Born out of 15 years of courses and lectures on continuum mechanics, nonlinear mechanics, continuum thermodynamics, viscoelasticity, plasticity, crystal plasticity, and thermodynamic plasticity, The Mechanical and Thermodynamical Theory of Plasticity represents one of the most extensive and in-depth treatises on the mechanical and thermodynamical aspects of plastic and visicoplastic flow. Suitable for student readers and experts alike, it offers a clear and comprehensive presentation of multi-dimensional continuum thermodynamics to both aid in initial understanding and introduce and explore advanced topics. Covering a wide range of foundational subjects and presenting unique insights into the unification of disparate theories and practices, this book offers an extensive number of problems, figures, and examples to help the reader grasp the subject from many levels. Starting from one-dimensional axial motion in bars, the book builds a clear understanding of mechanics and continuum thermodynamics during plastic flow. This approach makes it accessible and applicable for a varied audience, including students and experts from engineering mechanics, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, and materials science.

Plasticity Theory written by Jacob Lubliner and has been published by Courier Corporation this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-04-22 with Technology & Engineering categories.

The aim of Plasticity Theory is to provide a comprehensive introduction to the contemporary state of knowledge in basic plasticity theory and to its applications. It treats several areas not commonly found between the covers of a single book: the physics of plasticity, constitutive theory, dynamic plasticity, large-deformation plasticity, and numerical methods, in addition to a representative survey of problems treated by classical methods, such as elastic-plastic problems, plane plastic flow, and limit analysis; the problem discussed come from areas of interest to mechanical, structural, and geotechnical engineers, metallurgists and others. The necessary mathematics and basic mechanics and thermodynamics are covered in an introductory chapter, making the book a self-contained text suitable for advanced undergraduates and graduate students, as well as a reference for practitioners of solid mechanics.

Foundations Of Elastoplasticity Subloading Surface Model written by Koichi Hashiguchi and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-06-12 with Science categories.

This book is the standard text book for elastoplasticity/viscoplasticity which is explained comprehensively covering the rate-independent to -dependent finite deformations of metals, soils, polymers, crystal plasticity, etc. and the friction phenomenon. Concise explanations on vector-tensor analysis and continuum mechanics are provided first, covering the underlying physical concepts, e.g. various time-derivatives, pull-back and push-forward operations, work-conjugacy and multiplicative decomposition of deformation gradient tensor. Then, the rigorous elastoplastic/viscoplastic model, called the subloading surface model, is explained comprehensively, which is based on the subloading surface concept to describe the continuous development of the plastic/viscoplastic strain rate as the stress approaches to the yield surface, while it can never be described by the other plasticity models, e.g. the Chaboche-Ohno and the Dafalias-Yoshida models assuming the purely-elastic domain. The main features of the subloading surface model are as follows: 1) The subloading surface concept underling the cyclic plasticity is introduced, which insists that the plastic deformation develops as the stress approaches the yield surface. Thus, the smooth elastic-plastic transition leading to the continuous variation of the tangent stiffness modulus is described always. 2) The subloading-overstress model is formulated by which the elastoplastic deformation during the quasi-static loading and the viscoplastic deformation during the dynamic and impact loading can be described by the unified equation. Then, only this model can be used to describe the deformation in the general rate of deformation, disusing the elastoplastic constitutive equation. 3) The hyperelastic-based (visco)plasticity based on the multiplicative decomposition of deformation gradient tensor and the subloading surface model is formulated for the exact descriptions of the finite elastic and (visco)plastic deformations. 4) The subloading-friction model is formulated for the exact description of the dry and the fluid (lubricated) frictions at the general rate of sliding from the static to the impact sliding. Thus, all the elastic and inelastic deformation/sliding phenomena of solids can be described accurately in the unified equation by the subloading-overstress model. The subloading surface model will be engraved as the governing law of irreversible deformation of solids in the history of solid mechanics.

Modeling And Design Of Flexible Pavements And Materials written by Dallas N. Little and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-09-25 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This textbook lays out the state of the art for modeling of asphalt concrete as the major structural component of flexible pavements. The text adopts a pedagogy in which a scientific approach, based on materials science and continuum mechanics, predicts the performance of any configuration of flexible roadways subjected to cyclic loadings. The authors incorporate state-of the-art computational mechanics to predict the evolution of material properties, stresses and strains, and roadway deterioration. Designed specifically for both students and practitioners, the book presents fundamentally complex concepts in a clear and concise way that aids the roadway design community to assimilate the tools for designing sustainable roadways using both traditional and innovative technologies.

This book presents an introduction to material theory and, in particular, to elasticity, plasticity and viscoelasticity, to bring the reader close to the frontiers of today’s knowledge in these particular fields. It starts right from the beginning without assuming much knowledge of the subject. Hence, the book is generally comprehensible to all engineers, physicists, mathematicians, and others. At the beginning of each new section, a brief Comment on the Literature contains recommendations for further reading. This book includes an updated reference list and over 100 changes throughout the book. It contains the latest knowledge on the subject. Two new chapters have been added in this new edition. Now finite viscoelasticity is included, and an Essay on gradient materials, which have recently drawn much attention.
