flashy twenty-five-year-old wunderkinds who have hit it big in the tech world and celebrated CEOs who have flourished in public companies. But we rarely hear about the majority of successful men and women who, at the average age of forty-one, start their own company. The author was forty when he founded Homax Corporation in 1981. He is an eclectic award-winning entrepreneur who would like to share what he learned in business and life with others. He sold his company in 1996 which was thoughtfully structured to be sustainable for talented management who continued growing the company. It was purchased by PPG July 2, 2014. A ROADMAP FOR BOOTSTRAPPING ENTREPRENEURS, The Power To Control Your Future: is a book that echoes the words of St. Francis of Assisi, “Start by doing what is necessary, then what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” This story shows young entrepreneurs how to plot their course to succeed in business and life by building cultures with good character while simultaneously growing themselves. It also speaks to the middle-aged start-up entrepreneur about how to assess risk and how to focus their courage to begin. All proceeds from the book sales will be dedicated to a scholarship fund. Praise for A ROADMAP FOR BOOTSTRAPPING ENTREPRENEURS “Wow! What a book. The experiences, quotes, quick short chapters make this a must read for college business classes. This is truly spectacular. Now I know why it took so long to write. Just like your skiing, racing and business execution, everything is carefully thought out and reviewed. When you think of all the experiences woven into the book, you have to say it is one remarkable story.” James Galbreath, Managing Director NWQ investments “First of all I felt you wrote the book just for me. I learned a ton reading it. It felt like a love letter from someone who is like a dad figure. I found so many pages with valued lessons that should be incorporated in daily life and personal life as well as business life..” Ellen Rossi, BOD member Alta Ski Area “I am reading the book for the third time and continue to be amazed at what you put together in those pages. Each chapter has insights and advice for aspiring entrepreneurs that could only come from someone who has been there and done that. You have written a graduate level curriculum for entrepreneurship providing the framework for such a course at any business school. One thing that also came out was your devotion to treating people with honesty, integrity and fairness.” David Sanctuary, MBA, Continental Airlines, Director of the Boeing 757/767 flight standards and training. “Thank you for the opportunity and privilege of reviewing your book. I thoroughly enjoyed the exercise. Many things in the book resonate with me, remind me of lessons learned and lessons observed.” Mark Neporent, COO, Senior Legal Officer Cerberus Capital

How do you find the right manufacturer so that you do not get swindled? How do you find the right developer? How do you actually find customers? What happens if you fail and do not find a job again? #1 Amazon Best Seller in Entrepreneurship, Startups, Innovation, and Christian Business categories This book is for anyone who has ever dreamed of starting something. Thinking about starting your own company? Curious about what startup life is really like? Looking to commiserate over the brutality that is the road called entrepreneurship? This book is for you. In Startup Stories, serial entrepreneur Jordan Raynor gives an honest look at what it takes to launch a company, grind through startup life, and grow a business from the ground up. Using stories from his most recent endeavor (Citizinvestor – the largest crowdfunding platform for government projects in the U.S., currently valued at $3,500,000), Jordan shares a series of lessons that are critical for any entrepreneur to learn. In this short book, you'll hear Jordan share stories about: How he met his "startup spouse" and learned what makes a great business partnership Why his team wrote stories about their product before registering a domain name or hiring a developer Raising capital from Silicon Valley and friends and family The wild emotional roller coaster ride startups put you through How he gets meetings with amazing people simply by having the audacity to ask How to be content regardless of the success or failure of your startup This won't feel like another “how to” book. Raynor's casual style will make you feel as if the two of you are swapping stories over your favorite cup of coffee. If you've ever been interested in starting something, you'll want to start reading Startup Stories today. An excerpt from Startup Stories: In a few minutes, I was to take the stage following an amazing “fireside chat” with Chris Hughes, a Co-founder of Facebook and the leader of the Obama campaign's historic “My Barack Obama” social network. If that wasn't cool enough, the rest of the lineup of speakers at the event included the CEOs of The New York Times, The Guardian, and Tumblr; the CTO of Amazon.com; a General Partner of Andreessen Horowitz, and a former United States Senator. And then there was me, Jordan Raynor, a Co- founder of a company no one could properly pronounce. To say I was out of my league would be an epic understatement. As a friend of mine said to me a few days before the speech, “Dude, I think you're great and all, but you have no business being on that stage.” My friend was right. So how did this happen? Mostly through grace. In my short career as an entrepreneur, I have been blessed immeasurably with amazing opportunities I did not earn or deserve. But as I inched closer to the edge of my seat, ready to charge the podium, I couldn't help but think that one of the reasons I was there was because the team at our young startup had decided to solve a real problem. By focusing on a problem of such great importance, we have gained access to more amazing people and opportunities in two years than most people get in a lifetime. We have been invited to The White House to talk about what implications crowdfunding might have on the federal government; we were featured alongside a movie with Matt Damon; we were flown to France to address the Council of Europe; we had tea with the Lieutenant Governor of California. Even if Citizinvestor were to fail, the experiences we have had along the way would have made it all worthwhile. I believe these experiences are a direct result of us tackling a significant problem.
