In "The Mystique of Enlightenment," U. G. Krishnamurti delves deep into the often misunderstood and romanticized concept of enlightenment. Through a provocative and contrarian literary style, Krishnamurti challenges the prevailing notions of spiritual attainment, arguing that enlightenment, as traditionally perceived, is a mere illusion. He employs a combination of philosophical inquiry and experiential narrative, drawing from his own radical interpretations of various Indian philosophical traditions, distilling complex ideas into accessible insights that invite readers to question the validity of their own spiritual ambitions. This work acts as both a critique and an exploration, situated amid the broader discourse on spiritual awakening within the 20th-century landscape of Eastern philosophy and Western psychological thought. U. G. Krishnamurti, an enigmatic figure in the world of spirituality, rejected the labels often associated with mystics and gurus. Having lived a life marked by personal upheaval and radical transformation, he utilized his own experiences'Äîoften described as a 'natural state' of being'Äîto inform his enlightening discourse. His disregard for traditional enlightenment narratives stems from a desire to strip away the layers of dogma and expectation that cloud genuine understanding, positioning himself as a catalyst for introspection among seekers. I highly recommend "The Mystique of Enlightenment" to anyone seeking a fresh perspective on spiritual enlightenment. This book is not merely for those aspiring to enlightenment, but for those willing to confront their preconceptions and engage fully with the idea that true understanding transcends all notions of achievement. Krishnamurti'Äôs provocative insights compel readers to embark on a journey of self-inquiry that resonates long after the final page is turned.

"People call me an 'enlightened man' — I detest that term — they can't find any other word to describe the way I am functioning. At the same time, I point out that there is no such thing as enlightenment at all. I say that because all my life I've searched and wanted to be an enlightened man, and I discovered that there is no such thing as enlightenment at all, and so the question whether a particular person is enlightened or not doesn't arise. I don't give a hoot for a sixth-century-BC Buddha, let alone all the other claimants we have in our midst. They are a bunch of exploiters, thriving on the gullibility of the people. There is no power outside of man. Man has created God out of fear. So the problem is fear and not God."

"There is no such thing as your mind and my mind. There is only mind—the totality of all that has been known, felt, and experienced by man, handed down from generation to generation. We are all thinking and functioning in that "thought sphere", just as we all share the same atmosphere for breathing. The thoughts are there to function and communicate in this world sanely and intelligently."

U.G. Krishnamurti famously described enlightenment as a neurobiological state of being with no religious, psychological or mystical implications. He did not lecture, did not set up organizations, held no gatherings and professed to have no message for mankind. Known as the ‘anti-guru’, the ‘raging sage’ and the ‘thinker who shuns thought’, U.G. spent his life destroying accepted beliefs in science, god, mind, soul, religion, love and relationships—all the props man uses to live life. Having taken away all support systems from those who came to him, he refused to replace them with those of his own; always insisting that each must find his own truth. And when U.G. knew that it was time for him go, he refused all attempts to prolong life with medical help. He let nature, and his body, take their course. On the afternoon of 22 March 2007, U.G. Krishnamurti passed away in Vallecrosia, Italy.

Spiritual Enlightenment written by Jed McKenna and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-11 with Spiritual life categories.

From a Spiritual Master Unlike Any, A Spiritual Masterpiece Like No Other AUTHOR, TEACHER AND SPIRITUAL MASTER Jed McKenna tells it like it's never been told before. A true American original, Jed succeeds where countless others have failed by reducing this highest of attainments - Spiritual Enlightenment - to the simplest of terms. Effectively demystifying the mystical, Jed astonishes the reader not by adding to the world's collected spiritual wisdom, but by taking the spirituality out of spiritual enlightenment. Never before has this elusive topic been treated in so engaging and accessible a manner. A masterpiece of illuminative writing, Spiritual Enlightenment is mandatory reading for anyone following a spiritual path. Part exposé and part how-to manual, this is the first book to explain why failure seems to be the rule in the search for enlightenment - and how the rule can be broken. Says Jed: The truth is that enlightenment is neither remote nor unattainable. It is closer than your skin and more immediate than your next breath. If we wonder why so few seem able to find that which can never be lost, we might recall the child who was looking in the light for a coin he dropped in the dark because "the light is better over here." Mankind has spent ages looking in the light for a coin that awaits us not in light and not in dark, but beyond all opposites. That is the message of this book: Spiritual enlightenment, pure and simple.

The Mystique Of Transmission written by Wendi L. Adamek and has been published by Columbia University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-05-15 with Religion categories.

The Mystique of Transmission is a close reading of a late-eighth-century Chan/Zen Buddhist hagiographical work, the Lidai fabao ji (Record of the Dharma-Jewel Through the Generations), and is its first English translation. The text is the only remaining relic of the little-known Bao Tang Chan school of Sichuan, and combines a sectarian history of Buddhism and Chan in China with an account of the eighth-century Chan master Wuzhu in Sichuan. Chinese religions scholar Wendi Adamek compares the Lidai fabao ji with other sources from the fourth through eighth centuries, chronicling changes in the doctrines and practices involved in transmitting medieval Chinese Buddhist teachings. While Adamek is concerned with familiar Chan themes like patriarchal genealogies and the ideology of sudden enlightenment, she also highlights topics that make Lidai fabao ji distinctive: formless practice, the inclusion of female practitioners, the influence of Daoist metaphysics, and connections with early Tibetan Buddhism. The Lidai fabao ji was unearthed in the early twentieth century in the Mogao caves at the Silk Road oasis of Dunhuang in northwestern China. Discovery of the Dunhuang manuscripts has been compared with the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, as these documents have radically changed our understanding of medieval China and Buddhism. A crucial volume for students and scholars, The Mystique of Transmission offers a rare glimpse of a lost world and fills an important gap in the timeline of Chinese and Buddhist history.

In "The Iconic Works of U. G. Krishnamurti," readers are invited into a profound exploration of consciousness and self-liberation, encapsulating the radical ideas of one of the 20th century's most intriguing thinkers. Krishnamurti'Äôs literary style is marked by a conversational yet piercing prose that seeks to dismantle conventional spirituality and philosophical constructs, urging readers to experience truth beyond dogma. The book delves into his core teachings, characterized by an emphasis on direct experience rather than inherited beliefs, which situates his work within the broader context of existential thought and non-duality. U. G. Krishnamurti, an Indian philosopher often regarded as the 'Äòanti-guru,'Äô lived a life steeped in the tension between tradition and individual insight. His past as a seeker, coupled with profound personal revelations, shaped his disdain for rituals and authority in spirituality. His journey, moving through various cultural landscapes and intellectual terrains, led him to articulate a philosophy that challenges the status quo and encourages radical personal introspection. For those seeking liberation from societal constraints and an authentic awakening, "The Iconic Works of U. G. Krishnamurti" serves not just as a philosophical text, but as an experiential guide. This book is highly recommended for spiritual seekers, philosophers, and anyone interested in breaking free from preconceived notions of existence.
