The low frequency scattering of electromagnetic and acoustic waves by rotationally symmetric bodies is considered. By concentrating on certain quantities such as the normalised component of the induced electric and magnetic dipole moments, it is shown how the first one or two terms in the far zone scattered fields can be expressed in terms of quantities which are functions only of the geometry of the body. Each of these is the weighted integral of an elementary potential function which can be found by solving an integral equation. A computer program has been written to solve the appropriate equations by the moment method, and for calculating the dipole moments, the electrostatic capacity, and a further quantity related to the capacity. The program is described and related data are presented.

Canonical Problems In Scattering And Potential Theory Part Ii written by S.S. Vinogradov and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002-04-29 with Mathematics categories.

Although the analysis of scattering for closed bodies of simple geometric shape is well developed, structures with edges, cavities, or inclusions have seemed, until now, intractable to analytical methods. This two-volume set describes a breakthrough in analytical techniques for accurately determining diffraction from classes of canonical scatterers

Integral Equation Methods In Scattering Theory written by David Colton and has been published by SIAM this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-11-15 with Mathematics categories.

This classic book provides a rigorous treatment of the Riesz?Fredholm theory of compact operators in dual systems, followed by a derivation of the jump relations and mapping properties of scalar and vector potentials in spaces of continuous and H?lder continuous functions. These results are then used to study scattering problems for the Helmholtz and Maxwell equations. Readers will benefit from a full discussion of the mapping properties of scalar and vector potentials in spaces of continuous and H?lder continuous functions, an in-depth treatment of the use of boundary integral equations to solve scattering problems for acoustic and electromagnetic waves, and an introduction to inverse scattering theory with an emphasis on the ill-posedness and nonlinearity of the inverse scattering problem.

Low And High Frequency Asymptotics written by V. K. Varadan and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1986 with Mathematics categories.

This volume focuses on asymptotic methods in the low and high frequency limits for the solution of scattering and propagation problems. Each chapter is pedagogical in nature, starting with the basic foundations and ending with practical applications. For example, using the Geometrical Theory of Diffraction, the canonical problem of edge diffraction is first solved and then used in solving the problem of diffraction by a finite crack. In recent times, the crack problem has been of much interest for its applications to Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) of flaws in structural materials.

The five-volume set LNCS 6782 - 6786 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the International Conference on Computational Science and Its Applications, ICCSA 2011, held in Santander, Spain, in June 2011. The five volumes contain papers presenting a wealth of original research results in the field of computational science, from foundational issues in computer science and mathematics to advanced applications in virtually all sciences making use of computational techniques. The topics of the fully refereed papers are structured according to the five major conference themes: geographical analysis, urban modeling, spatial statistics; cities, technologies and planning; computational geometry and applications; computer aided modeling, simulation, and analysis; and mobile communications.

This volume consists ofsurvey articles on current topics in computational wave prop agation and inverse problems, written by leading experts in their respective fields. The idea to compile such a volume arose in conjunction with the LMS Durham Symposium on Computational Methods for Wave Propagation in Direct Scattering held at the University of Durham from 15th-25th July 2002, which we jointly or ganised. The meeting, attended by 70 participants from the UK and overseas, was structured around a number of short, three lecture, survey courses on a range of top ics on computational wave propagation and inverse problems beginning at the level of a graduate student. We were delighted to secure the participation of distinguished international researchers to present these lectures. We felt that it would be valuable to record this material for the benefit of a wider audience, and the idea was hatched that the individual lecturers should be invited to contribute a survey article. Fortunately, many of the speakers not only agreed to undertake this arduous task, but produced what we hope you will agree are the high quality contributions found in this volume. Finally, it is a pleasure to thank the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council of Great Britain and the London Mathematical Society for providing the generous support that allowed the meeting to take place.
