'Professor Ang's thoughtful book is the first comprehensive analysis of the philosophic underpinnings of the morality clauses contained in the principal IPR statutes. Morality issues in intellectual property are becoming increasingly important as a consequence of the recent debates over access to proprietary medicines, the implications of DNA patenting for medical treatment and the impact of IPRs on food security. Professor Ang's book provides an important touchstone for consideration of these issues.' - Michael Blakeney, University of Western Australia

The Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at Lund University is pleased to introduce the first volume in its new ‘New Authors’ series, which contains the best theses from the human rights masters programmes in Lund and Venice. The new authors contained in this first volume are: Filipa Marques Júnior, Dominic Laferrière, Kajsa Öbrink, Annette Lyth, Mona Ressaissi, Malin Käll and George Jokhadze. The issues they discuss are those which have been high on international agendas during recent years: human rights and the fight against terrorism; the human rights of women; state responsibility to ensure adequate standards of living; and the human rights accountability of transnational corporations. Collectively, the authors demand the revision of the inadequate theoretical and practical approaches in international human rights law. They address the challenges presented by the world we live in and suggest solutions that are flexible, preserve human dignity and topple the unnecessary barriers between theories and areas of legal regulation. The introduction to the volume by Professor Ineta Ziemele notes the importance of human rights education; the writings in this series are one example of the achievements of that education.

Innovation And Iprs In China And India written by Kung-Chung Liu and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-05-19 with Law categories.
This book examines the two most populous nations on earth – India and China – in an effort to demystify the interaction between intellectual property rights (IPR) regimes, innovation and economic growth by critically looking at the economic and legal realities. In addition, it analyzes the question of how innovation can best be transformed into IPR, and how IPR can best be exploited to encourage innovation. Comparing and contrasting these two giant nations can be highly beneficial as China and India were the two fastest-growing economies in the last three decades, and together their populations make up one third of the world’s total population; as such, exploring how to sustain their growth via innovation and commercialization of IPR could have a tremendous positive impact on global well-being. While a study of these two mega countries with such diverse dimensions and magnitudes can never be truly comprehensive, this joint effort by scholars from law, business management and economics disciplines that pursues an empirical approach makes a valuable contribution. Divided into three parts, the first offers an in-depth doctrinal and empirical analysis. The second part exclusively focuses on India, while the last is dedicated to China.

Property And Human Rights In A Global Context written by Ting Xu and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-03-24 with Law categories.
Property as a human rights concern is manifested through its incorporation in international instruments and as a subject of the law through property-related cases considered by international human rights organs. Yet, for the most part, the relationship between property and human rights has been discussed in rather superficial terms, lacking a clear substantive connection or common language. That said, the currents of globalisation have witnessed a new era of interrelation between these two areas of the law, including the emergence of international intellectual property law and the recognition of indigenous claims, which, in fundamental ways, speak to an engagement with human rights law. This collection starts the conversation between human rights lawyers and property lawyers and explores analytical approaches to the increasing relationship between property and human rights in a global context. The chapters engage with key theoretical and policy debates and range across three main themes: The re-evaluation of the public/private divide in the law; the tensions between the market and social justice in development and the balance between the rights of individuals and those of communities. The chapters adopt a global, comparative perspective and engage in case studies from countries including India, Philippines, Brazil, the United States, the United Kingdom and includes various regions of Africa and Europe.
