The Miracles Of Right Thought written by Orison Swett Marden and has been published by Musaicum Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-07-06 with Self-Help categories.

In words of the author this book teaches us the importance of having the 'right' thoughts about ourselves. It teaches that we should strangle every idea of deficiency, imperfection, or inferiority, and however much our apparent conditions of discord, weaknesses, poverty, and ill-health may seem to contradict, cling tenaciously to our vision of perfection. A positive outlook certainly goes a long way in overcoming fear and being happy. Spread over fifteen chapters and a conversational way of writing, it would surely interest those who are looking for a well-rounded, successful life. Dr. Orison Swett Marden (1848-1924) was an American inspirational author who wrote about achieving success in life and founded SUCCESS magazine in 1897. He is often considered as the father of the modern-day inspirational talks and writings and his words make sense even to this day. In his books he discussed the common-sense principles and virtues that make for a well-rounded, successful life. Excerpt: “What we yearn for, earnestly desire and strive to bring about, tends to become a reality. Our ideals are the foreshadowing outlines of realities behind them—the substance of the things hoped for.”

The Cloud Sign Miracle tells the true story of a miraculous answer to a prayer for direction in the authors life at a time of substantial indecision and anxiety. Included in the book are some photographs taken at the beach that happened to capture images appearing to be miraculous. Also included is a testimony of growth in faith and understanding of Gods love and presence with us human beings here on Gods planet, and that God indeed still answers prayerseven in this modern ageas God promised in His Holy Bible, thousands of years ago. Ive known David Blanco for well over 50 years. His distinguished career as the head of a significant Law Firm establishes his credentials. More than that, however, David is a man of faith. God is forever speaking to His creation but most of us miss the communication. We have allowed the world to stuff us into the left side of our brains so that we tend to measure truth only in terms of height, width, depth, time and motion. There is far more reality out there beyond the senses than within the senses, and David bears witness to this in this life changing story. This book can heighten your own awareness of a God who loves you and who wants to speak to you in so many ways. Robert G. Tuttle, Jr. Ph.D. Emeritus Professor of World Christianity Asbury Theological Seminary

Miracles An Exercise In Comparative Philosophy Of Religion written by Karen R. Zwier and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-11-03 with Philosophy categories.

This volume provides a comparative philosophical investigation into a particular concept from a variety of angles—in this case, the concept of “miracle.” The text covers deeply philosophical questions around the miracle, with a multiplicity of answers. Each chapter brings its own focus to this multifaceted effort. The volume rejects the primarily western focus that typically dominates philosophy of religion and is filled with particular examples of miracle narratives, community responses, and polemical scenarios across widely varying religious contexts and historical periods. Some of these examples defy religious categorization, and some papers challenge the applicability of the concept “miracle,” which is of western and monotheistic origin. By examining miracles thru a wide comparative context, this text presents a range of descriptive content and analysis, with attention to the audience, to the subjective experiences being communicated, and to the flavor of the narratives that come to surround miracles. This book appeals to students and researchers working in philosophy of religion and science, as well those in comparative religion. It represents, in written form, some of the perspectives and dialogue achieved in The Comparison Project’s 2017–2019 lecture series on miracles. The Comparison Project is an enterprise in comparing a variety of religious voices, allowing them to stand in dialogue.

Vision Of Fatima written by Fr. Thomas McGlynn and has been published by Sophia Institute Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-04-20 with Religion categories.

Here’s the first-hand account of the Dominican priest and sculptor who worked under the direction of Sr. Lucia — the last surviving witness to the 1917 Marian apparitions in Fatima — as she guided him in perfecting the famed statue of Our Lady of Fatima. Sr. Lucia insisted Our Lady’s hands be positioned just so, the tunic fall exactly the way she remembered, the star placed on the proper spot on the tunic, and the ball of light around her neck reaching almost to her waist. She would make corrections as Fr. Tom worked, and at times would even take one of the tools and make changes to his model. Fr. Tom emerged with far more than an exact replica of how Our Lady appeared; he came to understand — and recounts here in these pages — Sr. Lucia’s intimate explanations of what happened in Fatima, the spiritual meanings of the apparitions, whether the Consecration to Russia occurred, why the secrets had to remain secrets for so long, and why Mary chose to appear to three young shepherd children in rural Portugal. Fr. Tom reminds us that Fatima is a place of miracles, and he points us toward the penitential character of Our Lady’s message, especially the importance of praying the Rosary. Few books can provide such a penetrating, close encounter with a major Catholic event as Fr. McGlynn’s Vision of Fatima. And only this book leads us into the heart and mind of a Portuguese nun who met face to face with the Mother of God.

Pillars Of Cloud And Fire written by Herbert Robinson Marbury and has been published by NYU Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-04-03 with Social Science categories.

At the birth of the United States, African Americans were excluded from the newly-formed Republic and its churches, which saw them as savage rather than citizen and as heathen rather than Christian. Denied civil access to the basic rights granted to others, African Americans have developed their own sacred traditions and their own civil discourses. As part of this effort, African American intellectuals offered interpretations of the Bible which were radically different and often fundamentally oppositional to those of many of their white counterparts. By imagining a freedom unconstrained, their work charted a broader and, perhaps, a more genuinely American identity. In Pillars of Cloud and Fire, Herbert Robinson Marbury offers a comprehensive survey of African American biblical interpretation. Each chapter in this compelling volume moves chronologically, from the antebellum period and the Civil War through to the Harlem Renaissance, the civil rights movement, the black power movement, and the Obama era, to offer a historical context for the interpretative activity of that time and to analyze its effect in transforming black social reality. For African American thinkers such as Absalom Jones, David Walker, Zora Neale Hurston, Frances E. W. Harper, Adam Clayton Powell, and Martin Luther King, Jr., the exodus story became the language-world through which freedom both in its sacred resonance and its civil formation found expression. This tradition, Marbury argues, has much to teach us in a world where fundamentalisms have become synonymous with “authentic” religious expression and American identity. For African American biblical interpreters, to be American and to be Christian was always to be open and oriented toward freedom.

Our Universe written by Faiz M. Khan and has been published by iUniverse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-07-19 with Science categories.

Did God create life, or did the world spontaneously appear? Drawing on meticulous research into the scientific and religious realms, Our Universe is a detailed study of the origin of the universe, life on Earth, and the destiny of mankind. Biophysics professor Faiz M. Khan combines both faith and science to present a balanced overview of a highly controversial topic. Khan explores the scientific analysis of creation with knowledge-based dialogue about the most modern scientific thought on the beginnings of the universe, cosmic evolution, and biologic evolution; and he contrasts these with the creationist view held by the world's major religions. Concise and compelling, Our Universe provides an unbiased and comprehensive view of some of philosophy's most debated topics and serves as a thoughtful springboard for further discussion. Khan's discourse also reflects one man's painstaking quest for an answer to a fundamental question at the very core of our existence.
