The Mie Theory written by Wolfram Hergert and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-06-30 with Science categories.

This book presents in a concise way the Mie theory and its current applications. It begins with an overview of current theories, computational methods, experimental techniques, and applications of optics of small particles. There is also some biographic information on Gustav Mie, who published his famous paper on the colour of Gold colloids in 1908. The Mie solution for the light scattering of small spherical particles set the basis for more advanced scattering theories and today there are many methods to calculate light scattering and absorption for practically any shape and composition of particles. The optics of small particles is of interest in industrial, atmospheric, astronomic and other research. The book covers the latest developments in divers fields in scattering theory such as plasmon resonance, multiple scattering and optical force.

ANTENNA AND EM MODELING WITH MATLAB ANTENNA TOOLBOX™ An essential text to MATLAB Antenna Toolbox™ as accessible and easy-to-use full-wave antenna modeling tool Antenna and EM Modeling with MATLAB Antenna Toolbox™ is a textbook on antennas intended for a one semester course. The core philosophy is to introduce the key antenna concepts and follow them up with full-wave modeling and optimization in the MATLAB Antenna Toolbox™. Such an approach will enable immediate testing of theoretical concepts by experimenting in software. It also provides the direct path to research work. The fundamental families of antennas — dipoles, loops, patches, and traveling wave antennas — are discussed in detail, together with the respective antenna arrays. Using antenna parameters such as impedance, reflection coefficient, efficiency, directivity, and gain, the reader is introduced to the different ways of understanding the performance of an antenna. Written for senior undergraduates, graduates as well as RF/Antenna engineers, Antenna and EM Modeling with Antenna Toolbox™ is a resource that: Provides 14 video assisted laboratories on using Antenna Toolbox™ Includes approximately 50 real-world examples in antenna and array design Offers approximately 200 homework problems Provides multiple ready-to-use standalone MATLAB® scripts

Light The Physics Of The Photon written by Ole Keller and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-06-17 with Science categories.

From the early wave-particle arguments to the mathematical theory of electromagnetism to Einstein’s work on the quantization of light, different descriptions of what constitutes light have existed for over 300 years. Light – The Physics of the Photon examines the photon phenomenon from several perspectives. It demonstrates the importance of studying the photon as a concept belonging to a global vacuum (matter-free space). Divided into eight parts, the book begins with exploring aspects of classical optics in a global vacuum on the basis of free-space Maxwell equations. It then describes light rays and geodesics and presents a brief account of the Maxwell theory in general relativity. After discussing the theory of photon wave mechanics, the author gives a field-quantized description of the electromagnetic field, emphasizing single-photon quantum optics in Minkowskian space. He next focuses on photon physics in the rim zone of matter, paying particular attention to photon emission processes. He also takes a closer look at the photon source domain and field propagators, which conveniently describe the photon field propagation in the vicinity of and far from the electronic source domain. The last two parts discuss the photon vacuum and light quanta in Minkowskian space as well as two-photon entanglement, which is associated with the biphoton in space-time.

A Trajectory Description Of Quantum Processes I Fundamentals written by Ángel S. Sanz and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-03-27 with Science categories.

Trajectory-based formalisms are an intuitively appealing way of describing quantum processes because they allow the use of "classical" concepts. Beginning at an introductory level suitable for students, this two-volume monograph presents (1) the fundamentals and (2) the applications of the trajectory description of basic quantum processes. This first volume is focussed on the classical and quantum background necessary to understand the fundamentals of Bohmian mechanics, which can be considered the main topic of this work. Extensions of the formalism to the fields of open quantum systems and to optics are also proposed and discussed.

Providing geophysicists with an in-depth understanding of the theoretical and applied background for the seismic diffraction method, “Classical and Modern Diffraction Theory” covers the history and foundations of the classical theory and the key elements of the modern diffraction theory. Chapters include an overview and a historical review of classical theory, a summary of the experimental results illustrating this theory, and key principles of the modern theory of diffraction; the early cornerstones of classical diffraction theory, starting from its inception in the 17th century and an extensive introduction to reprinted works of Grimaldi, Huygens, and Young; details of the classical theory of diffractions as developed in the 19th century and reprinted works of Fresnel, Green, Helmholtz, Kirchhoff, and Rayleigh; and the cornerstones of the modern theory including Keller’s geometrical theory of diffraction, boundary-layer theory, and super-resolution. Appendices on the Cornu spiral and Babinet’s principle are also included.
