One game of cricket. Five all-time greats. A battle for the ages. Greg Chappell, Viv Richards, Jeff Thomson, Rod Marsh and Dennis Lillee – the best of the best in international cricket in the 1970s. Imagine a match that pitted them against each other; imagine The Miracle Match. In 1976, Western Australia took on Queensland in a one-day domestic at the WACA Ground – it would come to be known as The Miracle Match. The stakes were high: a chance to play in the final of Australia’s one-day competition. Western Australia, the first team to bat, was out for just 77 runs. Defeat seemed a certainty, but what happened next had the crowd of 10,000 on the edges of their seats. “Make ‘em fight for it, be buggered ... we’re going to beat these bastards!” said Western Australia’s demon fast-bowler Dennis Lillee, before spearheading an attack that claimed Viv Richards and Greg Chappell for just two runs between them. Author Ian Brayshaw, a player in The Miracle Match, takes us through one of the most electric games in Australian cricket history and gives us a fascinating insight into the careers of some of cricket’s most successful and influential players. The Miracle Match, a nostalgic look at international cricket in the 1970s, will enthral cricket fans young and old.

Imagine five of the world's greatest players lining up for a domestic one-day game at the WACA Ground in Perth in December, 1976. Then, imagine the team that bats first being bowled out for just 77 runs. Finally, let your imagination take you through what was a devastatingly effective spell by fastbowling great Dennis Lillee leading his team to what appeared to be an unwinnable victory - having claimed Viv Richards and Greg Chappell for just two runs between them! "Make 'em fight for it, be buggered a we're going to beat these bastards!" - Dennis Lillee said before going out to spearhead the 'impossible' win. Such a feat has never been repeated since in domestic first-class cricket. Years later Viv Richards' commented, "Do I remember that game? It's never far from the mind, man." Through one electric game -unsurprisingly dubbed 'The Miracle Match' -, which he himself took part in, author Ian Brayshaw tells the story of some of the greatest players of Australian and international cricket in the 1970s. The Miracle Match is a nostalgic look at the game in a bygone era that will touch the hearts of cricket fans young and old.

"Dr. Colomer asked if I wanted the details or just an overview. I wanted everything. He took a deep breath and explained that the next twelve hours were critical. If the progression of infiltrates didn't turn around soon, it probably never would. Those were hard words to hear." It's true what they say about second chances. Just ask Paul and Sharon. Their marriage provided the love and respect they had always longed for, but that's not all. They also discovered strength, wisdom, and a unity that few couples possess. They now share a kidney. This book walks readers through Paul and Sharon's roller-coaster life adventures -- all with the help of God's miraculous intervention, family, friends, faith, and prayer. If you or a loved one has experienced catastrophic health issues, you know the dilemma in which Paul and Sharon found themselves, time and again. Paul's liver transplant, and later kidney failure, catapulted them toward a search for a matching kidney. Because of life-preserving hemodialysis, kidney transplantation is often avoided, even though the kidney is ideally suited for "sharing". Convinced that she was compatible, Sharon discovered that she was, indeed, Paul's perfect partner. Miracle Match declares the miraculous account of God's faithfulness, blessing, and provision.

But Dennis Lillee is also a committed family man, a proud Aussie and a good mate to his many friends. Now a distinguished coach, in huge demand around the world, this book shows just why he remains one of cricket's enduring and most popular legends.

Fundamental Causation written by Christopher Gregory Weaver and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-08-06 with Philosophy categories.

Fundamental Causation addresses issues in the metaphysics of deterministic singular causation, the metaphysics of events, property instances, facts, preventions, and omissions, as well as the debate between causal reductionists and causal anti-reductionists. The book also pays special attention to causation and causal structure in physics. Weaver argues that causation is a multigrade obtaining relation that is transitive, irreflexive, and asymmetric. When causation is singular, deterministic and such that it relates purely contingent events, the relation is also universal, intrinsic, and well-founded. He shows that proper causal relata are events understood as states of substances at ontological indices. He then proves that causation cannot be reduced to some non-causal base, and that the best account of that relation should be unashamedly primitivist about the dependence relation that underwrites its very nature. The book demonstrates a distinctive realist and anti-reductionist account of causation by detailing precisely how the account outperforms reductionist and competing anti-reductionist accounts in that it handles all of the difficult cases while overcoming all of the general objections to anti-reductionism upon which other anti-reductionist accounts falter. This book offers an original and interesting view of causation and will appeal to scholars and advanced students in the areas of metaphysics, philosophy of science, and philosophy of physics.
