100 Greatest Cricketers written by Geoff Armstrong and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017 with Cricket categories.

The 100 Greatest Cricketers takes the innovative approach of listing players in nine teams mdash; from Sir Donald Bradmanrsquo;s First XI to the Ninth XI featuring Peter May and Graeme Smith mdash; with Doug Walters as 100th Man! Of course, it is impossible for any such list to be truly definitive. This is perhaps the bookrsquo;s greatest appeal mdash; that you, the reader, are fully entitled to disagree with the authorrsquo;s opinion, while at the same time appreciating the qualities of the players profiled. Steve Waugh is not the only person who has wondered if the Second XI might beat the First XI. Who is in that top team? Who is rated as cricketrsquo;s greatest all-rounder, spinner, fast bowler and wicketkeeper? Who would you leave out to put your favourite player in? Were the old cricketers really so good? Have the modern champions superseded them? It was important in developing this Top 100 not to fall into the trap of picking players just because it has become fashionable to rate them highly. It is astonishing how some playersrsquo; reputations have grown as the memories of their playing days recede, while other more accomplished or important cricketers have been all but forgotten. For this third edition, five new players are included: Indiarsquo;s MS Dhoni (at No. 39), South Africarsquo;s AB de Villiers (No. 50), Hashim Amla (No. 61) and Dale Steyn (No. 71), and Indiarsquo;s Anil Kumble (No. 75). Sri Lankarsquo;s Kumar Sangakkara (No. 98 to No. 16) and South Africarsquo;s Jacques Kallis (No. 88 to No. 29) get big promotions. Fully revised and updated, The 100 Greatest Cricketers is a book to be savoured. Let the arguments begin!

With every cricket season that passes the roll-call of great players gets longer. Batsmen, bowlers, fielders, wicket-keepers, captains, and characters. Every year more international cricket is played by more countries, making the task of ranking the best of them harder than it has ever been. And how do you compare a dazzling Twenty20 specialist of the modern era with a champion of the age before Test cricket officially started in 1877? Some years after the last of his highly regarded bookswas published, Christopher Martin-Jenkins has accepted the challenge of selecting the 100 best players of all time, one that he has called 'impossible but irresistible'. Placing them in order of precedence, he has analysed each of them, assessing their characters, the cricketing elements that made them so outstanding and the special qualities that enabled them to be pre-eminent in their time. Whether Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Kevin Pietersen, Brett Lee, Muttiah Muralitharan and Jacques Kallis, heroes of the contemporary game, will make a list that includes immortal cricketers such as W.G. Grace, Don Bradman and Gary Sobers, will be as fascinating as where they may be rated in the pantheon. Having written and commentated on international cricket for 40 years, Martin-Jenkins is almost uniquely qualified to act as judge and jury.

No object encapsulates the subtle, mysterious richness of cricket as much as its most famous character, the cricket ball: the swinging, bouncing, spinning heart of the glorious game. Gary Cox tells us the life story of the ball in its many guises: new ball, old ball, live ball, dead ball, no-ball, lost ball, swing ball and dot ball. He untangles the complexities of spin bowling (with a little help from Shane Warne), the tricks and cheats involved in ball tampering (including a look at the 2018 Australian scandal) and explores the multi-coloured future of a rapidly changing game. A kaleidoscopic look at the ball through the lenses of everything from philosophy and science to history, politics and biography and the myriad facts and figures of the vast cricket universe, Cox brings you a brimming biography of this legendary leathern orb and the heroes, fools and villains it has created along the way.

The best of the best, these are the greatest players of the 20th Century playing in the same side. Former Test cricketer and author Ashley Mallett describes the agony and ecstasy in selecting the best Eleven of the past 100 years. From the short list to the final selection, he provides the reason and argument towards achieving the perfectly balanced side. The outcome is a team with great batting depth - nine players who have scored Test Centuries, and specialist batsmen who are courageous, consistent and adaptable. There are one batting all-rounder and two bowling all-rounders. The attack is a potent mix of genuine pace bowling, complemented by two brilliant spinners- one a leg-spinner, the other an off-spinner. This Eleven would beat any combination - anywhere and at anytime.

Charles Burgess Fry, known as C. B. Fry was an English polymath; an outstanding sportsman, politician, diplomat, academic, teacher, writer, editor and publisher, who is best remembered for his career as a cricketer. Fry's achievements on the sporting field included representing England at both cricket and football, an F.A. Cup Final appearance for Southampton F.C. and equalling the then world record for the long jump. But he was much more than a sportsman. He won a major scholarship to Oxford, where his friends numbered Max Beerbohm, Hilaire Belloc, and F.E. Smith. He wrote several books, including an autobiography and a novel, and he was one of the most successful journalists of his day. He was a friend of many prominent Labour and Liberal politicians, but flirted with Fascism, meeting Hitler in 1934. He tried out for Hollywood, represented India at the League of Nations, and stood for Parliament three times. 'A most incredible man . . . the most variously gifted Englishman of any age . . . the pre-eminent all-rounder, not merely of his own age but, so far as is measurable, of all English history.' John Arlott; 'This is a well-researched, well-rounded picture of one of England's great sporting heroes.' - Jeremy Paxman, Mail on Sunday; 'He has written what should come to be regarded as one of the very best sporting biographies. I could not put it down.' - Michael Kennedy, Sunday Telegraph; 'This is a book that rises to its subject's level in fascination, entertainment and brilliance.' - Tim Rice, Literary Review

With a flamboyant approach to the game on and off the pitch, Australia's greatest bowler Shane Warne is an irresistible cricketing force. In Shane Warne's Century, he candidly profiles 100 players from every Test nation who have had the most significant impact on his cricketing life. Warne is famous for having never scoring a Test century, although he came tantalisingly close on several occasions. He now wants to set the record straight by writing about a century of cricketing stars he has encountered during his illustrious career, The famous names featured here include fellow Australian legends Allan Border, Steve Waugh, Ricky Ponting and Glenn McGrath, as well as adversaries such as Brian Lara, Sachin Tendulkar, Jonty Rhodes and Freddie Flintoff. Warne also puts together a dream Test match of those he would have loved to have played alongside versus a team of international legends. Pulling no punches and giving a fascinating insight into the game, Warne serves up highly readable anecdotes and opinions. Throughout the book, Warne covers the serious issues affecting cricket today, such as cheating and match-fixing, and assesses a large number of professional relationships he has enjoyed and endured, including those with Sri Lankan star Arjuna Ranatunga and South African captain Graeme Smith. Shane Warne's Century is a genuine page-turner by one of cricket's most popular stars and is a must-read for all cricket fans.
