This is a concise book that introduces students to the basics of logical thinking and important mathematical structures that are critical for a solid understanding of logical formalisms themselves as well as for building the necessary background to tackle other fields that are based on these logical principles. Despite its compact and small size, it includes many solved problems and quite a few end-of-section exercises that will help readers consolidate their understanding of the material. This textbook is essential reading for anyone interested in the logical foundations of Informatics, Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and other related areas. Written with undergraduate students in these disciplines in mind, this book can very well serve the needs of interested and curious readers who wish to get a grasp of the logical principles upon which these fields are built. This book does not require readers to possess math skills beyond those learned in high school.

How many ways do exist to mix different ingredients, how many chances to win a gambling game, how many possible paths going from one place to another in a network ? To this kind of questions Mathematics applied to computer gives a stimulating and exhaustive answer. This text, presented in three parts (Combinatorics, Probability, Graphs) addresses all those who wish to acquire basic or advanced knowledge in combinatorial theories. It is actually also used as a textbook. Basic and advanced theoretical elements are presented through simple applications like the Sudoku game, search engine algorithm and other easy to grasp applications. Through the progression from simple to complex, the teacher acquires knowledge of the state of the art of combinatorial theory. The non conventional simultaneous presentation of algorithms, programs and theory permits a powerful mixture of theory and practice. All in all, the originality of this approach gives a refreshing view on combinatorial theory.

Mathematical Aspects Of Logic Programming Semantics written by Pascal Hitzler and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-04-19 with Computers categories.

Covering the authors' own state-of-the-art research results, this book presents a rigorous, modern account of the mathematical methods and tools required for the semantic analysis of logic programs. It significantly extends the tools and methods from traditional order theory to include nonconventional methods from mathematical analysis that depend on topology, domain theory, generalized distance functions, and associated fixed-point theory. The authors closely examine the interrelationships between various semantics as well as the integration of logic programming and connectionist systems/neural networks.

The authors of this Festschrift prepared these papers to honour and express their friendship to Klaus Ritter on the occasion of his sixtieth birthday. Be cause of Ritter's many friends and his international reputation among math ematicians, finding contributors was easy. In fact, constraints on the size of the book required us to limit the number of papers. Klaus Ritter has done important work in a variety of areas, especially in var ious applications of linear and nonlinear optimization and also in connection with statistics and parallel computing. For the latter we have to mention Rit ter's development of transputer workstation hardware. The wide scope of his research is reflected by the breadth of the contributions in this Festschrift. After several years of scientific research in the U.S., Klaus Ritter was ap pointed as full professor at the University of Stuttgart. Since then, his name has become inextricably connected with the regularly scheduled conferences on optimization in Oberwolfach. In 1981 he became full professor of Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics at the Technical University of Mu nich. In addition to his university teaching duties, he has made the activity of applying mathematical methods to problems of industry to be centrally important.
