Between the leaves of this story are two young inquirers. Sophia, you could say, was the first to start asking why things are the way they seem, but Phil was first to really get up close to nature. Who's Moving is a nostalgic narrative about two siblings as they embark on a grand move to a new house. Phil and Sophia along the way practice thinking philosophically, questioning everything they encounter. From trees to pastries, each chapter discusses how reflection, relationships, reasoning, and resistance are meaningful to developing an identity. The works of four creative philosophers laid the framework and inspired the characters and situations encountered by Phil and Sophia. Dendra is inspired by Marya Schehtman's narrative account of personal identity, Streben is inspired by Paul Katsafanas' Nietzschean view, Sunyata is inspired by Derek Parfit's reductionist account of personal identity, and the Pastries are inspired by Christine Korsgaard's work with practical identity. Phil and Sophia are us. We all question the world. On the road to their new house, Phil and Sophia listen together, work together, become frustrated together, and ultimately question who they are-together. The story is full of inquiry and deep thinking that inspires engagement with philosophy. Philosophical exploration involves active participation in a dialogue with the intention of achieving wisdom. It is an inherently communal process that values new ideas and new ways of seeing the world. This book takes seriously the idea that children can profit greatly from engaging with philosophical ideas and it aims to facilitate and encourage such engagement. Through discussion questions presented at the end of every chapter, this book is designed to spur reflection and conversation, it is best read with others.

This dialogue game approach to the discourse analysis of the English interjection well aims at the formulation of rules which would be informative (marking some contexts of use as more natural than others), systematic (applicable in a mechanical or at least in a non-ad hoc way), and adequate (showing putative competitors to be either false to fact, too narrow or too wide, or demonstrably equivalent).

Discourse, Dialogue and Technology Enhanced Learning is invaluable to all those wanting to explore how dialogic processes work and how we facilitate them. Dialogue is an important learning tool and it is by understanding how language affects us and how we use language to encourage, empathise, inquire, argue and persuade that we come closer to understanding processes of change in ourselves and our society. Most researchers in Education will find themselves interpreting some form of data in the form of words; whether these words be explanations, conversations, narrations, reflections, debates or interviews and whether they are conducted through digital media or face-to-face. Discourse, textual or spoken, is therefore central to researching education. Each chapter focuses on the ways in which alternative levels of discourse analysis provide tools for the researcher, enabling insights into the way language works in learning, teaching practice and wider society. Drawing on the author’s own ‘DISCOUNT’ discourse analysis coding scheme and including a wide range of dialogue examples, this book covers: Why Dialogue? The Role of Dialogue in Education. Debate: Learning to Argue and Arguing to Learn Towards Meaning-Making: Inquiry, Narrative and Experience The Role of the Significant Other: Facilitation, Scaffolding and Mediation Inclusion, Collaboration and Community Media, Mode and Digital Literacy Researching Voices and Texts Discourse, Dialogue and Technology Enhanced Learning will be an essential resource for all students, educators and educational researchers who have an interest in the role of discourse in educational contexts.

Considerable progress has been made in recent years in the development of dialogue systems that support robust and efficient human-machine interaction using spoken language. Spoken dialogue technology allows various interactive applications to be built and used for practical purposes, and research focuses on issues that aim to increase the system's communicative competence by including aspects of error correction, cooperation, multimodality, and adaptation in context. This book gives a comprehensive view of state-of-the-art techniques that are used to build spoken dialogue systems. It provides an overview of the basic issues such as system architectures, various dialogue management methods, system evaluation, and also surveys advanced topics concerning extensions of the basic model to more conversational setups. The goal of the book is to provide an introduction to the methods, problems, and solutions that are used in dialogue system development and evaluation. It presents dialogue modelling and system development issues relevant in both academic and industrial environments and also discusses requirements and challenges for advanced interaction management and future research. In Dialogue With Mich Le Le Doeuff written by Pamela Sue Anderson and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-11-16 with Philosophy categories.

The work of Michèle Le Dœuff creatively disrupts established notions of what philosophy might be. Far from being a discipline about the leader and the disciple, a hierarchy of knowledge and paternalism, Le Dœuff proposes a philosophy of dialogue and friendship. The conversations in this book explore how this philosophy can be enacted and explored, and show how openness and generosity can be the starting point of truly rigorous thinking. Introduced and curated by the late philosopher, Pamela Sue Anderson, In Dialogue with Michèle Le Dœuff explores themes like contemporary feminism, joy in philosophy, memory, the significance of friendship to thinking and a key Le Dœuffian concept, the imaginary. Le Dœuff's interlocutors, including Penelope Deutscher, Elizabeth Fallaize and Meenda Dhanda, are some of the most significant thinkers in the fields of feminism and continental thought and provide insights and ways into considering philosophy as a profoundly dialogical exercise.
