Since the eighteenth century, scholars and historians studying the texts of the Bible have attempted to distil historical facts and biography from the mythology and miracles described there. That trend continues into the present day, as scholars dissect the gospels and other early Christian writings to seperate the 'Jesus of history' from the 'Christ of faith'. But in The Messiah Myth Thomas L. Thompson argues that the quest for the historical Jesus is beside the point, since the Jesus of the gospels never existed. Like King David before him, the Jesus of the Bible is an amalgamation of themes from Near Eastern mythology and traditions of kingship and divinity. The theme of a messiah - a divinely appointed king who restores the world to perfection - is typical of Egyptian and Babylonian royal ideology dating back to the Bronze Age. In Thompson's view, the contemporary audience for whom the Old and New Testament were written would naturally have interpreted David and Jesus not as historical figures , but as metaphors embodying long-established messianic traditions. Challenging widely held assumptions about the sources of the Bible and the quest for the historical Jesus, The Messiah Myth is sure to spark controversy and heated debate among believers and sceptics alike.

This new study is original in that, written by a person who is thoroughly familiar with the Judeo-Christian messianic tradition, it seeks to do justice to the strong religious thread that runs through all of Zola's work. In addition, Dr. Evenhuis's experience in the psychoanalytical approach to literature allows him to venture into intriguing speculations involving Zola's conscious or unconscious use of symbolism: the reader is invited to read between the lines of Zola's text in order to gain deeper insights into the author's inner world. Essentially, Messiah or Antichrist? examines the factors that may have induced Zola to embrace the messianic vision, and then systematically traces the rejection and eventual readopting of that myth in prose works that span a period of some forty years.

Return of the Serpents of Wisdom and Conversations With the Goddess author Pinkham tells us the Truth Behind the Christ Myth and presents radically new information regarding Jesus Christ and his ancient legend, includes: The legend of Jesus Christ is based on a much earlier Son of God myth from India, the legend of Murrugan, the Peacock Angel; The symbol of the Catholic Church is Murrugan's symbol, the peacock, a bird native to south-east Asia; Murrugan evolved into the Persian Mithras, and Mithras evolved into Jesus Christ Saint Paul came from Tarsus, the centre of Mithras worship in Asia Minor. He amalgamated the legend of the Persian Son of God onto Jesus' life story; The Three Wise Men were Magi priests from Persia who believed that Jesus was an incarnation of Mithras; While in India, Saint Thomas became a peacock before he died and merged with Murrugan, the Peacock Angel; The Emperor Constantine, the first 'Christian' Emperor of the Roman Empire, was a lifelong devotee of Mithras. He was baptised Christian on his deathbed; The myth of the One and Only Son of God originated with Murrugan and Mithras.

Did Jesus Really Exist? The search for the historical Jesus continues to be headline news. Any speculative theory seems to get instant attention as the debate rages about His real identity and the claims made in His name. Did Jesus really exist? Is there real historical evidence that demonstrates that He lived and actually said and did the things the Gospels record? Is there any validity to the speculative claims that the Jesus story was a myth, borrowed from a variety of pagan cultures of the ancient world? In this follow-up to the book God’s Not Dead (that inspired the movie), Man, Myth, Messiah looks at the evidence for the historical Jesus and exposes the notions of skeptics that Jesus was a contrived figure of ancient mythology. It also looks at the reliability of the Gospel records as well as the evidence for the resurrection that validates His identity as the promised Messiah. Man, Myth, Messiah will be released concurrent to the God’s Not Dead movie sequel, which will cover the same theme.

Jesus God Man Or Myth written by Herbert Cutner and has been published by Book Tree this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2000 with Body, Mind & Spirit categories.

Did pagan mythologies represent Christs miracles in order to convince them to accept the Christian faith? Beyond these miracles is there enough evidence to prove there was a Jesus? Cutner says no. He also says that the Apostle Paul never portrayed Jesus as a man, but as a spiritual being. To Paul, Christ is found in a spiritual sense within oneself, as opposed to being an actual historical personage. When the Church accepted Paul, this inner reflection was outwardly projected by the Church into an actual mana saviour, according to Cutner. This might be why Paul was almost rejected by the Churchhis views posed a danger to those who might rely on their own spiritual knowledge, rather than the authority of the Church. Whether Jesus lived or not, we still have a lot to learn about ourselves and our true place in the universe. This book, although critical, may be useful in that respect.

Excerpt from Jewish Mythology, or the Coming of the Messiah Letter-signs were understood to be astronomically significant; which meant that the history of individuals and nations was written in the heavens, and that the fulfilment was all experienced on time, as those letter-signs came to earth by divisions of time, and applied to names of things on the surface of the earth. Letters, and figures designating numbers, were understood as having bearings on the heavens by law of quadrature. This gave all points of the compass and gravitation. On these bear ings, all letters, syllables, words, and compounds had, first, an earthly meaning which bear on their bodily lives. Then, by vowels and division by puns, the same vocal music accompanied them on as souls into the realms of the future, where the same signs were used but the pronunciation lost to earthly articulation. This arrangement of language in space, with the bearings given, was the Temple of the Jews. T ms was the way it was built without the sound of hammer. This temple was destroyed again and again, as the people of the Jewish nation refused to accept it, or, through ignorance, could not see anything in it. The man who built the temple for the Jews was understood to be the Messiah, without any regard to his name. The names were different at different epochs of time, because the heavenly sheet of sign arrangement, slowly revolving all the time, brought it about.
