Octavio Paz: The Mythic Dimension is a study of myth and mythmaking in the eminent Mexican writer's poetry based on an archetypal analysis of the central theme of the dialectic of solitude and communion. The author also attempts to illustrate Paz's mission to redeem the positive values of biblical, classical, pre-Columbian, and oriental mythologies by re-creating and enriching them in new forms and meanings more appropriate to a contemporary world view. Poems are selected from both early and recent collections to illustrate the continuity of Paz's works; quoted passages are in the original Spanish with English translations. In addition to mythological sources, significant contributions of certain literary sources to Paz's thought and poetry are also discussed to demonstrate his place in the modern literary tradition.

The Empire Of Myth written by Alain De Benoist and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-02-20 with categories.

"In the beginning was the Myth"-or so begins Alain de Benoist's (un)timely meditation on the meaning of a concept which is infinitely rich with significance, yet notoriously difficult to define. Drawing on philosophy, psychology, sociology, and the history of religion, Benoist examines the relationship between language, poetry, and the "stories of the gods" that most people equate with myth. This opens the door to the even bigger question of how meaning first enters the world-and how, in the spiritual wasteland that is modernity, it disappears.Yet the mythic dimension is always with us, even if we believe we have somehow transcended it. It is what makes us who we are. This small essay sets out to ask what myth is from a variety of different perspectives, and provides a concise survey of how many of the greatest thinkers on the subject have answered that question. More importantly, it is a call to re-enter the Empire of Myth. For Benoist, this would be "to experience a revolution as if there had never been one."

In recent years, profound changes have affected the way people view the role of religion and spirituality in the life cycle. For many people, spirituality, always considered an essential part of religion, has become an interest no longer tied to organized religion. This book addresses the evolving relationship of spirituality to religion in our time, and the consequences of this change for understanding personality development. It also applies the concept of implicit religion to show how the least easily observed aspects of religion are at work in the growth of personality.

The Mythic Mind written by Nicolas Wyatt and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-12-05 with History categories.

The Mythic Mind follows the tradition of works which insist on the necessity for a comparative dimension in the study of ancient Israel. The Israelite world-view was essentially a West Semitic world-view in origin, with additional deeply embedded influences from Egypt and Mesopotamia, though it produced its own distinctive character by way of synthesis and reaction. The essays in this volume explore various aspects of this process, historically and cosmologically, commonly challenging received views developed in the treatment of Israel in isolation. The importance of the Ugaritic texts in particular, as reflecting the cultural context in which ancient Israel developed into two symbiotic kingdoms, heirs to a common 'Canaanite' tradition, emerges clearly from such studies as chapter 5: 'Sea and Desert', chapter 7: 'Of Calves and Kings', chapter 9: 'The Significance of Spn' and chapter 10: 'The Vocabulary and Neurology of Orientation.'
