This volume is the product of a conference on the theme 'Development - the Next Twenty-five Years' which the Institute of Social Studies held in Decem ber 1977 to mark its own twenty-fifth anniversaryas a centre of development studies. We felt it appropriate at that point in time to caU together specialists from all over the world in an attempt to assess the 'state of play' in our field as we move into the last quarter of the twentieth century. 1 For several days, therefore, the Institute's new building house d a remarkable concentration of knowledge and experience concerning the problems of the so-calle d less developed countries, drawn from all over the world. Although it was inevitable that the participants should represent the past (and it was several times re marked that, in that sense, there were too few women present), the earnest and sometimes heated discussions looked to the future as much as to what had happened in the last twenty-five years. As the discussions proceeded, three things became apparent. Firstly , although the papers submitted did not fully reveal it, the ongoing debate between radicals and moderates, those who saw possibilities of change only basically through a direct break with existing structures and those who felt change possibIe within them, is by no means at an end.

The Next 25 Years written by Martin Garbus and has been published by Seven Stories Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-01-04 with Law categories.
In The Next 25 Years, renowned First Amendment lawyer Martin Garbus examines what will be the impact of the new Supreme Court on the future of our republic. Drawing on extensive knowledge of Constitutional law and legal precedents, Garbus, one of our most astute legal historians, defrocks the executive branch’s grip over the judiciary as an extension of its own executive powers. He warns of the threat of an incoming "textualist" bench that wishes to roll back more than a century’s worth of hard-won reforms. And he offers the first clear-eyed account of how the coming bench may imperil our way of life and endanger the liberties you may have thought were our inalienable rights.

The Twenty Five Years Of Philosophy written by Eckart Förster and has been published by Harvard University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-03-20 with Philosophy categories.
Kant declared that philosophy began in 1781 with his Critique of Pure Reason. In 1806 Hegel announced that philosophy had now been completed. Eckart Förster examines the reasons behind these claims and assesses the steps that led in such a short time from Kant’s “beginning” to Hegel’s “end.” He concludes that, in an unexpected yet significant sense, both Kant and Hegel were indeed right. “Presents a novel interpretation of the development of German idealism that is rich in both historical depth and philosophical insight...Förster sets forth a historically nuanced and philosophically discerning interpretation of the central debates of the era.” —Peter Yong, Philosophy in Review “[Förster’s] book does not disappoint...The amount of material covered by Förster is impressive...Förster’s book is rich in specificity...Wherever the discussion goes, it is going to have to go on by taking Förster’s big picture and all his detailed accounts into account.” —Terry Pinkard, Notre Dame Philosophical Reviews “Förster’s command of the historical sources is most impressive. Moreover, this book is clearly written, and Bowman’s translation is commendable. Scholars and graduate students will welcome this masterpiece.” —J. M. Fritzman, Choice
