In this time where children are fighting the battles of low self esteem and self worth, this book will be the equivalent to a refreshing glass of water to those who are thirsty or a breath of fresh air to those who need to breathe. It is my hope that this book will rekindle the fire of a declining American art form. This book is about healing. It contains essays, poems, and insights into dance and it works in a powerful effective way to change the quality of the individual's life experience for the better. Through dance, individuals can display pride, self-expression, and identity. For the students of Dr. E. Alma Flagg School, the history of Modem dance will speak to them personally, as well as culturally. A dance would look quite different without the influence of the African and Latin contribution. Throughout history we have discovered how dance has enabled people to communicate their thoughts and ideas and provide comfort in times of sorrow and misery. I Dance Because.... Is a gift of comfort, peace, hope and inspiration. Page by page you will feel the passion and heartfelt thoughts as dancers describe the reasons they dance. Mrs. Pope has enlisted the talents of many individuals, from many different places to speak to one thing that they all love, DANCING!! She serves as a teacher truly committed towards the promotion of her students as well as her art form. In a short time, I have witnessed her transform some of the most challenging students into individuals who believe in themselves and work diligently to meet her approval. She is truly an asset to our school and I applaud her efforts in compiling this extensive volume of information to motivate the next generations of dancers. Roy T. Wilson Principal Dr. E. Alma Flagg School

Storytelling poet Steven Evetts has never shied away from sharing his deepest and most personal thoughts and Good News for the Bad News Blues is no exception as he contemplates the reality we inhabit but the message is clear 'everything is okay, in a not okay, sort of way.'Good News for the Bad News Blues is a collection of poems which vary from tragedy to comedy, written in his typically unique style of open form poetry with a gift for telling stories and playing with words to create an enthralling piece of work which takes the reader on a journey through his mind with a backdrop prominently centered around Americana. The collection is raw, honest, thought-provoking and witty. Steven Evetts also known as The Rambling Pirate uses his storytelling and dry wit to address a diverse plethora of topics throughout this collection which explores life, death, love, loss, cults, racism, violence and much more... The simplicity of some of the words are only matched by the complexity of their meaning."I like the idea that anyone can pick up one of my books and have some idea of what I'm talking about. I'm not trying to sound smart, I'm just interested in sharing stories and thoughts in interesting ways which are open to the interpretation of whoever is reading them. To write complicated words for the sake of it seems a little braggadocio to me." Steven Evetts

The main character, Blaine Joseph Johnson Jr, who goes by BJ, is a 27 year old screw up reporter who cant seem to catch a break in life. He still lives at home with his alcoholic, divorcee mother who thinks she is still young, and his girlfriend who is a high school has been still hanging on to her teenage glory days. BJ and best friend Victor Patel, a 26-year-old aspiring Indian rapper, both work at local news station KWRC-TV. The news station is suffering from a lack of crime/activity in the town, as well as losing its beloved head anchor. The job opening provides an opportunity for BJ to finally make something of himself, so he makes up his mind that he must get the position. He assembles a crew of his friends, and they go around town committing non-violent crimes and pranks in order to boost his stock in the race for the position. His arch nemesis, Richard Fox, a narcissitic brown noser, assembles a team of his own and both crews go back and forth commiting similar crimes. No News Is Bad News written by Michael Bromley and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-08-15 with Broadcast journalism categories.

This volume of collected essays provides a wide-ranging survey of the state of radio and television, especially the idea of public service broadcasting, and of news, current affairs and documentary programming in America, Australia, the UK and the rest of western Europe. Among the key issues it addresses are the 'dumbing down' of TV news, the infotainment factor in current affairs shows and the disappearance of the documentary. Using contemporary cases and examples - from the row over the scheduling of News at Ten in the UK to the creation of ABC News Online in Australia -- the essays link the performance of radio and television at the turn of the millennium with the processes of deregulation, liberalisation and digitalisation which have been evident since the 1980s. Working from a much needed and original comparative approach which encompasses complex and well-established public broadcasting in the USA as well as emerging and vulnerable participatory radio stations in El Salvador, the book sets a variety of experiences of factual radio and television programming within wider political and cultural contexts. It offers analyses of not only the 'problems' associated with news, current affairs and documentary broadcasting in an era of a declining public service ethos and the apparent triumph of the market, however. The essays also explore the potential of alternative radio and television, new forms of communication, such as the internet, and changing practices among journalists and programme makers, as well as the resilience of public broadcasting and the powers of the public to ensure that the media remain relevant and accountable. A companion text to the bestselling Sex, Lies and Democracy: The Press and the Public, this volume presents a multi-faceted approach to the tumultuous present and the uncertain future of news, current affairs and documentary in radio and television.
