Rare indeed is the artist who is feted by royalty, and at the same time sought after by naturalists and scientists as an active collaborator. Such a painter was Pierre Joseph Redoute, born in 1759 on the Franco-Belgian border. Before Redoute was thirty his fame was established in Paris, where he was to become as renowned as his great neo-classic contemporary, Jacques-Louis David - and highly appreciated and honoured up to the year of his death, 1840. Even as Redoute collaborated with leading naturalists on several books and was rewarded with the title of Dessinateur to the Institut de France, he continued to specialize in roses, lilies, a nd lilacs. Redoute created this collection of masterpieces in 1833 as the pinnacle of his craft. In this lavish work - many of the plates were retouched by hand - he applied every technique and skill he had perfected, bringing art and nature into close harmony. A professional of self-imposed exacting standards, Redoute never abandoned the search for beauty and accuracy - as this magnificently produced volume shows so well. Although sales of his works in his lifetime never enabled him to balance his financial problems, connoisseurs of his turbulent times acclaimed him the Raphael of Flowers, the Rembrandt of Roses.

Every flower brags to be the most beautiful, most admired, or most useful flower of them all - thus the title. The idea is to bring nature into a child's world; to teach them the names of the flowers and what's special about this or that flower. In addition, I added information about the flowers that are interesting for anyone.

Beautiful Flowers Of The Maquiladora written by Norma Iglesias Prieto and has been published by University of Texas Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-07-05 with Social Science categories.

Published originally as La flor mas bella de la maquiladora, this beautifully written book is based on interviews the author conducted with more than fifty Mexican women who work in the assembly plants along the U.S.-Mexico border. A descriptive analytic study conducted in the late 1970s, the book uses compelling testimonials to detail the struggles these women face. The experiences of women in maquiladoras are attracting increasing attention from scholars, especially in the context of ongoing Mexican migration to the country's northern frontier and in light of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). This book is among the earliest accounts of the physical and psychological toll exacted from the women who labor in these plants. Iglesias Prieto captures the idioms of these working women so that they emerge as dynamic individuals, young and articulate personalities, inexorably engaged in the daily struggle to change the fundamental conditions of their exploitation.

Each chapter also focuses on a significant type of bloom--the rose, iris, and tulip, among others. Illustrated with more than 180 exquisite photographs by Alain Le Toquin, this book features the world's most extraordinary flower gardens, showcasing gardens in countries such as the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, New Zealand, Russia, the United States, Thailand, and many more.
