This volume contains a re-edition of Max Koecher's famous Minnesota Notes. The main objects are homogeneous, but not necessarily convex, cones. They are described in terms of Jordan algebras. The central point is a correspondence between semisimple real Jordan algebras and so-called omega-domains. This leads to a construction of half-spaces which give an essential part of all bounded symmetric domains. The theory is presented in a concise manner, with only elementary prerequisites. The editors have added notes on each chapter containing an account of the relevant developments of the theory since these notes were first written.

Lie Theory And Its Applications In Physics written by Vladimir Dobrev and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-10-15 with Science categories.

This volume presents modern trends in the area of symmetries and their applications based on contributions to the workshop "Lie Theory and Its Applications in Physics" held near Varna (Bulgaria) in June 2019. Traditionally, Lie theory is a tool to build mathematical models for physical systems. Recently, the trend is towards geometrization of the mathematical description of physical systems and objects. A geometric approach to a system yields in general some notion of symmetry, which is very helpful in understanding its structure. Geometrization and symmetries are meant in their widest sense, i.e., representation theory, algebraic geometry, number theory, infinite-dimensional Lie algebras and groups, superalgebras and supergroups, groups and quantum groups, noncommutative geometry, symmetries of linear and nonlinear partial differential operators, special functions, and others. Furthermore, the necessary tools from functional analysis are included. This is a large interdisciplinary and interrelated field. The topics covered in this volume from the workshop represent the most modern trends in the field : Representation Theory, Symmetries in String Theories, Symmetries in Gravity Theories, Supergravity, Conformal Field Theory, Integrable Systems, Polylogarithms, and Supersymmetry. They also include Supersymmetric Calogero-type models, Quantum Groups, Deformations, Quantum Computing and Deep Learning, Entanglement, Applications to Quantum Theory, and Exceptional Quantum Algebra for the standard model of particle physics This book is suitable for a broad audience of mathematicians, mathematical physicists, and theoretical physicists, including researchers and graduate students interested in Lie Theory.

The Lace Expansion And Its Applications written by Gordon Slade and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-05-17 with Mathematics categories.

The lace expansion is a powerful and flexible method for understanding the critical scaling of several models of interest in probability, statistical mechanics, and combinatorics, above their upper critical dimensions. These models include the self-avoiding walk, lattice trees and lattice animals, percolation, oriented percolation, and the contact process. This volume provides a unified and extensive overview of the lace expansion and its applications to these models.

Monomialization Of Morphisms From 3 Folds To Surfaces written by Steven D. Cutkosky and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-10-13 with Mathematics categories.

A morphism of algebraic varieties (over a field characteristic 0) is monomial if it can locally be represented in e'tale neighborhoods by a pure monomial mappings. The book gives proof that a dominant morphism from a nonsingular 3-fold X to a surface S can be monomialized by performing sequences of blowups of nonsingular subvarieties of X and S. The construction is very explicit and uses techniques from resolution of singularities. A research monograph in algebraic geometry, it addresses researchers and graduate students.

Big Queues written by Ayalvadi J. Ganesh and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-01-28 with Mathematics categories.

Big Queues aims to give a simple and elegant account of how large deviations theory can be applied to queueing problems. Large deviations theory is a collection of powerful results and general techniques for studying rare events, and has been applied to queueing problems in a variety of ways. The strengths of large deviations theory are these: it is powerful enough that one can answer many questions which are hard to answer otherwise, and it is general enough that one can draw broad conclusions without relying on special case calculations.

Noncommutative Geometry written by Alain Connes and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003-12-08 with Mathematics categories.

Noncommutative Geometry is one of the most deep and vital research subjects of present-day Mathematics. Its development, mainly due to Alain Connes, is providing an increasing number of applications and deeper insights for instance in Foliations, K-Theory, Index Theory, Number Theory but also in Quantum Physics of elementary particles. The purpose of the Summer School in Martina Franca was to offer a fresh invitation to the subject and closely related topics; the contributions in this volume include the four main lectures, cover advanced developments and are delivered by prominent specialists.

Selected Preserver Problems On Algebraic Structures Of Linear Operators And On Function Spaces written by L. Molnár and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-11-15 with Mathematics categories.

The territory of preserver problems has grown continuously within linear analysis. This book presents a cross-section of the modern theory of preservers on infinite dimensional spaces (operator spaces and function spaces) through the author's corresponding results. Special emphasis is placed on preserver problems concerning some structures of Hilbert space operators which appear in quantum mechanics. In addition, local automorphisms and local isometries of operator algebras and function algebras are discussed in detail.
