Book 4 begins with Angel being presented in court to King Edward. During a visit back to her time, she is involved in stopping a dirty bomb plot in London. Use of the Time Door creates an energy surge that has NASA puzzled. Events lead to Angel revealing the existence of the alien she and the Clan are hosting, to the President of America. This part of her adventure ends with her and Duke Pendle setting off to journey down to London from York, and having to deal with an army blocking their way....The Duke gave instructions to his men to hold fast where they were. He and Angel walked their horses forward. When they were about four hundred yards from the opposing army, they stopped. A group of three armoured knights trotted forward to meet them. Watching the advancing knights, she drew the Glock, cocked it and let her arm dangle down. The mounted knights advanced until the gap between them was no more than ten feet. The knights' shields, which each had slung to the left of their saddles, bore their colours. "Earl Coullson, and Sir Hingston, and that third with you I would guess to be Sir Henry de Beauchamp. What makes this army in my path?" the Duke asked, in a stern voice. All three knights looked askance at the long shape of the machine gun resting in the Duke's lap. "Good morrow to you, Duke Pendle. We have no quarrel with you, my Lord, unless you seek to push past us. However, this woman here must come with us for trial. I have received word that she assaulted and falsely imprisoned three knights, using black arts which showed her to be a witch." Earl Coullson said. Bryan smiled broadly. "Aye, she kicked their arses for them, no question, but it was soldierly skills, not magic, that felled them. This is the Lady Angel. One of the three fellows, I take him for the spokesman, though he did not identify himself, called her a whore. When she knocked him down, the other two sought to draw their swords and were similarly knocked to the ground. Now, leaving that matter aside, I am summoned by the King and must go to London. Give me leave to pass with the Lady here, and my men, and we have no quarrel." "That, I regret, I cannot permit. If you wish to stay and speak on her behalf at the Lady's trial, I will provide you and your men with all proper accommodation. I will require you to lay down your arms, however." "Give up my sword? To you, whom I laid low at the Oxford tourney two years back? I don't think so," the Duke said. "For the last time, hand over the Lady and turn back," the Earl said, his impatience clear in his voice. Angel brought her gun hand up, showing the Glock. "Bryan, you'll want to steady Thunder, this is going to be loud." "So, she calls you by your given name, Duke Pendle? Have you no shame, to take your whore to see the King?" The speaker was the third knight, whom the Duke had named as de Beauchamp. Angel shot him through the left elbow. The report echoed across the plain like a thunderclap. Bits of chain mail and flesh went flying in a spray of blood. All three of the knights' horses reared and pranced. While the horses were still bucking wildly, Angel put three shots through de Beauchamp's helmet, blowing it and much of his head off his shoulders. His body fell sideways off his horse. Regaining some control of their mounts, Earl Coullson, and Sir Hingston turned their horses and made to gallop back to their army. Angel shot both men in the back, knocking them off their horses. Bryan stared at her in shock. "I'm getting a little annoyed at being called a whore, Bryan. Give me that bloody machine gun," she said, holstering the Glock...
